Super great car, with a few issues

The car is great in almost every way - drives like a luxury sedan, is quiet, responsive and hi tech. There are a few annoying aspects. The driver's / front row seat belt should ride up about an inch higher. I'm 6'1" and its not quite high enough. Not a show stopper but certainly annoying. The arm rests for the second row seats are like sticks. They have no width to them. These won't comfortably support an adult's arms. What the heck? It seems like they cheaped out on this to save a few dollars but its ridiculous. Bad decision on their part. Another very bad decision on the design is that they seemed to have reduced the height of the interior (and overall height) of the car. I could load two or three biikes in my old Odyssey with the middle seats out with no diffifculty. In the new Odyssey its very very difficult to arrange two bikes to fit. Possible but difficult. I know they're trying to make the car sleeker, but reducing the height just takes away functionality. One reason to buy a minivan is for its loading capacity. The height dimension is important. Again why did they do this? This is the most annoying change to the vehicle. Anyway, other than that, the car is just great.

Switched from 2007 to 2022

I had my 2007 ocean mist Odyssey EXL for 14 years with 215,000 miles on it when I totaled it on a frozen bridge couple of miles from home. My kids grew up in that van that took us all over the USA and Canada. Never had any issues. It was a truly family vehicle with tons of storage space. Wife insisted on another Odyssey. Got 2022 EXL in March of 2021. The vehicle looks sharp, handling is amazing so is the acceleration. Ton of safety features that practically allows van to be “self driving .” Wife and my grown kids love the new van. I am not crazy about it though. Yes, I love the electronic steering versus pump driven one, but I feel the hesitation in the gear shifting. I am not implying the the transaction is bad, it’s just different from the 2007 model. What bothers me also is that the van doesn’t feel to be a family hauler anymore. They made it sporty while completely removing the in floor storage along with all the hidden storage components that used to be in the third generation Odysseys. The grill on 21-22 models is different from 18-20 models and it’s ugly. Wish Honda kept the original one. It’s my personal opinion based on observations that the Honda quality isn’t there. It feels as if the “dealership will fix” mentality has taken over since there’s a huge deficit of the new vehicles. In couple of spots I see the gap misaligned and the rubber weatherstripping on the lift gate window is kinked and twisted. Overall the van is a good buy and no major issues.

First time in a Honda

This is the 8th van that I have owned. The first being a 1963 model year. They have come a long way in 60 years. I have owned Ford Chevy Mercury and Dodge vans and have been driving them for most of my 52 Years of driving. When I first started looking I had my mind on a Chrysler Pacifica. That Idea ended when I found out they did not have a spare tire and there was not place to put one. A spare tire is very important to me and I would never buy a vehicle without one. After back to researching I looked at the Odyssey. It had a spare tire so that meant a trip to my local dealer to see what a Odyssey was about. I was impressed at the looks inside and out so I took one for a test ride. I liked the way it handled and it was so much quieter then the Grand Caravan I was presently driving. So the next day I was the owner of a Odyssey sport. I have driven this about 7000 in the 5 1/2 months I have owned it and so far I am very happy with it. It handles great and is very comfortable and quiet. With being the first Honda I have owned It did take a little getting use to the controls because every manufacturer does some things a little different. I was careful of the color I picked because my neighbors on each side of me both have a Honda Odyssey so I had to pick a color in between. The only complaint I have about the Odyssey so far is the cruise control and not keeping a consistent speed. Yes is will slow down if I get close to a vehicle in front of me. That is not what I am talking about. If I set the cruise for 70 It will be anywhere between 68 and 72 and there will not be a car in sight. It will not hold a steady speed where it is set. It can go from 68 to 72 in a very short time. This is the first time I have ever had this problem. In the past if I had the cruise set it might slow down 1 mph if I was going up a hill. This slow downs and speeds up going up or down a hill or even on flat land. A minor problem but does get very frustrating at times. Especially if I am in the right lane and someone is passing me and all of a sudden it starts to speed up. There was also one time when I was driving along and all of a sudden it quickly slowed down from 65 to 55 for no reason in a couple of seconds. I was happy no one was right behind me. Other then that It has been a great vehicle and I would highly recommend it. I just wish the center seats would fold down into the floor like the 3rd row. But for the most part it has all the room need.

Truly Elite!

2022 Honda Odyssey Elite 4dr Minivan (3.5L 6cyl 10A)

After selling our beloved Toyota Sienna this spring, we purchased a 2022 Odyssey Elite in June and have already taken it on a week+ road trip from Minneapolis to NYC, CT and Cape Cod, followed by a shorter journey to the North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota. It is currently sitting at just under 5K miles, and we have loved every minute of owning this Odyssey. We met or exceeded the estimated highway MPG on both of our trips, and we have never driven in such a quiet vehicle. Both road noise and other ambient noise are effectively mitigated. We have found the Odyssey to be supremely comfortable, fast, smooth and quiet, and we have enjoyed all of the nooks and crannies for storage. Plenty of room even with our dog and kennel along. All-in-all: A truly elite road trip vehicle. (Also, top safety ratings were a driving factor in our decision to purchase, but glad we waited some of the refinements made in the 2021/22 models.)

I keep comparing this to my 10 year old mini van

I traded in my 10 year old grand caravan for a new 2022 Honda Odyssey. Maybe I expected too much but I miss my old van! The heat and air does not work half as well as my old van! I can not even tell that the seats are heated. It gets slightly warm but that is it. I like to remote start the vehicle to get it warmed up in the winter and I run it two cycles (20 minutes) and it is still cold when I get it. Yes, we have the heat settings full blast on high. What is going on. My old mini would be almost too hot on one cycle. The air and heat are LOUD when turned up high. Much louder than my old mini. Another thing that is really annoying is the remote start. Most vehicles allow remote from the app, however Honda makes you pay a yearly fee!!! That right there is enough for me to never buy another Honda. The push button controls did not fully engage in drive and it sounded like the car was going to explode, I quickly pulled over to restart the car and hope that it would be in the right gear. I have less than 5000 miles on this vehicle and I am ready to trade it in:(
