I love my car, but it has some minor flaws common to all of them. First off the turbo waste gate does rattle but only till the car warms up, then your good. It's not loud like everyone says, just annoying if your windows are down and the radio is off and you near a wall or something. Some people are just sensitive to any noise at all. Second, don't get the Navigation, because the touchscreen sucks and always needs re-calibrated. But that does not last and you push in one place, and something else goes off. Bad design and Hyundai's warranty sucks on the interior. Don't get sold on the 100K warranty. It has a lot of holes in it. If your not the first owner, it only good to 60K not 100K. And it's powertrain only, nothing else. Other than these small things, it's a fun quick car and reliable. I have about 65k miles, and no problems yet. For the money USED, it's a great deal if you can get it around 16K, like I did. Don't buy new, they depreciate like crazy cause their a Hyundai, not a Toyota or Honda by any means for resale value. But for reliability, they do hold their own, great daily driver. Gets a lot of looks and questions on what it it, especially with the wing badge kit deleting the Hyundai logos. People can't believe its a Hyundai. Overall, I love the car, it's great for the money.

I wanted something sporty, reliable, and affordable. After a ton of research, everything pointed to the Genesis Coupe. I am so happy with my decision. I was comparing used FR-S, BRZ, Mini Coppers, 328i, and of course the Genesis coupe. The Genesis trumps the FRS, BRZ and Mini in power. The 328i was nice but the up keep was much more expensive than the Genesis. I've had the car for a month now, and I could not be happier with my decision. The only cons I found is that the Infinity speakers are not as nice as I'm used to, but not awful. I would also never feel comfortable putting someone in the back seat, there is just not a lot of room, but that is to be expected with a car like this. There are back up sensors but not a camera. I don't mind not having the cameras but I know a lot of people are used to having that in cars these days. Pros: The trunk space is decent for a car this little. The power is amazing and not a lot of lag when you hit the acceleration. The thing just looks so damn awesome too. I have a white exterior with black and tan interiors (tan leather seats). I constantly come outside and have people coming to my car and looking inside of it and asking me about it. They cant believe its a Hyundai. I also put on the wing badges so I'm sure that slightly confuses people.

Love this car!

I can't say anything bad about the Genesis Coupe. I love this car. When I first started looking for a car to lease I was undecided about the make and model - all I knew was that I wanted something that had some power behind it and something that looked nice. I test drove several makes and models from several dealerships and never walked away thinking 'this is the car I want' until I saw and test drove the Genesis Coupe. I got behind the wheel and immediately felt comfortable. I took it out for a test drive and even though it was a 4 cylinder engine, it was fast and it felt like it had a lot more power to it than it actually has. It handled well on both city streets and the highway, it was quiet inside, the speaker system is good, the gadgets are easily accessible, it handled turns very well, and when I gunned the engine I could really feel the Turbo kick in. As soon as I got back from the test drive I sat down and worked out a lease agreement. It's been three years now and I have had zero problems (well, one minor problem that was fixed with a single 1 hr trip to the dealership) and zero complaints. I loved this car and will be sad to give it up. If I didn't need something bigger, I'd consider leasing another Genesis or buying this one outright. If I did have anything negative to say, its that the gas mileage isn't the greatest. I do mostly city driving and only average about 310 per fill up, and its an 18 gallon tank so I was paying between 45 - 65 a fill up, depending on how high the gas prices were. The mileage did improve drastically when I went on road trips and traveled mostly highway miles - then I could get well over 400 mpg. The other thing that isn't so great is the back seat space - any adult sitting back there is not going to be very comfortable (but what do you expect from a sports car) and the trunk space is pretty bad - I often could not get boxes or other larger items into the trunk and would have to put things in the back seat - but again, its a sports car, not an SUV. Overall I give this car two thumbs up and 5 stars - mostly because it is a fun car to drive, has amazing power, and after three years it still drives like new. I had only one issue with the Turbo that the dealership fixed in under an hr, and I had to bring it in for a recall, which was also fixed in about an hr, and other than that I've had no mechanical issues at all. It is a solid, fast and fun car.

