Was impressed-until the air conditioning failed

I am a long time Hyundai owner, my previous vehicles have been a Sonata Limited and a Tucson Night Edition. My lease on the 2019 night edition was closing soon, so I was considering my options. I had narrowed down my choices to a Volvo XC40, BMW X 1, Mercedes GLA, and the Tucson Limited. After comparing features and pricing, as well as seat comfort ( which is a huge factor for me due to multiple spinal surgeries), I went with the Tucson. It is an absolutely stunning car, and the interior is streamlined and rivals my coworkers Range Rover. Going into the second week of ownership, I noticed the car and the ventilated seats were not cooling, in fact they seemed to be blowing hot air. We live in the armpit of the South, so air conditioning is a MUST. Keeping in mind my car has 250 miles on it, I take it to the dealership to have it repaired. It sits for 2 days with zero communication- no answered or returned calls or texts. We finally have to show up in person to get an explanation. Apparently our car is so new, they don’t have the correct machinery to diagnose the problem, and without a diagnosis I cannot get a loaner car. They also have no idea when the part to diagnose the problem will arrive, it is on back order, it could be months. So in the meantime, I’m stuck driving a brand new $39,000 car with no air conditioning and 250 miles on it. This is not the quality or service I have come to expect from Hyundai.

Well, I have only 340 miles on my 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Blue, drove it for 4 days and now it is in the shop. The car does not accelerate. I am told the accelerate sensor is bad. When you are at a stop the car barley moves until you reach about 25 MPH which takes about 10 seconds. Now the dealership has had if for 6 days and told me they don't have an availability for the part, it could 2 weeks or 2 months, they state they don't know when or if the part is available because the car is so new and part shortage ........ blah blah blah. Maybe take the part from a vehicle in stock and have the dealership wait for the part before they can sell the vehicle. I reached out to Hyundai directly and was told someone would contact me within 10 days. Only checked one star because I had too to submit the review. I am very disappointed with Hyundai

The good and the bad about the 2022 Hyundai Tucson

This is my third Hyundai, so you could say I favor the brand. I had a 2021 Tucson Ultimate that got totaled and replaced it with the new re-designed 2022 Tucson Limited. I have only had the vehicle for about a month, but can say the comfort and technology is a huge upgrade from the previous. I didn’t realize the technology was so behind in the 2021 model until I got this one. The 2022 Tucson design definitely is different, but I love the styling once I got use to it. I did shop around some other brands and this new model was a lot more comfortable, quieter, and spacious than most of its competitors. The digital cockpit/tachometer makes it feel upscale. Also, love that when I signal not only do I have blind spot but cameras that show in the tachometer of my view. The safety features are also more advanced and makes alerting sounds compared to others that are just visual. It also has ventilated front seats and rear heated seats which some others don’t offer. This car also has “smart park” which is a cool feature but a feature that I will probably rarely use. Now the cons…The gas tank is very small on this vehicle and short on range. The most I can get on a range is around 300 miles. It’s very annoying to have to constantly feel like you’re having to get gas on long trips. Also, the LED headlights are great but would have been nice to have adaptive headlights or fog lights for better cornering at night. A must that I think should have been on this vehicle for the price point was automatic fold in mirrors. The biggest con is the small gas tank and range. I’m averaging 23-25MPG in the city and 27-30MPG on the highway. The power is decent, but you’ll notice some lag when trying to accelerate. Wish they did offer a turbo engine. Overall, I’m happy with this vehicle and would definitely recommend for consideration for your next vehicle!

Purchased this vehicle 12/2021 it hesitated on pick up but drove good after that nice look but the headlights are bad at night. First month I had a bad scare as when attempting to stop the brakes gave out, I had to pump multiple times to get the car to stop, this happened again about 1 month ago. On 10/10/22 while attempting to park in my driveway which is on a hill the car did not want to accelerate when pressing the gas and many lights turned on the dashboard. Warning, check engine, brake, front collision, etc. I have not had any accidents for the collision light to be on anyways. I turned the car off and restarted it I even disconnected the battery but still nothing the car has power because it does turn on and the lights, radio work but it just would not accelerate. I'm on a very dangerous hill lucky this happened late night when not much vehicle traffic. The next morning 10/11/22 around 10 am Hyundai came to pick up the vehicle. I passed by that day around 4 pm to see what was going on. They had not checked it yet which is understandable we ask the guy when he thought it would be checked out and he responded that towed vehicles take longer to be checked, we asked for a loner and they said they did not have. Saturday 10/15/22 went again, the car was still in the same spot not looked at yet, today 10/19/22- 1 week and 1 day they have not checked the car and we were told they had a lot of cars to work on and we were far down on that list. So basically they will probably take 2-3 weeks to even look at it and if any parts are needed it would probably take another month and without a loner. So we the paying clients have to figure it out. This is very unacceptable not to mention how scary it was for the car to completely give out on a hill thank god no one was driving or walking behind me. I have been driving for 29 yrs and have never experienced something like this. This car can potentially be deadly specially to a new driver. Update: Finally got the car back 12/01/22 they installed an accelerator pedal. On Christmas eve 12/24/22 check engine light came on car was sputtering light it wanted to shut off it's been at the shop since then still haven't received a call back. Guess I'll update in 2 months again.

First of all, to address no spare- they had to do what they could to reduce the weight of the vehicle, and their focus group data revealed that less than 1% of 1% have ever used their spare. YES, its nice to have, but so are GREAT Mpg #'s! Second, i don't know too many ppl who WANT the passengers dinking around with the radio, no knob helps to keep their "paws off" For my OWN paws, there's a up/down & MUTE button right on my steering wheel : ) Only fault i couldfind is the incandesent bulbs & extremely low placement of turn signals/reverse lights....(its almost as if they 99 & 99% done and got to that point and said, "lets call it a day" and never came back to finish the design...lol This SUV does so many thing GREAT, and EVERYTHING else REALLY well! i even loved how the big H in rear window was super easy for my "tint guy" to slap on a piece of limo window tint, you no longer see the H...look so good without that badging : ) Between the 3/36 FREE maintenance, 3/36 Blue Link FREE subscription, 5/60 bumper to bumper/10 year powertrain AND 10 year on electric battery couple with the gazillion features (even some of which you can't get with ANY other vehicle- Blind Spot Camera View in Dash- looking at u Rav 4 : ) you CAN NOT go wrong with this version of the Tucson!!!!!
