2013 Hyundai Elantra GLS 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 6A)

Did my research and picked a 2013 elantra, have 2 thousand miles on it aready ...and this is my review i'm only going to note the cons ...hope hyundai looks at these reviews to improve the car 1) car doesn't look like a econo-box but sounds like one when driving it, way to much road noise ...and makes me feel like i overpaid for this car.
2) engine is underpowered by at least 10 horsepower or needs more low end torque for quicker 0-60 times , struggling to have enough speed to merge safely onto highway. the accent has 138 hp, the elantra has 148 hp and the sonata has 198 hp ....need more power

Best Features

gas mileage, looks and legroom ....for all those drivers out there that own elantras try brand name regular unleaded fuel not corner store unleaded fuel there is a difference and reset your mile per gallon indicator every time you start your engine and you will see a more accurate reading ....insted of the mean average for that whole tank of gas that your seeing

Worst Features

1)have more sound insulation like under side of hood there is no insulation pad to soak up engine noise it was designed to have one they sell it on ebay so why isn't it on my car and no spare tire is dum another item i have to buy on ebay 2) tweek the engine for more horsepower or offer the sonata 2.0 liter 198 hp engine as a option

Before purchasing my 13 Elantra GLS I test drove every other compact car in this segment. The Elantra's cabin was the quietest and the engines power is on pare with all the others in this class. When you test drove the vehicle (I hope you did) if you disliked the engines power and road noise why did you buy or lease it? The last thing on peoples minds when shopping in the compact car segment is 0-60 speed. If Hyundai increases the 0-60 torque and or speed MPG's will drop. One of the main reasons why this car is such a high seller is because of its MPG rating. Point being, go buy yourself a midsize or full size car.

The 0-60 on the Limited, which is heavier then the GLS, is in the 8-second range. That's better then a Accord SE, better then a Civic EX, better then a a Focus SE, better then a Cruze LT, better then a Volt, better then a Dodge Dart SE, better then a Camry LE, better then a Sentra (Without that annoying CVT).. It's not a performance sedan, folks. But even still it's very very respectable in it's class. It's not at the absolute top of it's class, but it's faster 0-60 then most of the vehicles in it's class. I'd even call it "reasonably sporty". I'd prefer the accelerator profiles be adjustable, but I can't complain. Having driven a Honda CRX and various SUVs most of my driving career, I can't say I have much to compare it to, but I honestly think some people are expecting BMW-levels of comfort in a $20,000 economy car..

That's interesting that it seems underpowered to you- I find it more than adequate for merging on the highway even in tight situations where you might need that extra bit of pickup. It's definitely not a WRX, but you also are getting a LOT more for your money and much better fuel economy. As for the road noise, again, I wonder if you got a partially assembled car or something bizarre like that, I find that road noise is more in the range of the mid-size sedan. Anyway, hope the car grows on you!
