Engine blew up mysteriously at 7 years old and only 60k miles. Total Loss. Hyundai seemed unwilling to do anything. No warranty due to second owner. I will never own a Hyundai again.

AVOID Hyundai. Its horrible

Make sure to read before you buy any Hyundai or Kia. Also, read, all other reviews that mostly reveal the negative experience of owners who bought a hyundai. My car is an elantra. Here are a just a few issues. First, the whole power steering coupler problem that Hyundai refuses to reimburse even though it is their defect. Your tires will bust or at least will require alignment every few months! My tires blew up when driving at night with bags full of groceries, and I could not take the car to the shop that day because they were closed. The customer service is purely horrible, and the so-called corporate office refuses to respond. Second, the tires only last about 30,000 miles due to the wide size on elantra models (not sure about other models). So, if you an average driver, you will pay for the tires with alignment and balancing every 1-2 years (ouch!). Third, as someone stated about the neutral safety switch. I replaced the battery, and the car is still having problems due to the malfunction of the safety switch. Fourth, Hyundai overstated quite a bit about mpg on city and highway driving. It listed as 27/37 but it is more like 25/35. Check all the lawsuits and the hearings Congress requested from Hyundai. Constant repairs, an unsafe vehicle, and too many headaches. Invest into another car but avoid Hyundai!!!

Just hit 6,000 with the car. I took it on a road trip from Austin, TX to Flagstaff, AZ. The drive is mostly highway with 75 miles per hour speed limit, mostly flat grounds, not much traffic. I maintained a speed around 75-80 mph. The total trip avg. speed was 62 mph. I averaged 37.7 mpg. At one point in New Mexico I drove 150 miles at 42.5 mpg at 75 mph. I suspect I was driving downhill most of the time with wind in the back, because I was not able to duplicate that. I was able to achieve the best gas mileage after I did the first oil change at 3,750 miles. I made sure I put in a high quality engine oil and put a brand gasoline, medium grade, and the gas mileage around 37 to 38 was achieved.

41000 Leased Miles Review

Review based on 41000 leased driving miles in SE Wisconsin. No major mechanical problems. One recall repair for defective airbag headliner support bracket. Scheduled maintenance costs low. Ride somewhat noisy and rough, including side-to-side jostling over stretches of rough roads. Poor performance in snowy/slippery conditions (could have been a tires issue). Maneuverability excellent. Feature set excellent - an amazing value for the money. Beautiful exterior styling - got lots of compliments on the car. Interior comfortable, fairly roomy and well designed. Outstanding fuel economy (low to mid 30's combined city/highway). I would recommend this car.

I have had it for 2 weeks now and 1000 miles. The car got 37mpg on the highway from the dealership and I'm averaging 32.5 on country roads. The mpg should pick up more as the car gets broke-in. Fun to drive on twisty roads, and from a start it actually takes off well. It is a lite car and on rough roads you get moderate road noise and the bumps are noticable, hey its not a 5000lb caddy, your going to have that. The seats are so comfortable and I love the bluetooth and all the other goodies. Had some snow on the roads and gave me a chance to play with the traction and stabilty control, I would purposely put the car in a slide and the car would quickly straighting itself. I love this car.
