Reliable commuter!

I have had mine for over four years now. I bought this to replace my Jeep Liberty due to the rising gas prices and my daily commute on the highway. Immediately we went from an average of 16MPG with the previous car to over 32 MPG with this car, cutting our costs in half. Typical in town driving sees about 28MPG and on the highway we get 34+ MPG. I do not drive slow so I am sure that we could squeeze more out of it if necessary. It fits one car seat, a 10 year old and a booster seat in the back and has big enough trunk space for a weekend trip with a stroller. Overall this is a great car.

A car that competes with a bigger class

Here in Mexico it´s one of the best cars for your money.Being rated one of the best new comers in its class for the following reasons:Motor:only top premium sub compact cars, like Toyota or Honda, had CVVT Continous Variable Valve Timing, plus 16 valve, plus double overhead cams, which means more power, with more fuel efficiency,(top modern technology)but at a Hyundai Price. As being automatic transmission, its not to dull,it just takes a couple of seconds but once the gear is in,watch out,you won´t notice you´ve past your speed limit. It rides like a car of a bigger class, soft & smooth, better space than Toyota Yaris and Honda Civic and it rivals with Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla etc.

Purchased used with 20,000 miles at a great price (thousands less than comparable Hondas, Toyotas, etc.). Car drives great and has been very reliable. Disappointed in gas mileage for a compact car (30 mpg average). No reliability issues.

I have been very satisfied with my new Hyundai. I have actually exceeded the mpg of 36.54 on highway and avg 30-34 city driving. The handling is great. I spend much time in it and feel very comfortable. Car experts I've talked to say it can easily go 300,000 miles if taken care of properly.

Great drive for its money

I´ve had the car for five months and the pro´s are: great soft and smooth ride for a car its class, soft and no outside noise, good noise insulation and good stereo for the price, and lots of amenities. Great room for its size, good trunk space, and great handling in curves. The cons: not great gas mileage 21 to 23 miles per gallon on the city, if you don´t drive fast; but if you are those of whom, like driving fast it will give you less than 20 miles per galon, but the car will respond fast enough for city needs, and its fun! On mountain roads you have to push the acelerator, but the ride is stable on fast curves,I personaly use the 2nd gear, and turn off the overdrive and it responds nice!

I´ve had the car for six months now, the build quality for its price is excellent, the ride, handling and the motor are better than my honda jazz/fit, but you have to sacrifice on gas mileage and top premium finish. The stereo is good compared to cars in its price range. I bought this car vs onother honda jazz/fit, because of its lower price, more space and motor.I love my honda, but liked more the looks of the hyundai sedan, its larger interior space and more motor. If you prefer low gas mileage and don´t mind small interior and like top premium quality materials for a compact sedan, get the honda, for space, larger motor and good quality built at low price, get the hyundai.

Mediocre Hyundai Accent

I bought this car used from Enterprise Car Sales. It is a 2006 Accent GLS with about 45,000 miles on it when I bought it. It still had some of the 60k warranty left, which turns out I really needed! The car was fine for about a month, then a sensor went bad. Took the car to the dealership and they fixed it, it was covered under warranty, I was only disappointed that I was not provided with a rental car. Now I am at 54,000 miles, purchased that car 5 months ago, and an engine coil went bad. Took it in to the dealership, and turns out the warranty doesn't cover new spark plugs or a "decarbon" which I was told i needed, so this little car is starting to cost me quite a bit of money in repairs.

Excellent car to own. Sometimes need to double clutch to get in reverse gear. But this is only a slight inconvenients - not a problem to be concerned about. Excellent car to tow behind a Motorhome, just put in neutral, turn key to "ACC", and off you go (I pull the fuse for the dash on long tows).

I love my little car. The only issue I've had is a wire-thingy that caused my break lights to stay on. Took twice to get it fixed and was a bit of a pain, but was under $100 to get it fixed. For 77K miles I think that's pretty good. Gas mileage is excellent... I average 36/mpg.

I traded my 01 accent in and planned on getting a tiberon with the v6. I ended up going with the accent again. I had 93000 on the 01 and it is great on gas. The build quality of the 06 is much better then the 01, which is great to begin with. The main thing and the only thing I do not like with the 06 is the rear suspension, which I can live with. Hyundai has done it again with the 06 accent and is getting better fast year after year, Toyota, honda, watch your back. This korean manufacturer knows how to build them. (I was also looking at the Kia spectra 5, but the 2.0 is not worth the extra cost, same company anyways.)

This is a great little car. It is very roomy and comfortable inside. You can't tell by looking at it from the outside but it has alot of trunk space. It handles really well and the ride is so smooth. Because of this, you do have to keep an eye on the speedometer. You tend to speed without realizing it.

I bought this car specifically to get better gas mileage as my old car, a '99 Buick Century, was getting up there and losing it's MPGs (about 20- 21). As the gas prices soared, I thought I could and should do better, it was time for a new car. With all the Hyundai spots advertising 30/39, I thought the Accent would save me so much money in the future. Wrong! The car only gave me 21MPGs out of the gate. I bought one of those air flow jobbies and only got it up to 23- 24MPGs. I could have stayed in my Buick for this and it was already paid off! The look and the reliability are great, but I'm so disappointed overall. What was the point if the MPGs aren't nearly what they're claiming them to be?!

