This is a Hyundai?
"That's a Hyundai?" That question I get asked almost every single day. The exterior design is exceptional with the Track spoiler, 19" wheels, and those red Brembo brakes. The interior is nicely put together as well. The touch screen Navigation is in a good spot as well. Performance is not blistering, but you're faster than 95% of the cars on the road. Things I like are the HID lights, the voice control, and the confirmation beep that tells you you're engaged in R, and leather everything. I dislike how there is no memory seats, no telescope steering wheel, no digital MPH display option, no back-up camera, only 1 level for Heated Seats, and the lack of smoothness in the shifter.
Mid Life Crisis
So far (2800 miles) I have had nothing but great fun with this car. It certainly is a head turner. When the turbo kicks in I get shoved back into my seat, which is great and the bolsters do a good job of keeping me centered in the seat. Cornering is fun and very stable. Speeds approaching 100 (or so I've heard......ahem, cough, cough) the front end gets really light). The sound system is pretty good, without being very loud on the high end. I love the ipod hookup and the XM radio. The shift pattern of the 6 speed manual is VERY tight and takes some getting used to. Overall my gas mileage is not too bad as long as I try (grin) to stay out of the turbo. I don't regret this purchase.

Genesis Coupe 6 spd Experience
I have had my Genesis now for a little over a month. Bottom line is that it has a great sports car feel at a price of a "regular" car. I have owned Hondas and BMWs for years. Nothing drives like a BMW but very expensive when the warranty expires. Hondas are rock solid but a bit pricey. I compared the Genesis and Civic SI. Hyundai was unknown to me as I have never owned but the extra warranty (5yr,50K) and Assurance program really made me give it a shot. I am glad I did as I really enjoy driving the car. So far so good as the quality seems outstanding and nothing, even minor, to report. Time will tell. Good job Hyundai...the Coupe is great value & performance in one beautiful package!
Worth every penny
Great ride, People think it's a new BMW or Lexus. I test drove the G37,TL,TSX,IS 250, and 350. This car is right up there with all of them. Handles like a sports car when you stomp on the gas. You can beat the price with the options it comes with. I was skeptical at first of a Hyundai, and how people were going to rag on me. But ever one loves it. I had to wait a week to get the one that I wanted but it sure what worth it.
Gotta love this car
Coming up on 4,000 miles and this car is too much fun! We stayed away from the manual after a test drive and went with the 3.8 auto GT. The track was more fun to drive but this is also our commuter so we compromised for a bit of comfort. No regrets, the auto trans is close, quick and smooth. The car is a definite head turner, its funny watching people coming closer to see what it is and then shaking their head in disbelief when they see HYUNDAI.
Amazing car
I bought my genesis coupe a year ago and I still get asked what kind of car is that? Driving is amazing Power is great No problems I'd buy another one in a minute
Simply fun! Cheap thrill!
I knew I wanted a fast car that is affordable, so I looked at the entry level of high-end cars, and fully loaded cheap thrills. From Chevy Cobalt SS to the Camaro, from Nissan Sentra SE-R to the Altima, from Honda Civic Si to Mazda 3... and a few more. I found out that the base model of the Genesis Coupe 2.0T has plenty of toys to keep me busy... An advise: keep both hands on the wheel in high speeds... I got the Genesis Coupe because the Hyundai brand proved to me their engineering and quality of the Sonata, mainly the ESC and ABS technologies. Plus, I always wanted a rear-wheel-drive car. You can't beat the fact that you only need to use regular unleaded, although you got the turbo there.
A Fun and Awesome "Genesis Joyride"
What a terrific car! Look out Infiniti G37 and BMW 3-series - the Genesis Coupe IS the best designed coupe for the value! I love just about everything on the 3.8 Grand Touring I purchased six weeks ago. Overall performance and acceleration on the 6-spd auto transmission is excellent and I love the "shiftronic" option with the paddle shifters. I chose the black exterior color, which contrasts nicely with the reddish brown leather interior of the GT. The high-tech gadgetry (the voice- activated and touch-screen GPS and Bluetooth) makes the Genesis Coupe so much more fun to drive. People ask me when they see my car, "That's a Hyundai?" and I proudly say with a smirk, "Yes, it is!"
hyundai surprise
I along with many others were shocked by this car. My wife and I drove 11 different vehicles from crossover suvs to sport cars before falling in love with this car. We both love the brown leather interior and as soon as u hit the gas its a hit. I cant say enough about how this car smokes the american made sport cars. Unless you bleed american muscle do yourself a favor and drive this car. Especially when dealers are charging 5k over sticker on those models. We had no intentions of buying a HYUNDAI. This is an amazing car.
