blows smoke
i have seen multiple comments online about the elantra blowing smoke. i have had the same problem, almost causing an accident on the freeway at 65 mph. people were swerving behind us. the dealership said we were blowing the carbon out, but we were doing 65 mph for quite a long time before i had to go into passing gear to change lanes to get off the freeway. Who do we escalate our complaint too ?
Wow...what a great car
Great car at a great price. I am averaging 35mpg so far and that is combined. Great warranty and a great looking car with a quiet ride and really nice leather seat heated front and rear.

Perfect except for 1
This car is amazing! I always lease cars because i want to drive the latest model without having to pay a big hefty sum every month. The Elentra was not an option at first, thinking it would be as tight on the inside as a Toyota Corolla. WRONG! this car is amazing! Both my husband and I are tall, we can comfortably sit in the front and back seats without anything touch our knees. Also we have an infant with a car seat plus we carry the stroller everywhere we go. Cargo space if nicely designed to fit more items. And the GPS and bluetooth are amazing features. got it for $1900 and $246/ month for 35 months.
best ever
I have owned Hondas for the past 10 years The main reason was that I was a Honda salesman during that time Also Honda's comfort, cost of ownership and reliability were buying factors. My lease was up on my CRV so I started to look for a replacement. After reading all the positive reviews for the Elantra, I decided to give it a try Years ago I would look at a Hyundai vehicle After driving the Elantra I was blown away by its quality appearance and ride Ive had my GLS for 3 months and LOVE IT Great gas mileage great features outstanding vehicle. Run dont walk to your Hyundai and try one
Buyer beware..suspension death trap
This model through 2013 have a dangerous side to it. the handling over small imperfection in the road and road being wet make handling this vehicle extremely dangerous for any novice driver. Those of us who have driven for a good period of time will realize fairly quickly this is an issue. the rear end will kick to either side at speeds as low as 30 mph over any road imperfection outside of smooth roads. When the roads become wet it becomes a death machine so bad that you would think you lost a tire ( I actually got out of the vehicle to inspect the tires several times when I first encountered this). Be very aware of this when purchasing these vehicles. Otherwise outside of a small metal loss of steering control death cage it is a perfectly fine vehicle.
