I have to say that owning this vehicle has been even more fun than I imagined. Good looks, nice interior, a solid build quality and just an overall good value. I have yet to drive a vehicle that I didn't think could use improvements and this one is no exception. I find it a bit difficult to adjust the seat due to the tight placement of the controls. It's a minor annoyance because I rarely adjust the seat. As far as the "power" issue is concerned, this powertrain works well for me. It tows my jet boat without a problem and the pickup (for me) is more than adequate. If an upgraded engine was available I would keep the extra money in my pocket.money.

Purchased new dark blue H3 base model for Michigan winters and the Hummer styling. Exterior design is striking. Off-road is great, very nimble and inspires confidence with ground clearance and stability. Good ride on-road. What is going on with the driver's side arm rest? I accidentally lower the windows when I get in with my elbow and the arm rest jabs into my leg (I'm 6'2"). The driver's seat is positioned too low and deep. My left foot hangs up on the parking brake cable. Great buy overall, though. The 2007 has 15 more horsepower which would be nice.

A Head Turner

Great driving experiance for under $40K. Commanding view of the road, much more than our TBlazer XL. Got it loaded up with Lux Package, Chrome Package, Head Rest DVD System, etc, all for far below "what others are paying" on this site. Make no mistake, it rides like a truck. But it is classy, turning radius is exceptional and I can't wait to take it through a snowstorm. Very rigid truck - you just feel in command when driving it. Get the step rails - you'll never get in or out without them. Unlike the H2, it doesn't scream "look at me I'm special". It is not a rocket, but unless you will be towing a 5th Wheel (don't), the Inline 5 Cyl is more than enough - don't listen to the complaints.

Last time I wrote I was annoyed at some technogly issues. The Hummer sevice people fixed them. Now I will objectively state the pros and cons of the H3 based on mine. The are pros good gas mileage for an SUV, show stopping looks , nice interior for GM , decent handling characteristics , roomy back seat, and the ride comfort of (I have ridden in both of these cars) a Lincoln Town Car and Cadillac Deville/DTS . The cons are not enough horse power and torque for sporty driving , getting to highway speeds easily, or towing, poor rearward visablity , and poor cargo room. I consider eather waiting for the SRT8 Jeep(45k). If you can afford it the Range Rover Supercharged(90k)the best SUV in the world

Traded in my Avalanche for new H3. Much better mileage and the style really turns heads. Much easier to park and more agile. Maybe a little underpowered but rides great on the highway and off-road is supreme. Worth a look if you want a smaller SUV. Plan on trips with 4 people or less, 5 is crowded.