Great Ride!
Hands down, an awesome vehicle at a great price. The genesis coupe V6 Track has plenty of power and stylish looks. Heads are always turning when I pull up to a stop light. So far, I have not been disappointed with the vehicle. It performs as well as it sounds when I punch the accelerator. In the words of Ferris Bueller, "If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."
Best Toy anyone could ever buy with 32k.
I've been waiting for this coupe to come out since last winter. M3, Infinity G37, Mustang were on my list, and I tested them all. M3 is not a daily commuter, it is more a race car on the track, so I passed. G37 I liked, yet the styling was too plain. Mustang was a nice car, yet everybody already has one. Then I got into Gen. Coupe. The first impression was stunning. Then I test drove it, I was sold. It was the perfect balance between M3 and Lexsus IS 350. It has great low end power, smooth all the way to 6500 rpm. I had so much fun in the Topanga Canyon Road next to PCH in Malibu. I was not much a fan of Hyundai, but ask me now, gotta say I'm a big fan. Gotta drive one to believe it
Valuable car
I looked to spend 25,000 dollars for a sports car this year. It was up to the Camaro and the 3.8 V6 Hyundai. The biggest differences between these cars is the creature comforts inside that the Genesis Coupe provides at a much higher level than the American counterpart. Although the Camaro is a nice bargain, the Genesis Coupe is a better deal
Great Car
I've had this car for a month, and I have nothing bad to say other than, unlike John below, I have run my front bumper up onto a curb or two.
Great Car
Love my Genesis Coupe; I purchased the 2.0T premium last August and upgraded to leather heated seats (love em). I was in a head on collision this week, hit a SUV that came across my lane at about 50 mph - I got out of the car and walked away w/out a scratch (people in SUV had to be taken by ambulance). Very pleased with the safety. I will be looking for another one. Fun to drive - some road noise on highway but that is the same with most sports cars. Highly recommend the Genesis Coupe.
New Genesis Coupe
Have only owned for a week, but what a great week. This is definitely a sexy looking Hyundai. The styling reminds me of the Porshe 944. The sheet metal Z-styling and wide rear end make a nice statement. Power is not a problem with the 3.8L V6 and it features a nice exhaust purr at start up and acceleration. For a coupe, the interior is quite comfortable (at least in the front)and well appointed at the price level. Ride comfort is what you would expect from a sports suspension and low-profile Potenza tires. The vehicle is longer than you would expect for a "Sports Coupe". Overall, if you are looking for a fun, great looking car you can't beat the 2010 Genesis Coupe. Big bang for the bucks!
almost perfect and not too expensive
I bought my 2.ot in december and love this car, maybe should have gotten the v6, but still very happy. The acceleration is very nice for the size of the engine. I haven't noticed any of the turbo lag that many have noted, just learned the sweet spots I guess. Fit and finish is nice although I could do without the silver painted plastic masquerading as chrome. Looks are great, interior is well laid out and comfortable. Handling is great, ride is nice. Great car especially for the money
A real pleaser !!
By far the best bang-for-the-buck out there today across any platform. Get the 2.0T as it will be more customizable and tweekable for performance as more and more comes out for it. If you don't want to tweak performance, then get the 3.8. This is one smooth, quiet and confident car when accelerating, braking or turning. As far as looks go, there is none better in this class. I get looks and double-takes at every stop light. I even heard a biker say "Look that is one of those new Genesis cars..wow I heard they sell for $ 60,000.00 !! :) Lol....little did he know that I only paid $ 29,000 Canadian for it.
great car so far
Bought this car on Saturday only one I have seen on the road to date. This is a great looking car with a lot of options very powerful engine great interior with plenty of accents and leather very fun to drive. Will let you know about reliability and speed later I am taking it to Bristol for the nascar race and will look for a place to open it up on the way
simply thrilled ...
The Genesis Coupe is a great little car and I'm having a ball with it. I've driven big Chryslers, Buicks and Cadillacs for the last 30 years. In many ways driving this Coupe feels like driving my early rides; 66 T'bird, 69 Cyclone and 74 Mach 1 ... eye-catching style and eye-popping performance.
PURE VALUE
WOW... A lot of car for little money. Lots of Power, no lag, transmission shifts at the right moment when power rolled on ( no lag). The car goes where its pointed with do under or over steering that I could tell, very quick to respond. Fit and finish is very good. Price...ahhh the bast for last, My GT autos only options were floor mats and locking lugs...price $28122.17 which included Tax, Tag Title, that $599 dealer fee, optional 100,000 mile 5 year bumper to bumper option (std is 5 year 60,000). Try to fine another sport's coupe for that price. A good value that a blast to drive.
