I bought the 2014 Equus Signature, black with tan interior, just a great car. I shopped the Mercedes S550, BMW 750 and the Lexus 460 before making my decision on this purchase. Realistically there is no comparison, this car rocks the competition. The interior of the Equus is awesome, the seats are exceptionally comfortable, the controls are nicely positioned and the stereo is tremendous. The interior amenities are as they should be in a car of this class. The fit and finish is comparable to the cars costing $40K more. The performance is similar to both the S550 and the BMW 750 in acceleration, the ride is more closely related to the S550. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a car. UPDATE- The car currently has 46K miles and seems to only get better. The car has not had a single issue( knock on wood), I still can't say enough about this car. Keep up the great work.

This car rides like a dream! Gas mileage is acceptable in the city and good on the highway. Comfort visibility and performance are great! Shift to Sport if you need power and handling shift back to Eco mode for normal driving. The snow mode works well. Sound system is excellent. This a great car especially if you buy it used with low miles. It is a luxury car and as such is not meant as a commuter car. At high speeds it floats and feel safe. Buy an extended warranty to cover all the toys and talk to your dealer nicely and they will support you. You will love this car. To repeat its a dream to drive. Made 3 trips to Florida at 25 hours each way. Great performance. Update: trim issues. Performance and ride till anazing!

This car is phenomenal. Hyundai Equus Ultimate SPEED: The 429 hp can really be felt. You can take off the traction control and put into sports mode and it'll really jump! DRIVER MODE: Normal, Sport & Snow DRIVER DISPLAY: The heads-up display shows current speed, cruise speed, lane departure lines & blindside warnings and GPS directional arrows with mileage. SMART CRUISE: The smart cruise control is ideal in those traffic jams. LIGHTS: The headlights curve as you turn. The fog lights add more visibility. The rear indicator lights are brighter and yellow. SIDE MIRRORS: When parking the side mirror automatically fold in (you can also manually fold them in too). When in reverse you have a rear camera, bird's eye view and the side mirrors automatically rotate downwards to see the lines for parking. They also automatically defrost and have yellow indicator lights on the front. WELCOMING: When you walk to the car when it's locked there are lights below the side mirror which light up & fold out before you unlock the doors (without removing the key or having to press a key). When you open from the passenger side or rear doors all the doors will unlock. Once inside you feel all the affects of luxury. The Equus logo appears on the driver display and plays some music. Once you start the vehicle the same logo appears on the large screen. SCREENS: A large screen in the front and two 9.8" for the passengers. They are located on the back of the driver and front passenger's headrest. CHARGING: You have two cigarette chargers in the front armrest and two in the rest seat armrest. There is also a USB port SHADES: The rear shades and rear passenger shade are all automatic. The side door shades actually descend into the door when they are pressed down (by the window button). DOORS: If they are closed with a slight gap the doors will automatically pull them in for a full close. They are solid and heavy doors. SEATS: Power seats are adjusted from the door panels. The driver does have 2 memory options that can be set. Also all seats (except the rear middle seat) have a/c and heating for your bum. This is in the leather perforated seats. The front passenger seat can be adjusted by pressing buttons on the left side of the chair (can be initiated by the driver or the rear passengers). AUTO HOLD: This button allows you to take your foot off the brake. It will be released once you push on the accelerator. Nice option for city driving. TRUNK: Find it very large. Hold two golf bags and two sports duffle bags. Also is a power trunk controlled by the key, below the steering wheel and on the trunk. RIMS & WHEELS: 19" rims with great finish & the logo. The rear tires are wider than the front two tires. It is REAR wheel drive. SOUND: 17 speakers that is a 598 watt Lexicon 7.1 Discrete Surround (there is a youtube about it's quality). This is an absolutely fun ride!

