Great SUV
Overall I love this vehicle. Have not been able to get the gas mileage promised. I have averaged 21 mph on hwy. (V6 engine) (although I do have a lead foot) But much better than my Durango I traded. I have been very happy with my vehicle so far.
A step up!!!
I am a fairly young drive, 25 yr old female w/ no kids:) i bought this car bc i was looking2step up from a car..my previous car(the 1st car i ever bought,&brand new at that)a 2000 dodge neon was turning into a heap of junk.i would never recommend Dodge2anyone, esp the dealer in countryside,IL.i got rid of that car when it was slightly less than 5y/o&had a broken sun roof, bad belts, brakes were going again, radiator probelms, the list goes on.this Tuscan is a dream,i love the V6, good kick 4 expressway driving, i just love it.the dealership was very friendly!!I get about 18 or19 mi2the Gal in city.better on exprsway, i am a big city driver since i make a lot of home visits4my job.

Awesome!!
Had the car a month and it is terrific! It handles great in the rain and it is so much fun to drive. Can't wait to take it on vacation.
Thirsty - very thirsty
Gas mileage STINKS!!! Getting 12 MPG on a car that was supposed to give me 20 according to the window sticker. Been back 3 times. They don't know why or what to do. If I wanted a car that got such poor mileage, I would have bought a much larger SUV. I love the look of the car but that's where it ends. Standard radio could be better. Sorry I didn't upgrade it.
Lot of Fetures for the Price
Since this is my first experience owning an SUV I wanted to be sure I chose the right one. After doing alot of research, I have to admit I am thrilled with my Tucson GLS. It has many standard features that everyone wants in a car. Most importantly the EBS(helps eliminate rollovers) and the side airbags.
Hyundai Tucson Rating
Purchased nearly 3 mos. ago, my wife primarily drives it but we switch off. I think it is fun to drive & has a better ride than expected. More head room than our 2004 Sonata which is also very nice car.
You got to have one of these!
It drives nice, easy to handle. Smooth ride. We've traveled to Florida to Kentucky. Heated leather seats are very comfortable. A lot of room in the whole car, passenger area in back comfortable and plenty of room for arm near the window. Back seats are easy to adjust. It's a wonderful car and I hightly recommend it! I would buy second one...I came out of a Honda CRV and didn't think I would buy anything else...but I did!
Welcome back to Hyundai
MY first experience with a Hyundai product was a 1986 Excel. Just started searching for a new vechicle and found the Tucson. WOW, I fell in love with it the moment I spotted it on the lot. Test drove it and was hook - had to have it. All the instrumentation was easy to find and read. Controls were easyily accessible. I was new to the SUV type vechicle and I felt at home behind the wheel.
2005 Hyundai Tucson Owner
Have driven the vehicle over 6,000 miles since purchase. No problems of any type have been observed. Good acceleration, traction and handling characteristics. Fuel economy, approximately 20 MPG average, is within the lower portion of the published range.
Best Small SUV
I did months of research for a new(my 1st!)vehicle to suit my needs and considered these factors- Price,Safety, decent cargo room,reliability/quality,snow/rain handling, good MPG,& looks. I tried the CR-V,Escape,Rav-4,Prius,Vibe & Matrix & Murano among others. The V6 GLS Tucson was the clear standout. I would recommend it.I LOVE IT
So easy to maneuver
I owned an Acura previously but because this was so stylish and comfortable I bought it anyway, plus it has 6 air bags. It is extremely easy to handle, and extremely comfortable. It hugs the road very well. I also like the heated seats, 6 CD changers, great sound system. And again the design is a real attention grabber.
Awesome SUV for the $$
This little SUV is AWESOME! I have had no major problems except one minor one. A bulletin from Hyundai came out stating there is a leak onto the passenger floor mat when it rains. I live in WA state and it happened to me. Not too worry the service dept will fix it!! I have the base model and I am extremely happy with it. I had an Elantra GT, but the Tuscon goes much better with my personality. Lots of room for moving or buying too much at the store. I decided to go with another Hyundai for the warranty and the service I receive when I take it in. I recommend this vehicle highly. The price is very affordable compared to other SUV's.
Love It!!!
I would not buy anything but a hyundai! Both my wife and myself own Hyundais. For the money and the 10 year 100,000 miles you cant beat it!!!!