The car was bought new and I had never seen this model prior to purchase. Overall the car is reliable, has good performance, affordable, and has eye appeal. I have not had any major issues with the car except paint flaking/peeling on the front bumper and the rear fender. The interior is what I would call generic for the most part but I do like the tan colored seats with the GT model. Additionally, when I first purchased the car, most people were impressed or liked the LED DRL since in 2013 this option was relatively new. Unfortunately , the headlights are halogen and should of been HID. Overall, I would say it is a 4 star pick with my only concern being the resale value since Hyundai is not looked at as being a high level vehicle. I should close by saying after about a year, I gave the car to my wife and she loves it but unfortunately she was not accustomed to the horsepower and has had several speeding tickets which is easy to do with its 3.8 engine.

rarely do i ever write reviews but i was so compelled to write one for the 2013 genesis 2.0t. i see a ton of mixed reviews at least for the 2.0t. The 2.0t is an extremely fun car for 25k. Power from the 4 banger is more than adequate if you're not an enthusiast or a tuner. Car receives a ton of looks, love the fact that it's not a common car on the road yet, it gives you a sense of exclusivity. Handling is good can take corners relatively well, but by no means is it on the same level as an FRS/BRZ. i see a lot of concerns and complaints about the waste gate on the turbo rattling, my genesis has about 2500 with no issue so far (knocks on every piece of wood known to mankind) overall pleased

A beautiful and comfortable ride ruined by terrible transmission and waste gate design. She's quick, relatively inexpensive, comfortable to ride in but she has a fatal flaw. She sounds like a bucket of bolts after three thousand miles. My friends think there's something broke but there isn't. The waste gate rattles loudly and the transmission grinds. Hyundai claims this is normal and won't do anything about it, essentially their build quality lacks.

Bought brand new in June of 2012. Have not had a single issue with the car. I did some upgrades, full exhaust, after market brakes, turbo mode, and misc exterior stuff. I have put a little over 80000 miles on it and still going strong. Starting to get some rattles in interior that are annoying nut other than that both the exterior paint and interior are holding up exceptionally well. It gets great gas mileage and is pretty comfortable for road trips even for my 6'2 and 230 lb frame. For the money I think it was worth it.

Purchased this R spec 3/22/13. Coming up on first 1000 miles, Love this car so far! This is our 2nd Hyundai in 2 yrs, My wife drive a 2011 Sonata 2.0T and we love that car as well. The 2.0 direct injected variable valve timing turbo engine is very stout and with 30k on the Sonata, trouble free. I hoped Hyundai would put that engine in the Genesis coupe, so when they did it was a done deal for me. That engine mated to a 6 spd manual is really fun to drive and I love the new look of the coupe. I also appreciate the simplicity of a rear wheel drive 4 cylinder. I am a experienced auto tech (30+ yrs) and find this car to be well thought out. Looking forward to a long term relationship.

Bought this car essentially new (4300 miles) five years ago (74k miles now). I've replaced the tires twice (Michelin SuperSports- every 25k miles), and the front Brembo pads (Hawk HPS @50k). Oil changes ~4-5k miles. Belt tensioner replaced at 50k. No other repairs! It's fully stock. Seats are comfortable and bolstered. It rides on rails with a tight, taut suspension, though not particularly forgiving on bumps. 6-speed MT is fun to drive even if the clutch is truck-like. Trunk is reasonably sized, but the opening is limiiting. Instrumentation could be better: cluster of three on the console includes only one useful gauge: oil temp. Suggest volt/ammeter or oil pressure could replace the Torque and MPG gauges. Interior materials are quite good. 360-degree visibility is good, though a camera would have been nice. Entertainment/GPS are typical for the time, but Bluetooth quit at 65k. A/C is excellent. Warranty is outstanding. Wish they'd still make 'em!

If you want a family-toting, long distance trip taking car, look for another style. This car is pure fun! Don’t try to squeeze a family in, just enjoy your daily commute, errands, quick trips to the beach... and all the admiration and questions you’ll get. Most fun car to drive I’ve ever had! *Update after owning for almost 6 years- longest I've ever kept a car without trading in on new! Still runs fantastically. Still gets comments, turns heads, and spurs compliments. I truly wish they still made this car! If they did with upgraded technology I would trade- otherwise, I am still happy to keep it.

My 2013 2.0T premium has a horrible rattle coming from the turbo waste. Hyundai refuses to fix mine or anyone else's saying its normal. Trust me when you hear the loose washers on a bolt sound coming from our cars you wouldn't like it either. Its awful! Wouldn't recommend this car to anyone since Hyundai refuses to fix them. It cost way to much money to own a car you are embarrassed to start around people.

This is my third coupe (have owned a 2009, 2011 and now the 2013) and I must say this car is the best yet. Great power, very good built quality and comfortable. All the best things in the g37 for thousands less and with a great warranty to boot.I find the stereo to be fine (300 plus watts more then enough for me), the navigation works great as does the Bluetooth. If your looking fort a sports coupe that will leave some bucks in your bank account, then it is a no brainer.

This is one really impressive car. From nose to tail. I owned a 2008 Infiniti G37 Sport and this car is a very close second to it. In some ways better. The design is a real head turner. The interior is quite comfortable and spacious. The interior and exterior illumination is fantastic. The sound system could be vamped up a bit but still sounds good. The ride is decent. A little rough and the road noise can be loud but not overbearing. Compared to the G37 it feels way lighter. Most standard features are the same in both cars but the Genesis does have a little more. I lease this car and I'm excited to see how the Genesis Coupe progresses in the future. I'm extremely happy I picked this one.