Gotta Have it!
This car is so fun to drive. I love the way it looks and handles. The comfort is amazing and the stereo and Bluetooth connection to my iphone is incredible. It is beautiful to look at and has the problem to roll with the big boys.
Creaky and unstable
I've had this vehicle for a year. The thing has more creaks and protests from its interior than my mother-in-Law does about her aging frame. The handling on pristine pavement is fine. However, if the road surface gets the least bit uneven/rough the suspension simply becomes unpredictable. I've learned to modify my driving style when confronted with such conditions. Not the hallmark of a true GT/Sports car. At this point in time I'm glad that I leased as this vehicle. So, build quality and handling are things that Hyundai needs to consider if they want to be something other than a company that produces affordable cars that merely satisfy as opposed to excite and generate loyalty.
3.8 Liter Track Sweet Ride
Fantastic low end power. Competitive gas mileage. Decent somewhat original body style. Solid chassis, almost too stiff. Almost no body roll. Nowhere to be found. Very limited availability, especially on west coast. Will never be common like mustang. A little slower than g37, 370z, camaro v8, and mustang gt but has a strong package all around.
Love It
I have 0 buyer's remorse. I absolutely love this car! Honestly, I was very skeptical until I actually went down to the dealership and saw it in person. I knew at that point that this was the car I was going to get. A lot of reviews talk about a so-so auto system, with the premium you get the 10 speaker infinity sounds system. Honestly, I think that for the majority of the people the audio system will be perfect. The speakers are clear and can handle some power. The sub is a little underpowered. Like I said, for the average person, the audio will be great. Any one who spends 5000+ on their system won't be impressed but that's ok because they are going to rip it out anyway.
fun!
It may have been my mid-life crisis decision, but was a great one. Beautiful car. Can not look at anything else because others look way too plain after driving this car. Keeping it in the garage for now, but, love to leave it out and look at it out the window. Listens to me. When I want to go, it goes, when I want to stop, it stops, when I want to turn without stepping on the breaks, it turns. Wow!
This is a Hyundia?
After reading several articles on the Genesis I was offered a test drive by a local dealer marketing event in a shopping mall. I love the way it hugs the road, love the roomy interior, great high tech gadgets and looks expensive, after driving BMW for the last 8 years I traded my 328i for my first Hyundia coupe. Hyundai keep up the good work.
Perfect sporty/flashy daily driver
Awesome potential. Motor clearly underrated. Wants to breathe so much harder but intake and turbo back constrict this a lot. Tuner's car. Also very responsive stock, but also very civilized. Suspension perfect for daily conditions. Indoor surprising, love lighting at night! Outdoor will get you praises. Cat-back piping section is crimped for some reason..again doesn't breathe quite well. Guarantee's interesting as few things can and probably will go down between 3rd and 5th year of usage..not to overlook. Insurance go easy on Hyundai brand so that's good too. Watch out winter tire cost.
LOVE IT!!!!!
My husband just bought me this car for my 50th birthday...what a great way to kick 50 in the butt!!! I've had it for 4 days now, and I love it more everyday. It is a blast to drive and I'm having so much fun with the paddle shifters. It is quick, handles corners and turns with ease, and the Brembos are awesome! Take one for a test drive....you'll fall in love too!
That's how you build a car!!
I had been researching into getting a new vehicle and the infinite g37 had caught my eye, but upon further research i came across the Hyundai Genesis Coupe and I'm glad i did. This was a great purchase performance, style and reliability this is one top notch vehicle. I get constant stares and compliments i love this car and am glad i saved a large chunk of change by giving Hyundia an opportunity to gain my business..
Excellent Sports Car- Fun to Drive!
I bought my Genesis Coupe a few weeks ago. My brother introduced me to the car; reporting it to be one of the best cars out this year. When I first laid eyes on this car, I couldn't believe it was a Hyundai! The exterior is sleek and very sporty. The interior has all the bells and whistles as a 350z or G35/G37. I was upgrading tremendously, coming from a 07 Toyota Corolla! The ride is smooth and handles well around corners. You know you love your car when you look back at it 3-5 times as you walk away!