Can't Believe I Bought a Hyundai
Took delivery July 1 and already have 7500 miles. Was a little nervous about buying a Hyundai and for several weeks I was too embarrassed to admit I owned one. Then I realized. This is a great vehicle! Gas mileage is averaging 18- 20 and I do a lot of highway stop and go. Car is tight, no rattles. Engine has good pickup with a nice roar. 6 Disc CD doesn't put out enough volume but will have the dealer check it when I go in. Some luxury touches are missing like auto up and down windows, auto open sunroof, auto dimming rear view mirror, but hell it's a Hyundai not a Lexus. Car does have a huge blind spot so you can't just rely on mirrors. All in all a great vehicle and I do highly recommend it.
Excellent
Terrific SUV! Great handling, very comfortable to drive, and looks good to boot. Gas mileage is good. I took it on a vacation and was very comfortable in it as was my 7 year old son.
Ford/GM....watch out!!!
I bought a 2005 last month just when the 2006 where arriving on the lot...therefore $21,600 purchase price (+dealer doc & taxes). I priced honda, fords, gm, toyota small suv's..comparing apples to apples nobody could touch the Tuscon without adding another $5,000!!! I was looking for a bang-around car/sedan for the wife and two kids, honda civic =$20K, Accord ex 4 cyl=24K, 6 cyl=$29K..all with only front drive & traction control only (No stability control!) Honda CR-V =$27K - 4cyl. As you can see Tuscon==awesome deal and GO ANYWHERE drive line, can't wait for 3 feet of snow!!
good little SUV
All in all it's a great value. Roomy for a small car. Nothing is exceptional, but nothing is poor either except for the gas mileage. I'm getting 17 to 19 mpg.
Great Car
I run about 600 miles/week and I love it. Bought the 2.0 because I drive a manual. It's not a race car and it won't climb mountains but it sure drove well in the last two BIG snow storms. No need for 4 wheel drive. Quiet car. Lots of seating/cargo cominations and lots of really usefull, well placed/thought out features. We're getting a second one this month.
Love my Tuscon
Love it after 2 weeks. Best vehicle of all I've had so far.
THE "SMART" BUY
This is Dad's commuting SUV. I wanted something that affordable, cost efficient for commuting, and fit in the garage nicely. The fact that this card was only 170 inches long meant that I could park in the garage and still have room for the kid's bikes. (32 inches shorter than my old Intrepid.) I compared the CRV, Escape, and Tribute, Escape, and Santa Fe, Sportage. You just could not match the value of the Korean vehicles. I decided I like the look and Styling of the White Tuscon over Kia and other models. To each there own.
hyundai suv rating
purchased the vehicle due to satisfaction with the previous purchase of a 2004 accent (new), same dealer. Hyundai is on par with honda & toyota as far as I'm concerned regarding quality, performance and reliability. Dealer satisfaction is also high. The warranty exceptional and the additional bumper to bumper warranty is very reasonable. When shopping, the honda salesperson said Hyundai has to give a 10 yr warr. that Honda products are superior, so I ask, if Honda is so certain regarding it's products, why not offer the 10 yr warr., guess what, the salesperson had no answer. I'll stick with Hyundai for mileage and reliabilty.
Value for money
Bought new and driving for almost 4 years - no breakdowns till date - running smooth. Poor mileage (19-20 mpg)- time to replace the stock tires (39,000 - guess not bad). Car used to pull towards right - aligned the wheels twice (almost everytime during the scheduled service) - they can't figure out why it's pulling like that - now they're saying it could be due to worn out tires - but the problem started after 20k miles.. I am going to put Michelin on it next week and balance the wheels once again - will see if the problem still persists. Otherwise a great car - my first car was a sonata which also did great for 5 years.. I hope Tuscon also does well in the coming years!
My Hburg Tucson
We spent apporximately 2 month researching the purchase of a small SUV and everything kept pointing to the Hyundai Tucson. Purchase was based on price, appearance, and most of all safety. We compared this to the Subaru, Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner and several other types and ended up purchasing the Tucson, GLS V6 4X4. We love our Tucson and the way it handles and the comfort.
