Used 2008 Hyundai Sonata Consumer Reviews
First Day
I took delivery of my Sonata SE this afternoon and I am really impressed so far. For years I've wanted a 4 cylinder with a 5 spd that was fun & value packed for a reasonable price, a la Hondas of years past. I had heard about the big rebates and called a dealer for a quote. They had the car I wanted in NC. The dealership sent drivers to get it and bring it back to Atlanta. Then they installed black leather and delivered it to my office for free. The paper work was as agreed, so no drama there. They threw in tires for life (sweet!) and I got it for less than 18 grand out the door which is just unreal. This car has so much value packed in it. Super nice & safe.
Excellent Car
I have really enjoyed my Sonata. Ride, performance, comfort are excellent. MPG is around 28.

Excellent So Far
Bought a "previously loved" '08 with 20000 miles on it. My wife and I are very happy with the vehicle. Great value for the money. I can't imagine spending thousands more on a Camry or Accord. How much better can they be? Ride is smooth and quiet, performance is more than adequate. Steering could be more precise, but is OK for a family car. Nice large trunk. Front seats could be a little longer for more thigh support, but are still comfortable. Interior quality is good, but the design is a bit lacking. This has been fixed in the '09's. Vehicle should come standard with ABS, but it is only on higher trim levels in Canada. OEM Tires are not great - noisy and wear quickly - will be replaced.
Unbelievable value
I bought this car this weekend using the referrals Edmunds makes available. This automobile came completely loaded except for NAV and Sunroof. I bought the car for $17321, net. The glove box cover needs some adjustments and I didn't get a valet key but I believe that these problems settled.
A Pig with Lipstick
I shopped around and the Sonata seemed to be the best value at the time. I was wrong, as they say "You get what you pay for". In the first week I noticed the ride just felt cheap and the tires squealed going around corners. I had to replace the back breaks at under 20k miles because the original set stuck or something and cooked the back rims and actualy browned the hub caps. Worse yet, I had to pay for this obvious manufacture defect. Poor fuel economy and with 44k miles as of 11 May, 2011 average fuel economy is 20.9! Tires were rotated but had to be replaced at around 22k miles. I do not abuse my vehicles and all maintenance was on time. Now the engine is ticking loudly.
