In january at 8k miles i had constant oil system issues. Reoccurring oil pressure lights eventually lead to a check engine light and a red oil light. i needed multiple sensors and my oil pump replaced after my car was towed in to my hyundai dealer. (after about 3 failed attempts at solving this issue they fixed it). My car seemed to do fine for about a month and a half after these repairs. now, i have the same intermittent oil pressure warning but alongside constant cvt issues. slipping and loss of acceleration is not okay at 12k miles!!! my transmission slipped and lost acceleration while merging on a highway. i was stuck going 30 mph. no warning lights or any stored codes. My transmission also now makes an obnoxious whining noise on acceleration from only a complete stop and seems to follow rpms. Hyundai said my tranny was fine but it obviously is not. hyundai won’t even let you touch the cvt fluid without voiding the warranty which is such a red flag for such a crappy transmission! Just a waiting game until this thing blows up. literally get any other car i don’t know how hyundais reliability is even close to top of the charts if they can’t make a car that can last even 10k miles without repairs or constant issues after another. im so done with this pos car

Purchased a new 2024 Hyundia Elantra SEL in spring of 2024. I drive for work, so obviously wanted a new, dependable car right? Wrong. 1st oil change 2 months later in May at 5k miles, at the dealer. Went fine, next week car is out of coolant. Leaky thermostat. Ok no problem, Drop if off at dealer for warranty work, says it will be done in a week. Wrong again. About 2 months later after hardly any updates I finally get it back. Hyundia customer service agents deserve a negative score. ONE DAY after getting it back, I notice water sounds in the floor. Sounds like a gallon of water sloshing back and forth every stop/acceleration. Again, bring it back to dealer, which were not able to provide a rental car again in a decent time period. Dealer says they will check it next day. WRONG. 2 weeks until I get car back, and guess what, it still makes the sound. This entire time I have been in contact with the dealer I bought the car from - ZERO help. Also in contact with Hyundai Customer Support - ZERO help. This car is advertised as dependable, I have had the complete opposite experience. I have bought used cars from people off of Facebook and had better customer support than from HYUNDAI. Its a cheap car, gets great MPG, but loads of issues, every interior body panel rattles it seems like, and the paint quality is garbage. If you want a dependable car from my experience, steer clear of a 2024 Hyundai Elanatra.

Corrosion in thefirst month

Ted Janka, 08/20/2024
2024 Hyundai Elantra Limited 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl CVT)

Only 450 miles on a new car and the dash displayed collision warning lights, low tire pressure, no turn signal indicators and went black. The vehicle spent 10 days at a certified Hyundai dealership while they and the factory tried to determine the cause. After the whole dash assembly and drivers console were removed, a "corroded" wire in the wiring harness was discovered and repaired. Make one wonder how does corrosion get in the wiring harness of a new car, and are there more wires affected, and how many other new Hyundai vehicles may have the same problem lurking. Hyundai America has refused to take this lemon back. This is my family's third and "last" Hyundai product.

Unusual things

The car runs fine. Seats are comfy. Radio and other luxury items are fine. The steering wheel phone is awesome. I got a laugh out of the placement of the cup holders when one of my dogs stepped into my drink when getting out of the car through the front seat. Not crazy about some safety features. Safety messages appear randomly (like lead car is moving when the only thing in front of car is the garage door). The most unusual thing is the way the hood lines up, it is impossible to lift wipers away from windshield. There is no way to avoid the wipers from sticking to the windshield if it snows. It’s also going to be an annoyance when the blades need to be replaced.

This is a wonderful car. Certainly not without fault, but no car is. I left a '13 Honda Civic and I thought it was a great car. It's amazing how far car tech has improved in that time. I have the Elantra Limited, so it's loaded. A lot of great features. You almost need an advanced degree to understand and use them, but I'll assume that's with all cars these days. It drives well. It absorbs bumps and handles pretty well. It's no speed demon, but it's certainly good enough for everyday driving both highway and city. One of the biggest surprises is the racket it makes when you floor it. It, to me, is astoundingly noisy. I don't drive where I need to floor it a lot, but when you have to it's surprising how loud it gets. I love the lane keeping assist and how it coordinates with the cruise control. It's not a hand free driving system, but almost. You have to be careful because the system can cut in and out sometimes on curves and if you're not paying attention, you can veer into other lanes when it does. Hyundai does a good job warning you about it, so pay attention. Generally, the system is very helpful, but it's best on highways and the open road. I live in the mountains, so I don't depend on it on curvy, mountain roads. The car reviewers complain about the interior being plasticky and cheap. I don't think it's that bad. I don't know anyone who touches the top of the dash board regularly and would comment on how cheap it feels. It's more important where you rest your elbows and in that regard, it's fine. The Bose system sounds wonderful. You hear instruments and riffs in the music you've never heard before. One nit picky thing is the lack of a small compartment for change or other small item. There's the small compartment under the dash, but that's designed for phone charging. I put small stuff in the small indent in the car door. My mileage has been right on the money in terms of what's advertised and real world. One thing I've noticed is that sometimes when I fill up, once I drive away, the gas tank doesn't indicate it's full. Almost full, but not quite. It doesn't happen all the time, but it never happened in the Civic, so it's not where I fill up. I'll inquire about when I get it serviced. It's a really good car and the reviewers acknowledge as such. I have a little less than 3,000 miles on it in about 2 months. I'll add more as I go along, if I have more to say. *****OK. It's been close to a year and what's disturbing to me is the car's fuel gauge. I've been in 2 times for it. I fill the tank. It clicks that it's done filling. I start the car and the gauge says it isn't filled. The first time, they changed the evaporate canister . Today they changed the fuel level sensor. I went to fill up immediately after. I was at half a tank. It's a 12 gallon tank, so I'm expecting an approximately a 6 gallon fill up. Stopped at 4 gallons. Started the car and I'm down 1/4 tank. Took it back to dealership, showed them and then set up an appointment for next Friday for attempt #3. I've googled it and it doesn't seem like a known problem.
