It is what it is.

After 8 years the stick is still a fun drive. Typical of exposed braking systems is noise and caliper rattle at times. The headlamp filament is probably too wide for the vibration it receives and is prone to break about every 6 months-- I don't see this as an electrical problem with the headlamps. The brakes are very substantial for the car's weight and braking on slippery roads requires some concentration to maintain control. This was surely designed to be a fun, economical sports car. With TLC and a little help from the warranty, it is exactly that.

No major issues after 7 years

Bought this car originally for the mileage and warranty...and hasn't let me down yet. Nothing major (besides hitting a deer).....replaced normal wear items and battery. Only out of ordinary issue was a bad rear wheel bearing at 75K. Couple of design quirks....the cup holder sucks, tilt steering is funky to operate, the front end look is love/hate. Still averages 35MPG on the highway...only aftermarket parts is a larger throttle body and K&N drop-in filter. The paint does suck....clear coat is gone in spots...but all in all I got more than my $ worth out of this car. Good hauler too....did just fit 50 2x4 studs in the thing, all I had to do was take the headrest off the pass seat lol

Looks cute, but it's a special needs car

If I had eschewed the last three repairs (at least $6,000 ago), I could have afforded a more reliable used car by now.

Bought 2001 with 98k...knew nothing about Tiburons. Found it at a dealership online. Was looking at several other vehicles at the dealership. When arriving at dealership a hot red car was on display prominently in front. I said to my husband "look at that car, it's so nice!" My husband said "I think it's the one we are here to see".....I still laugh to this day when I think of that. I paid $5400 for it not knowing one thing about it. It was sold as is. We had a check for $3000 from insurance company because I totaled my family van...,we needed a car since we were driving a rental because of accident. Did not actually like the way it drove since I was used to a larger family van. But boy, did I LOVE this little car over the years!! Black leather seats and moon roof. We always get looks. Our boys both had their own cars so we didn't feel too bad treating ourselves to a small sporty car. I put 55,000 miles on it in 10 years. Not many problems. Just rust that developed on driver door and lights burn fairly often. I am thinking of replacing the door and having it painted. Can't give it up :( but I'm currently investigating rav4's but keeping my tib!

This in my opinion is a great car for someone that wants that sports car, but still wants the convenience, price, and reliability of an economy ride. Never had a problem and after a few performance modifications I found this car to be very quick.