The 3rd transmission and still the same problem

I bought an used 2013 (40,000mi) Equus Signature being one of three that I purchased to serve in my town car fleet. The other 2 were Ultimates. After driving it only 2200 miles the transmission went bad so under the conditions of the warranty I took it in. They claimed to have replaced it after 3 weeks to have me return it the same day with the same problem. So I had to wait another 3 weeks as they said they put in another transmission in it. Well I got it back and was able to drive it 3 months before it started the problem again. If this is a warranty??? this is how to sell Excell's not an Equus. Buyers beware of the g90 they have the same 8 speed transmission.

I have a 13 which is basically the same car as the 16. It has cost me zero in maintenance. After 38 months and 45,000 miles I noticed the top of the headlights were starting to show "yellowing". This car stays in the garage. I mentioned it to the dealer when it was being serviced. Hyundai replaced the headlight assemblies. The car has been rock solid. The only issue was when it was less than a month old the seat massager went out, it was replaced under warranty. It is now 4 years old, it still runs and looks new...no problems. It is now 5 years old...seat massager went out again, it was replaced under warranty. Very satisfied. It is now almost 7 years old, no issues. It has been a great car. We will definitely consider a Genesis for a replacement when the time comes. I now own a Tesla, the Genesis was nicer in a lot of ways. It was a fantastic car. I would buy again.

2013 Equus Review

I purchased a 2013 Equus in December of 2012. The car have lived up to all of my expectations. I looked at BMW, Mercedes, and Audi and non of them could come close to the features of the Equus for the price. I could of spent $40,000 or $50,000 more for one of their cars with similar features. One of the biggest difference in the Equus vs. the other manufactures is the engine! Try to buy a german manufacture car with 429 Hp. You better bring your check book! I changed the logo on the trunk and no one knows what it is. The car gets a ton of looks and compliments. Save yourself a fortune and get this car, you won't be disappointing.

Bought a used 2014 Equus signature and all I can say is wow baby! I have owned 2 Audi A8s, MB E500, 650i conv BMW, 2017 mustang gt conv, and I do not miss any of them. The power from the Equus V8 is more than enough to satisfy my cravings for quick acceleration from any speed. 0 to 60, or 45 to 70, or 75 to 100 mph, this baby can get you there quickly in total comfort. I am 6ft2 and my singular and I mean singular complaint is the driver legroom when the seat is raised higher. If I lower the seat, no problem, but after 2 back surgeries, sometimes I need to raise it up some. Legroom is still adequate, but I do like to stretch out sometimes on highway long rides. Fuel economy is better than listed if you don't drag race at every stoplight. I we not from VA beach to Tampa, Fl and back. Almost 2600 miles in 4 days and I averaged 27.2 mpg at an average speed of 77 mph. Much better than its advertised mpg. Sound system is great with the 14 speaker lexicon system. I have the rear entertainment package and heads up display, blind side detection and adaptive cruise control. When I drive it, i remember the comfort and road poise I felt in my Audi A8s. Better reliability with Hyundai for much less. Miss the AWD, but doubt I will need that in Florida. I have a GMC Denali for the crappy weather days. Speaking of my Denali with active noise cancellation which is AWESOME! :), the Equus is pretty darn quiet too at highway speeds. If you are looking for a solid luxury car without the German reliability nightmare and high cost of ownership, I highly recommend the Equus. It's big and long, but so is the Audi A8L, MB S class, Jaguar XJL, and the Acura RLX. I test drove them all several times, and I would still pick the Equus over all of them. Besides, depending on where you live, there are not too many Audi, MB, Jaguar and Acura dealerships so your towing expense is going to be high. Finally, if you like to drive something that everybody does not have or know someone who has, then the Equus is for you. The reviews are great and the car is a solid, well built machine. Your money, but why waste it on something that will spend more time in the shop than your garage and you will trade as soon as the warranty expires.