Love it
I was looking at other performance used cars, such as BMW or Infiniti, and came across this. As much as I wanted the other cars I looked at, I have been very pleased with this purchase. I get constant stares, as many others here have, and the performance is amazing. I've modified it a little as well. The ride quality is nice, a little bumpy as expected with a sports car. Fuel economy isn't great, but it isn't bad either. Overall, I really enjoy my Genesis and hopes Hyundai continues to deliver such great vehicles
People Keep Asking
People keep asking me about this car and commenting on how great it looks. I get a lot of "thumbs up" when driving down the road. I was hesitant to give up my Saab 93 convertible but am glad I picked this car when the market fell out from under Saab.
great value but with a caveat
Bought the base model with automatic trans. and have been test driving (breaking it in ) since got it. Generally fun to drive but base model lacks power and engine is noisy like hell during 1st. and 2nd.gears upshifting. Even while it's in idle the throttle vibrates like a wild pony. Other than that it's been great so far - the technology included like Bluetooth, XM radio, Ipod connection can't be beat. The handling is great - you can feel how firm the steering is, gas mileage not bad .either
Super fun
I would love to submit a review on this vehicle. The look is superb and is definitely a head turner. I have a friend who owns a Santa Fe and it was through this referral that I even considered a Hyundai. I initially did not think I would find any vehicle in the 'sporty' line but indeed I did. This is a great ride and I look am happy I made the purchase. May I also note the dealership was excellent.
Best Coupe I've ever own PERIOD!!!
I test drove manual and automatic. Manual is ok - it's stiff and jerky. However, it had short-shift installed which was very nice. ZF-automatic 6speed on 3.8 is Excellent!!!. I bought 3.8 Track and it's fund to drive. Tough ride, but worth it. It handles curves like M3. I'll buy GenCoupe over Infinity(nissan) or Lexus(toyota) coupe. I saved money not buying Japanese this time, got more for the money and FUN to DRIVE. I love this car. When Hyundai come out with new Genesis coupe in 5-6 years from now, I'm sure it will be even better.
genesis coupe 2.0 is a sweet ride
Once owned a Honda crx the gas mileage was great but the quality and ride of the Genesis coupe blows it away. Considered the eclipse and the forte coupe but they don't compare the the Genesis coupe. Internet dealer gave me best price held true to it went out of his way to find me the exact model I wanted. Test drive one and you will see for your self. 2.0 has plenty of power 80 in a flash and wants to go faster but generally I never go that fast
Driving is fun again
After 25 years of driving practical sedans and minivans I finally decided to get something with a bit more spunk and style. After looking over the usual players, the GC really surprised me in terms of value and just plain fun. Now I actually look forward to driving to/from work, or running errands for the Mrs.
Awesome, awesome, awesome!
This is an amazing little car, it is beautiful, sporty and definitely turns heads. It is the kind of car that will get you into trouble, cause it likes to go FAST! The performance is great. By far the most fun car I have ever owned. A couple of things to mention, the voice command leaves something to be desired, it only does what it's told if I yell at it in my "mom voice". Be sure to check if your cell phone is on the compatible list, my phone is not compatible and when connected the phone constantly rings (phantom caller). Also have had some issues with the passenger seat clicking into place after someone sits in the back or gets out. There are only two cup holders.
Love my Hyundai Genesis Coupe!
Have owned my Genesis Coupe for more than 1 year and still get stares from other drivers! This beauty is really FUN to drive! Had a mechanical issue with the Electronic Stability Control light but dealer provided a free loaner and took care of the problem. I can't help looking back at my Genesis Coupe every time I walk away from it! For as my neighbor said: "When they designed the Genesis Coup[e they sure got it RIGHT!" Never would have considered buying a 300+ horsepower car until I saw it up close and in person. I'm not a lead-foot, and have experienced a consistent 27 miles per gallon (even though it's an automatic)! An amazing car for an amazingly low price! Thanks, Hyundai!
Love this Car!
Owned the Genesis Coupe for about three weeks. What a car, performance and power is great and what a value. Would recommend this car to anyone. Love the ZF automatic transmission and the roar of the engine and exhaust is really cool!
Get the V6... Awesome car!
So I am a recent college graduate and I wanted something that would be fun to drive. I first tested a 2.0Turbo automatic and a 3.8L V6 manual... initially the clutch was a bit rough to get use to but after two test drives I was convinced. The V6 is very powerful for the price and just everything about the car feels like your not paying enough. The base V6 still has the ipod connections and interface, blue tooth, black leather, auto headlights and climate control. Don't think that you need the upgraded sound the base sound is still great I was very impressed. Do yourself a favor and get the manual V6 feels and sounds like a muscle car.