I bought my Accent after beginning to have trouble with my previous car, a VW Jetta Turbo. Notice my ratings above, they are completely honest. I have been very disappointed with the gas mileage for a car this size and with this little performance. My fuel economy averages in the mid-20s overall. I did exceed 30 mpg on a couple of long road trips, but only reached 33 mpg. Performance is pitiful if not down right dangerous. Its difficult to enter a crowded Intrste Hwy w/o getting pummeled. Now here's the good stuff. Haven't had a single hiccup with this car. The reliability has been perfect for 2 yrs/53K even in tough, city driving. The design and build have far exceeded my expectations.

I just bought this jewel and will only learn about it's reliability as time passes. It is very manuverable and good on gas. I would encourage anyone to take a look at all Hyundai's. Their bigger cars are extremely nice looking, as the Accent

The 2006 Accent sure has impressed me. I have had it for 3 months now and I'm very pleased with its performance. Very good gas mileage, am averaging about 31 mpg combined. It is very quiet and drives very nice and smooth on the highway. I have not found any faults with this car yet. It does not have cruise control but I would buy another 2006 Accent in a heartbeat if something happened to this one.

I am very happy with my Hyundai Accent. It is my first car, and it is great. The gas milage i get is super and it is tons of fun to drive. The exterior and interior have a lot of character and detailed touches. I only have two minor complaints, it is a little loud when accelerating, however once at the right speed you could hear a pin drop. The other thing I dont like is the suspension is a little bouncy when you have people in the back seat. Other than those two things, this car is perfect. I chose the accent over the elantra, because it had more safety features and it was smaller. I looked at the Toyota Yaris, but there was a 2-4 month waiting list, so I went for the accent.

So far, so good. The Mileage is better than I expected. EPA rates the manual @ 32/35. I have been getting 35.79 average mpg after the first 2500 miles. This is with a 30city/70hwy commute. This is driving 65/70 on the hwy. Purchased this vehicle for a daily 130 mile round trip commute. I could only afford to spent a set amount. I asked my mechanic about choosing a vehicle. Asked him about a brand new Accent, or a one year old Corolla. He said buy the Hyundai. This came as a shock initially. But he has family memebers with Hyundai vehicles with similar commutes. Frankly I really expected to be led to the Corolla, having reservations about Hyundai's reputation from the past.

I just wanna say that I love my 2006 Accent it has a ton of stuff that most economy cars dont have like 4 wheel ABS ,front and side air bags , several cup holders , armrest in the front pass side and rear seat. 4 wheel disk breaks, CD player with 6 speaker system , and a Tachometer with rebate I paid 12,500 with the manual Trans. I think this is the best Deal on the market and the new design for 06 is sweet mine is wine red and it gets 35 mpg so far.

We have only had this car 1 week, but the husband loves the great gas milage he's getting. We picked the Accent over the Elantra b/c the ABS & the 8 air bags came standard, on the Elantra they are options. We choose the sports package that includes A/C, power windows and door locks, heated mirror,15 inche alloy wheels and an alarm system. After the rebate, dealer fees, tax, & tags, we walked out the door paying $13,775. We feel we got a great price. Thank you Edmunds and other car websites that help the consumer get the best deal for their dollar. Also helpful was the dealers inventory pages. With our research in hand we were able to confidently walk into a dealership ready.

I love the feel and smooth control, the car runs like a bigger more expensive car. Will see how reliability will be, but with a solid warranty better than Acura, I’m sure it’s solid….

The car seems to be very well built and the ride feels like that of a much bigger vehicle. The truck is large and all controls are in the right place. I have not gone over 55MPH nor exceeded 4K RPM (as suggested by Hyundai for first 1200mi.) so can't rate acceleration. Engine is quiet and idle is very smooth. Suggested maintenance skeds using time against miles is absurd. I only use this car 250 mi. per Month. Change Mobil 1 oil and filter at 3 months with only 750 Mi.,ridiculous. Same with plugs..24 months at 6k miles. Most wear comes from miles, not time!! With so few miles MPG is dissapointing. I know it will improve. The finish on metallic paint does not seem hard nor very glossy.

Even though I am aware that I should not be talking about the purchase process, I feel I must point out that I originally ordered a specific package and color (premium/d. sapphire blue) and the dealerships kept leading me on about how I was to get it within a week, until a month later it came, in which they had to order it, ranging in more of a wider area. Very aggravating and annoying (that the manufacturer chose to charge 800 extra for a/c and did not make enough cars with the premium packages available in the area. Anyway...it has been a great little car, love the exterior, interior and almost everything in it. A little road/wind noise, not many cons.

The small engine is plenty for this car, especially if driving it with a feather touch. I expect to get some decent mileage figures this way. Decent features that come standard. Plenty of airbags and ABS! CD player is standard. I loved the little car so much, that I bought two! One for me, and one for the wife.

This is the best little car I ever drove. It's comfortable, roomy, tight brakes, excellent handling during turns, better than average stereo system, quiet motor, relatively low road noise, and gets reasonable gas milage. Much more comfortable and roomy than my previous Honda Civic. I feel like I'm sitting higher up, which helps me "aim high in steering". And at less than $13K, it's a steal. I'm very happy with this vehicle and would highly recommend it!

My absolute foremost reason for buying this car was for the gas mileage. The mileage I am getting stinks, city and highway . The car is nice and quiet on the road but without cruise control and without the promised 36MPG I would rather be in my 2004 Forester that gets a solid 28MPG on the road. Other owners report good mpg. Are you driving at a steady 50 with no a/c and a brick (cruise control) on the pedal?