The decision for me came down to a used FR-S, Mini or Gencoupe. I chose a 22k miles Gencoupe for a lot of reasons. The head-turning styling, fantastic performance and interior trim all set the Gencoupe apart. The FR-S, with less HP and MUCH less torque, it looks great in the rear view mirror as you blow them away. Plus the Gencoupe has much more rear seat room for my kids. The Mini was the handling choice but lacks power. I love the wastegate chatter (I want to hear my turbo work!) but the turbo overall is not loud enough. The 6 speed tranny is fantastic- tight and precise, it's taken some time for me to learn to heel n toe with it (that's made a big difference in smoothness).

I'm the second owner. Bought this car two years ago. Best gas mileage i have gotten was 31.2 and i average on long trips 29 with 27.9 acheived easily. In town driving i get 20.2 to 21 mpg. I get compliments every time I drive this car followed by what is it / who makes it. I have no regrets buying this car. Hyundai today is not the ones from the 1990s. Fun, sporty, quick not fast. Although bone stock even with the 8 speed auto (Hyundai's in house made ZF clone) this car ran 13.57 @104 mph at Cecil county dragway in Maryland. I cannot comment on the 2.0 turbo. My friend has a 2010 track model, the interior trim isn't as nice and the quality is lower. That was a huge complaint so hyundai fixed this starting with the 2013 model year. Also added Direct injection to the engine as well as some beefed up internals. 2012 and older are rated at 306 hp compared to the 2023 and up mods getting 348 hp. Torque is 267/295 respectively. My car dynoed at 312 hp and 278 tq at the rear tires, although i do have many bolt ons. The trim levels are base model, rspec model that gets a racing suspension and Brembo brakes. A grand touring (GT) model that has softer suspension and open rear differential. And the top of line fully loaded, leather interior track model. The track model enjoys the performance upgrades of the rspec while adding all the luxury's of the top trim. Starting in 2014 the track edition was renamed the Ultimate package, and is identical except in name.

I was in love with this vehicle when I first purchased it -- I was 20, and I made the purchase all on my own. Instead of listening to my mother and getting something economical and practical, I chose to instead get a performance/sports car. Do I regret it? Some days, yes... other days, I deal with it. Some things to note: - Performance is awesome - Ride is bumpy - Backseat space is obviously cramped - Trunk space is small as well - Technology is lacking... the Bluetooth connectivity could be MUCH better; Hyundai hasn't manufactured a lightning-compatible iPod cable; the entertainment display is very dated - Outward visibility is awful However, I do have the base model, and the upper models are much more luxurious than mine.

I bought a 2013 Hyundai Genesis three years ago after trading my 350Z in. I thought my problems were over only for them to resurface again. The engine went out with only 62k and the warranty company wouldn't buy a new engine, because I don't receipts when I did the oil changes. I ran 10-30 weight during the summer since I live in TX and 5-30 in the winter. I babied it and only drove it on the weekends which explains the low-mileage. Now I'm stuck with payments and a non-running junker for the next two years. The engines are trash and weak nothing like Honda or Nissan. Buyers beware and steer clear from the Genesis. Enter at your own risk

I bought a brand new 2013 Hyundai Genesis coupe 6 speed, when I pressed the clutch the car makes horrible clanking and rattle noises. I took the car back and they told me that normal. I then switched the car for a different one and that car makes the same horrible noise. THe master mechanic at Hyundai states lots of people have complained but hyundai says they do not recognize this as a problem. I hate this car with a passion, it sound like your driving a 1980 sports car that rattles and clanks. DOnt waste you money the car is a piece of crap.

I had a 2012 GenCoupe auto that I was disappointed with and traded for this 2013 2.0T Manual which is a huge improvement in performance, economy, interior fit and finish. Having owned 5 mustangs I was ready for a change. With it's modern look both inside and out, better suspension, and value for the dollar I am happy I switched.

This car is amazing. I purchased after doing months of research. The others I considered were the Nissan 370Z, Mustang GT, and BMW 128i coupe. This car has impressive handling, a spacious front for driver and passenger, instant power, and awesome styling. I recently drove on a 4 hour drive and got 30mpg. I almost chose the 370Z, but I wanted something that had more trunk space and the possibility of carrying more than 1 passenger. The back seat is tiny and some passengers will find they have claustrophobia, but I like it for the extra space for stuff and like knowing that I can fit up to 3 passengers legally. The trunk is huge. 2000 miles so far and I love it.