Tuscon is a good buy
The Tuscon is a well designed SUV. Good safety features such as Electronic Stability, and Air Bags all around. In 2 wheel mode power will transfer to the rear if the front tires slip. A button puts the car in full time 4 whl drive. The car calls for regular gas however I find that it is more peppy with premium. Handles great on and off the highway. Handles great at high speeds; road noise low. Rear seats fold flat along with the front passenger seat. Can handle an 8 ft piece of lumber with the seats down. Excellent sound system. Only negative thing to say is gas mileage. I get 14 to 15 locally and 20 on the highway. The more heavy footed you are the worse your mileage will be.
6 month owner
I have owned for 6 months, and have been very happy with it so far. After extensive comparisons and test driving, I chose it over vehicles like RAV4, CR- V, Liberty, etc. Why? Value for the price, comfort for driver & passenger, automatic with manual control, 4WD lock. My complaints so far are few: The console between the front seats is too low to function well as an arm rest, and needs to be about 2" higher (I'm average height). I would like an inch or 2 more clearance. The automatic transmission is not as smooth as I would hope. And gas mileage is not stellar for the vehicles size. That said, I'm extremely happy with the Tucson and would easily recommend it to others.
My Baby!!!
I bought my Tucson on April'04, since then, I've put 6K miles on it with no problems. After reviewing SUV's for months, I was undecided between the Equinox, the VUE and Tucson; fortunately, I think I chose right! Even though I haven't had the opportunity to test the 4WD, it seems to be a very solid vehicle with nothing less that good safety features. The vehicle has a decent gas mileage, but the engine could be more powerful; may be they can design a 3.X one able to jump over the 210HP.
My new Tucson
Overall, I am very pleased with the Tucson. This is the 4th Hyundai I have purchased new. I like the interior and exterior styling. The sound system is above average.
A nice SUV
It's Big on cargo area (bigger than the Santa Fe). I've driven this Tucson to Scottsdale, Az., Las Vegas, Nv. (twice), Big Bear, Ca., and had no problems at all! It's a wonderful vehicle for the two of us but it can haul kids too! I've done routine maintenance like changed the oil and had my auto mechanic check it out... there are no problems with it. We're pushing 12,000 miles already and bought it in May 2005. There are only two things I would change or make better... #1: Make the Hood a little more aggressive looking and ... #2: put in an extra gear when it is downshifting from overdrive. The next gear down is too low and makes the engine rev too high.
First Glance
What's this poor gas mileage? Got 26.3 mpg on the first trip of 320 miles! Sound system is great - cruise control is tight and the ride is solid. It's just fun to drive and I've been doing that for over 45 years. What used to be extras are included - heated outside mirrors, fog lights...and what a warranty that includes roadside assistance. Seems impossible to beat or even come close!
Buy one!
I did and you should, too. It is the most fun I've had driving a vehicle. Not too big, not too small.
tucson
With 3000 miles under it's belt, the tucson is our favotite over our Lexus 300GT. Styling is the best in category, but still weak and overall guality is excellent. A great buy for the money!
Best little SUV I've Ever Had
I have had larger SUV's and sedans and this is the best car I have had. It is great around town and for those trips to Home Depot or the Vet with my dogs, all the seats fold down.On the highway it is a joy with a large windshield to see and the height of other large SUV's . I can't see how the Sante Fe would be bigger because the layout and extra details in the Tucson are so great. Plus curtain airbags and ESB stablizer to help with over correction makes me feel so safe. The only draw back is the gas mileage is a little les than they promise , but I still drive for about 2 weeks on a tank. This is a great car!!!
First Week-First Impressions
Just bought my LX last week. First week impressions of fit and finish are excellent. Everybody who has ridden in it are very surprised by the quality of the workmanship (they remember the early Hyundai days in the US). Looked at the Ford Escape, but it drove like a truck and had the interior of a truck. It lacked the standard safety features of the Tucson and was only so-so to drive. Not done a long trip yet, but commuting in it has been a real pleasure. I go the Alpine Mist (aka green) and it is a very sharp color.
Happy owner
Vehicle fitted with lift for my electric scooter. The performanc has not been hurt with wth the extra weight. The only fault I found is the LCD clock, Totaly unreadable.
Golden!
Love the car and all it's outstanding features. Looks great, drives great...I could not be any happier.
Just love it.