I previously owned a 2013 Hyundai Equus & unfortunately lost it after loosing a 10 year job due to layoffs. I became ill in August of 2017 & homeless by Dec 2018. I really loved my car...the look, the ride, the style was so amazing. It didn't matter where I went so many people complimented it's beauty. I don't know if you've ever experienced the ride, but I long for the opportunity to own another. I don't know why Hyundai changed the body style in it's newer models, but there isn't any comparison. If you are able to test drive the older model in your state, please let them know this Marine Vet sent you... Dwayne

Had the car about 6 weeks and 1200 miles. By far the best luxury value on the market. No, It does not handle like a sports car...it's a luxury car! I for one want it to ride like a luxury car. If I wanted a sports car, that's what I would have bought. So far we love it! Update, car is now 6 years old... Couple of minor paint issues which were taken care of by Hyundai. Still a great car. Update: After 3 years the car has been great. Had some paint issues on the front bumper that was taken care of hassle free. UPDATE: After 4 years I had to have the seat messager pump replaced...under warranty. I know, 1st world problems! Been a good car so far and you forget how nice it is until you drive a different car. UPDATE: Car is now 7 years old, still looks and runs like new. Great vehicle. UPDATE: Car is traded in on a Tesla. Owned it about 8 years, very minor issues. I would purchase again.

Just about the same car as expensive brands from Germany but with more technology and a much much better warranty. Also when you take your Equus into the dealer your do not need a second mortgage on your house to pay the cost of maintenance. The best rear seat comfort that I have ever experienced. I have two Equuses and neither have let me down. A great car for a great price with a great warranty!

After owning 4 Lexus LS cars over 10 years, the Equus has proved to be a great surprise. Super smooth and very quiet ride, incredible sound system, and people have actually approached me complimenting me on the looks of the car. My next car will likely be the G90.

2013 - Purchased a new Eqqus; also purchased the extended warranty. The first incidence - rear-ended which put my car in a body shop for more than two mos, waiting for one screw from Hyundai. 2018 - (approx 90,000 mi), the transmission failed (Hyundai USA was gracious enough to replace as a humanitarian courtesy) 2018 - rear suspension collapsed - warranty expired; paid out of pocket 2019 - STRUTS failed - paid out of pocket 2020 - STEERING failed - paid out of pocket 2020 - ALL FOUR bushings failed simultaneously - paid out of pocket 2020 - REPLACED front windshield (paid out of pocket - window cost more than deductible) What next? My dilemma is,"do I keep the car and wait for the engine to blow up, or purchase another car, which certainly will not be another Hyundai product. Wish me luck. I will explore, "The Lemon Law," in California. This car was good then went horribly bad. (I think I've been in this website earlier detailing car issue)

It's a perfect car no matter how much it costs. Both external and internal design are awesome with no compliant at all. It's a real shame that most people still believe the German cars are the best. When taking price into consideration, the Equus is unbeatable. The only concern is the 2014 design does not have massage seats. After 1 year, I still love this Equus as there is no issue so far. However, I noticed a lot of reviews saying problem of air suspension at certain mileage. Hope this will not happen to mine 2014.

I love my ride. It has everything I need and I can ever hear my passengers when then speak from the back seat. It handles great in the rain and on most any road you do not feel the bumps or hear road noise. This is the third one me and my grandfather have bought along with four of the genesis. Only downfall is that dealerships near me have no clue how to work on them. The navigation updates should be free to access and buy rather than a dealership like superior hyundai whom is clueless how to work on the vehicle let alone know how to update the system. Luckily we have found us an amazing mechanic, who can do anything when it comes to working on my equus and others we have bought to resale. The 2013 is by far the best we have spent 0.00 dollars in fixing anything major, all has been basic maintenance oil changes, air filter etc. I highly recommend 2012 and 2013 equus years and do not recommend the 2011 the air ride systems on that year is awful along with all the other issues that the dealer could not fix. I love that any place I go, I do not see my same car in the parking spots. I always get compliments and asked what kind of car it is. Once i open the door they are always amazed. Truly a beautiful ride! I absolutely love mine!

