1st Honda automobile ever!,traded in my 03 Toyota Sienna CE for a 2007 Odyssey EX-Leather with DVD and we're really satisfied with it.I was just thinking of buying the one with leather seats without dvd and I'm glad I listened to my wife to get the one with rear entertainment.I have two boys that always asked, "ARE WE THERE YET?,so now wherever we go ,we just play cartoon movies and they're just quiet back there. If you have kids, get the one with dvd,it really help.I heard lot of comments about road noise on this van and you know what,I don't know a car out there that you can't hear any road noise, come on! you're on the road,If you don't want to hear any road noise, then don't drive it.

Chiming in on transmission problems!

Like many other owners we too are having transmission issues. We just had to the dealer for the transmission "judder" fix, but guess what? It's worse than it was before! Vehicle shakes at 25 MPH while transmission hunts for a gear, especially on hills. There is also an intermittent shake at highway speeds (70 MPH) that I no longer believe has anything to do with tires or alignment, but with the drivetrain itself. Like others when entering/exiting ECO mode there is too much noise from the transmission. The VCM system does not seem to improve gas mileage so I say Honda should eliminate it. We've had 7 Hondas now and this is the first and only Odyssey we will own.

Clunky transmission

Good acceleration, steering, and suspension for a minivan. Minor creaking and body flex noise when starting from a stop. Also, when stopping, transmission is clunky and feels like it is "pushing" you forward. Overall, by far the best reliable performance for the money. Was surprised about the clunky transmission for a Honda. Highway mileage so far 24.5 (at 75-80 mph)-not bad for a 5200lb. vehicle (loaded) with a V-6. Rear DVD is worth its weight in gold for kids. Radio signal reception is poor. More road noise than I expected.

2007 Honda Odyssey - Torque Converter

At 30K miles, had an issue with a slight shudder at 40 mph (when shifting from 4th to 5th gear). Took it to dealership and they tried engine mounts but that was not the fix. Once the torque converter was replaced, it shifts much smoother. Now at 36K the battery died. No warning. Not sure if something is draining it (unseen door or rear compartment light). Anyway seems too early to have battery problems.

This is my first Honda and I am sold. We had a Town and Country for 4 years and the rattles, wind noise, and drafty interior drove me nuts. I bought the Odyssey and left 2 days later for a 2000 mile trip. Not only was it quiet (no need to turn up the radio) but in the dead of winter there were no drafts. What I can't figure out is why all the vans are not made this well. The gas mileage has not quite been as advertised but then most vehicles are not. I wish the doors would unlock when I push the remote to open the sliding doors (my Chrysler did) and I wish I could lock the doors while the sliders are closing (you have to wait until the doors close). Great vehicle, buy it.