We just love our new Tucson. Just came back from vacation and our V6 went right up those Pa. hills. The ride is very comfortable. The seats wrap around your back for support. We went to test drive a car and came out owning a Tucson, so glad we did.
Second Hyundai
Traded 4 year old Santa Fe in for Tucson. Sales lady was very friendly. I wanted a 4 cylinder, but they were out of stock. I am glad I got 6 cylinder. It has enough power for everyday need. The content level for the price is outstaning, including the warranty.
Great Car
I was surprised to read today that Consumer reports determined that this car would have poor reliability. I hope that is not true and would love to know more on what they are basing this.
Tuscon for Corvette
Traded 2002 Corvette for 05 Tuscon (even). Drastic change but no visits to service dept. after 1800 miles. Corvette couldn't pass dealership without needing service. Nice comfortable vehicle so far. Good use of space and comfortable ride. Believe it or not, better milage on the Vette. Main reasons for purchase (swap) warranty and even swap for vehicles. Had 75000 miles on Vette. Ran out of warranty in 20 months. Won't happen with Tuscon.
First Day...
We looked at all small SUVs and found the best values at Hyundai, so it was between the Santa Fe and the Tucson. The Tucsons interior sold us and the ride was very smooth and quiet. After we got it, during the long drive home (35 miles) the seats were alil too firm compared to the comfort of the Santa. We love the option of having the front seats fold down and make a long long back seat, very relaxing. We would say its not as powerful however its very adequate for around-the-town travel.
Incredible Buy
Bought the vehicle 2 years ago and have had absolutely no problems with it at all. It is a great vehicle to run around the city in.
Josh review
Fuel efficiency is great. The warranty is the best on the market. The exterior design is appealing.
Fun and Exciting!!!
I bought my first Hyundai (Excel) in 1993, & loved it. Then last year (2004) my partner and I purchased a 2004 Sonata & totally love it. So, when my Honda Civic gave out on me, I decided to take a look at the Santa Fe & was not impressed. I then began my research on small SUV's & was not too impressed with what was out there. Then one day I went with a friend of mine, to his Hyundai dealer, & saw the Tucson. Knowing that I didn't care for the Santa Fe I almost didn't look at it. I let my curiosity get the best of me & I'm so glad I did. I couldn't believe the room it had in it. I decided to take it for a test drive, it handles so well and drives GREAT! I LOVE MY TUCSON & you will too
Please Consider This Vehicle!
My last 3-4 cars leased or bought, have been Dodge or Chrysler products. Since this is my 1st SUV, I don't have a comparison. But, after a LOT of consideration about what kind of car I would want to keep for 10 years or more, this vehicle fit my needs. With annual mileage being always less than 12,000 miles, the 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty was a great incentive. Saftey and standard features were also a great selling point. Most other vehicles in same class were not close.
new Tucson
With in the first 1500 miles I had to take my wife to a Philadelphia hospital. That's a 250 mile round trip for me. The Tucson was great on the highway and even better driving in downtown Philly. I would recomend this small SUV to anyone.
What a nice truck
We were looking for something that we could "put stuff in" and didn't want to pay $30,000 plus for a Jeep. Looked at Chevy and would've paid more for a lot less. More airbags than my Volvo, took it on a trip from Jersey to Florida over the holidays and it was great!!! And I needed the 4WD in North Carolina of all places.
Finally a good one I can afford
I bought my new Tucson in February and have been reminded how much fun driving can be. I was very pleasantly surprised at just how comfortable and solid this car is. It has great stability and a very smooth ride. It rides more like a sedan than an SUV.
Its a pleasure to drive and look at.
This is my first Hyandai and I must say I am so pleased. Its more than I expected and a good looker many stop to look at this suv. I get a new car every two or three years and I would imagine that this company will get my attention all the time. I was also impressed with the management of the dealership I purchased my car from.
No more GM cars
After owning five new american cars and having nothing but problems, I decided to buy a foreign car. Many months of review and test drives kept bringing me back to Hyundai.I am so glad that the reputation Hyundai has put behind them as a cheap unreliable car.Only owning the Tucson for a short time ,I am sure with the quality and craftsmanship that went onto building it, I will be happy for years to come.Take note, another company to overtake American cars...Hyundai
my tuscon
We've only had it for 3 days, but so far we love it. We shopped around for about a month and the Tuscon was by far the best small SUV.