What a car!!
I've had my Genesis Coupe GT for only a week now but all I can say is "Wow, what a car!" After test driving a Camaro and then laughing at the salesman when he told me of the $3,ooo minimum mark up above sticker, I tried my luck on a Pontiac G8. Nothing doing there either. So I went across the highway to the Hyundai dealership to test drive the Genesis Coupe, and boy am I glad I did! The Gen Coupe handles amazingly on all types of roads. I've already driven it on the interstate, local roads and hilly, winding roads as well. Power is abundant, and the transmission shifts smoothly. The suspension and cornering are sports car tight and it hugs the road like it is bonded to the pavement.
Hot Wheele
Just bought a Gen 2 turbo last week. What a fast, fun and good looking vehicle. People stop me in parking lots to ask what kind of car it is. I keep finding new things out about it as I drive. The 2 l is plenty fast and exciting to drive. It's a great car.
Great Performance - at any price
I had bought 3 previous Hyundai models for members of my family and none of them have disappointed me yet. But when Hyundai went into the sports car market I wasn't quite sure what to expect - the Genesis Coupe, like the others didn't disappoint, it is clearly the best yet. I have owned other sports cars, BMW, Mercedes, and a Camaro and the Genesis Coupe outperforms them all in overall performance. Love the exterior and interior designs, everyone who has checked it out has been impressed. The interior is plush but sporty with a cockpit feel to it, the controls are easy to use, and the technology of bluetooth, XM radio, and Ipod connections add to the exceptional performance of the engine
Beautiful is what i'm hearing
i absolutely love the styling of the vehicle that is why i bought it. i have received quite a few raving compliments on it already. gas mileage is 29 on highway and about 20 in town which averages to about 24 when driving both. it definitely feels like a sports car. my only regret is that i did not buy the top of the line. money was tight and i didn't feel justified spending too much (i bought the 2.0 premium, but i really, really wish i had spent more to get the bigger engine, the fog lights, side mirror lights, etc. i was able to have a spoiler added to the premium package by the dealer and the spoiler really makes the car look great. nothing else out their compares!
In the Beginning
If this is how Hyundai enters the sports car market I can hardly wait to see the refined product a few years from now. Handling is excellent. Power& low end torque are good. Exterior styling is luscious; far better than the vanilla g37,370z, mustang and the clunky camaro. Interior styling is pleasing and the seats are way comfortable without sacrificing support. Forward visibility is excellent. Rear window visibility not so hot; proper mirror adjustment compensates nicely. Whether driving in town, on the interstate, or backroad twisties this car behaves admirably. Steering is responsive and provides good road feel. Rear end feels hooked up and predictable when pushed to this car's limits. Great car!
Daily Drive
Traded my BMW 328 daily drive. The genesis coupe is really fun to drive. Seats are luxurious and comfortable. Handles great on all the turns and the catback has a great sound with the 6 speed auto climbs the gears nicely. My weekend car is C6 corvette but both equally fun to drive. OK I took off the huydai fron grill and replaced it with the chrome aftermaket grill for looks.
Genesis Coupe 0-7500 miles Experience
My 1st Hyundai. Previous car was a 2007 VW GTI (owned for 3 years). Reliability Mechanical issues: None to date. Electrical issues: Sterno once slow to respond (Winters day 12 deg F). No problems since. Trim issues: None to date Performance Engine: strong, very smooth and quiet. Try to stay in Auto mode now as quite easy to chug along at 65 mph in 4th gear without noticing. Gearbox: Smooth, fast response. Suspension: Planted but can sometimes feel as though your tires need inflating slightly (when they don't). Overall Impression: This is an excellent car & fun to drive. Knocks the spots off the GTI I owned and that car usually receives 5 top ratings in most magazines.
Sweet Ride!
Finally picked up my Gen Coupe and it's a blast to drive! I've always wanted a rear drive coupe and have to say I'm most satisfied. Got mine for $31,500 and is the best money I've ever spent. Too much fun. Super smooth shifter, love the limited-slip diff, the Brembos are fantastic! You must get the track version if you get one! Why not spend a few more bucks and really deck it out. The car is so incredibly solid feeling. A friend of mine has a 350z and it already looks out dated. The Z is definitely a fun ride, but not for the price and the difference in technology compared to the Gen Coupe. Did anyone hear Hyundai spent around $700 mil and 100 engineers developing this platform?
drove it had to have it
all the sales person had to do was get me behind the wheel, it sold its self. Great power and just fun to drive. Gets a lot of attention since there are not many out yet.