Car was 3 years old with 25,000 miles. I went from a Lincoln Town Car and, at first, was a little disappointed in the Equus. The Lincoln had less tire noise and quieter at high speeds. Seating comfort and roominess are about equal. But after almost a year of driving the Equus, I find the ease of handling superior to the Town Car and when I punch the gas to the V8 to get on a crowded Calif. fwy., the Equus has it all over the Town Car. After 10,000 miles of driving, performance and ease of handling has convinced me to buy another Hyundai luxury car.

Equus Ultimate ? NOT

SO If this car worked properly it would be an awesome car however it doesn't, I have spent quite a few hours days weeks in the shop only to hear excuses and bull on why my car doesn't work properly all the time. Do you want to hear from a Hyundai mechanic there's nothing we can do because the computer platform is an old outdated system windows 98 that's what I was told. SO air conditioner in auto position wont blow cold air unless you turn it to max cold first then go to desired setting so I was forced to use the ac button, seat memory wouldn't remember the settings it took many visits to the dealer to convince them something was wrong oh yes their initial response to EVERYTHING is could not duplicate issue well they replaced the driver mirror that didn't fix it then the door mechanism that seems to have done the trick. The front end is continually going out of alignment they blame me saying I'm driving the car rough??? What ? I've owned many many cars and NEVER had issues with alignment like this car. Now for the issue with windows 98 the computer systems don't work the same all the time for instance the sensors that detect cars to the left and right sometimes the detect and sometimes not . the rear camera will occasionally blank out where you see nothing for a few seconds while backing up enough time for something to enter the area behind you and for you to potentially to hit it. I was told well that's not an issue its inherent in the vehicle well it doesn't do it all the time so its not inherent it's just messed up. The head rest on passenger side front seat is now rattling due to car shaking all the time. The analog clock is running fast when you pull up the digital clock the time is correct but you can't see that clock unless you go into the menu the clock you see is not in sync to the internal digital clock?? how is that even possible. I was told that the car doesn't have a function that unless your seat belt is on you can't move the car well my car has had an issue where when I got into the car started it tried to move the brakes were applied not by me by the car and I get a message stating that a door is open or trunk is open and seat belt not fastened Well doors were closed trunk was closed and when I put the seat belt on the brakes released But my car doesn't do that I was told !!! I have video and pictures now that it does in fact do that. Also when you come to a stop and car is not in park and you open a door the doors wont unlock so I put car in park and back to drive back and forth no unlock I hit the unlock button no unlock I was told this was a safety feature BUT at the dealer we tried uit and shift lever wouldn't unlock the doors but the door lock button did they don't want t o hear that it didn't work. I have never had a car company so indifferent to my concerns from my first cars back in the late 60's to now not willing to help telling me that they can not duplicate the problem and trying to shift the blame to anything but the car having problems. ALL my cars in the past either worked or didn't work not a sometimes work. in order to keep from getting reports so you can get help from a lawyer they have that down too either not able to duplicate or they will hold a ticket open so it appears you only have taken the car in 1 time for an issue when actually its been 4 or 5 times . so today I will be taking my car back to the dealer to get the clock fixed the front end fixed I hope or what ever is causing the shaking BTW I got new tires and had the dealer balance them AGAIN at my cost to make sure they weren't going to say its your tires!!! and get the rattling headrest fixed. My advice don't buy a Hyundai they might look nice and appear they have all the great things Mercedes has or Lexus they don't!! They don't treat you right they don't service you right they don't help when you have a problem. they say don't make any money to diagnose problems why would you even say that ? I don't care if you go bankrupt diagnosing my car fix it or take your lemon back !!!

After looking and wondering why any one would spend 80,000 to 120,000 on a German or Japanese luxury car I have come to the conclusion the world is full of idiots. My 2014 equus is so close in all categories that the thought of spending big bucks on the German or Japanese luxury cars makes me laugh. They are all just cars and nothing more . I drove them all then looked at the window sticker and just laughed. The only one that made sense was the equus. update 2 years after above rating now have 72000 miles car has been very good. Had a ECM module go out when car was well out of warranty . Hyundai stepped up and covered this 1500 repair Thanks Hyundai

If you have owned a Lexus, I don't think you'll be satisfied with the Equus. I am at 4 months of ownership, 2800 miles, and there are quite a few paint chips on the rocker panels due to stepping in and out of the car. It's obviously not just me, because they are on both sides. Lexus has a metal plate where Equus has a piece of painted plastic. That's an engineering flaw in my book. I'm being told this isn't warrantable because it was caused by the user. I also have a small tear on the leather on the drivers's side door. i don't have the space to discuss the buying "experience" but it's not one I will repeat...with bait and switch by 1 dealer and addition of BS charges by another.

Equus - Beware of unfulfilled promises!!!!!

I looked at several cars prior to my purchase of an Equus. The dealers kept telling me how reliable the Equus was and emphasized their "valet service". Overall I have been happy with the performance of the car. As summer wore on I noticed that the interior of the car would get to 82 degrees on a hot summer day with the a/c at maximum settings. I contacted Equus and they set up an appointment with Alexandria Hyundai. As a part of their valet service they are supposed to pick up the car at my location and deliver a "luxury" loaner car, either an Equus or Genesis. Alexandria Hyundai has cancelled 3 times because they have only "1 luxury loaner car". When I commented that this was the third time that this had happened I was told that it was because the person that had the loaner car out was not satisfied with his service so they were still working on his car!!!!!! What a joke. I again contacted Equus customer assistance and they schedule an appointment with Fairfax Hyundai. Once again they were to provide a Genesis as a replacement car. They showed up an hour late and brought with them a Hyundai Sonata. If Equus and wants to play with the big boys (Mercedes, Lexus, BMW, Infiniti) they should put up or shut up. We were considering purchasing a Genesis as our second car but based upon the unkept promises of Equus I guess we won't be spending any more of our money on a Hyundai. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra bucks and get a car that has some support behind it - not just a lot of hot air.

Its Not A Lexus But It Doesn't Charge to Be One

Only complaints I ever really had about this vehicle are: (1) Its got to be one of the most worthless navigation systems I have ever seen I used a $ 115.00 Garmin most of the time in my otherwise luxury sedan and (2) gas mileage is horrendous as compared to the competitors. Ultimately I ditched the vehicle for the two reasons above. I am a realtor and I need a good navigation system and gas mileage that beats what this car offers. I opted for a Land Rover HSE. I figured if I was going to get poor gas mileage I would at least get a vehicle that is fun to drive. A limousine type vehicle will never be a fun drive.

This is a lot of car for the money, however, the resale value is low compared to the car. I have had my Equus for 5 1/2 years and have had no roblems except for the side mirrors driver side where I have to adjust it every time Had the dealer fix several times, but still not quite right. The maintenance service has been excellent and the Equus drives very well with absolutely no problems. The design of the 2013 was great and still looks classic. Plenty of trunk room compared to Mercedes. Very comfortable ride

The a/c is sub par. Seriously, how could not have paid more attention to that. I've owned two signature models with same problem. I hope the warranty is for real.

The 2014 Equus is a great ride and very comfortable and quiet. Unfortunately it is not very reliable. I have had to replace the transmission, air suspension system, rear view mirror and power seats. Luckily I purchased the extended warranty but without it the repairs would have been nearly $20,000.

I have owned this vehicle for about one month. I could literally live in it. I’m in love with my car. It’s the most comfortable, luxurious and finest vehicle I have ever owned. The looks I get are amazing. People are just stunned. I am so proud to say I own my signature 2013 with only 57,000 miles. I am only the third owner. It looks like it just rolled out of the showroom. I got it from my sister in law. I always admired the car, but never dreamed it would be mine. I’m a very happy person.
