LOVE IT
@172,000 Didn't drive it a lot this past year. Nothing wrong, just love the car and gave it to my daughter to learn on. This will be the 3rd new driver for the old girl. hahaha. It'll be a sad day when we have to part ways. I wish Honda still made this car. What a great, dependable car! @ 165,000 miles I hope they start making them, again. My Fit sure has changed my mind from the beginning. I have the Fit, a Sienna xle, and a Camry. Hands down, the Fit is my favorite - I'll never by another Toyota - they're too noisy and too expensive to maintain. The Fit is easy maintain and easy to drive, although I still don't like it as a highway car. When I first bought this car I took it back to the dealer because I thought the steering had a flaw. It was just the wind. It's very light and really gets pushed around on the road. We took it from Ohio to Virginia this summer and what a terrible trip. It's just not built to drive over 55. Hate the van-like mirrors in the front - they just cause a blind spot. Also, there is a terrible smell in the ventilation system which is common with these Fits. Really I would not buy this car again. The storage is great and MPG is better than advertised. I haven't had any mechanical issues. We bought it for my wife to learn to drive. I wouldn't suggest this as a first car, especially with the blindspot created by the van-like mirrors and the horribly uncomfortable headrests. Update at 72,000. I went from Hankooks to General Altimax tires and the handling and ride are much better. Nothing really wrong with the car. I'd say it's a very good city car. I don't much care for having to change the tranny fluid every 30,000. Road noise is a little aggravating, but it's a cheap ride with good gas mileage. Update at 90,000 I really would not buy this car again. Those small windows in the front are hazardous. Ii's just such a huge blindspot. Also, It's just too light and small for the highways. And the headlights on low beam are too low, but fine on high beam. Road noise is also aggravating. If it weren't for those small windows in front, I'd say it's a very good city car. The gas mileage is very good. Storage is good. Front seats have a lot more room then you would expect for a car that size. It has no power. It will seat 5, but it's a real struggle, and you can't use the AC with more than 2 people in the car. There just isn't enough power. I'm looking at new brakes again, but other than that - no mechanical issues. TERRIBLE paint quality. I think they put on about one coat. 97, 000 Just put brakes and rotors on. I took the headrests off - better vision and much more comfortable. I'm impressed at how this thing goes through the snow. It's been doing what I bought it for. - cheap, reliable transportation. I still don't like the smell in the defrost, the mirrors, or the headrests. Also the arm rest on the door wore out. But, knock-on-wood, I haven't had any dependability issues, aside from not being a highway car. 110,000 miles. I like the car more and more. It's almost 5 years old. I just had the valves adjusted and the throttle cleaned which made it run better. That hesitation when you stop and go is a lot less, and it seems to have a little more power. I put another set of tires on - General Altimax 75,000. I doubt the tires will last more than about 30,000, but I expect it now. I had to replace a stabilizer bar bearing for about $30, and of course I change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles. I've learned the smell from the defrost can be reduced by turning on the defrost and heat, the last couple miles of a trip, to help dry out condensation. I've taken out the head rests in the front and back for better visibility, and comfort, especially in the back. We live in NE Ohio where there is a lot of snow, and even in the summer, the road conditions are horrendous - I swear, it would probably be less wear on the car if I drove through people's yards. This little Fit holds up well, I'm surprised, and happy. I still won't take it on another long trip, but it's a great town car, and given the same situations, I'd probably buy it again. See you for an update next year! 4-12-19 @ 118,000 Still running strong. Tires look good. A good car for the money, and more comfortable without the headrests. Still not a highway car. 4-12-2020 Just put rear shocks @ almost 140,000 miles. Also, had a problem last Spring with a hard braking when it was cold. Fixed that with a new brake booster check valve, I'd buy the car again. It's been dependable and cheap to operate. The vanlike mirrors are something you have to get used to. I took out the headrests for more comfort, but this has a lot more room than you'd expect. My wife loves the car, so do my son and daughter, so I expect it will be their around town car. It's help-up well and still looks good, even in NE Ohio weather. It has grown on me.

Sold after 13000 miles
Edmunds asked for a follow up review. I sold this car in February of 2014. Lots of good to say about this car, great handling, lots of room inside, very comfortable seats and driving position, easy to maintain, very reliable. Now for the reason I sold it, the power is marginal, really have to stand on the gas and stay on it. Kinda sketchy on the highway, nervous at speeds above 70mph. Used it one winter to go skiing, and with studded tires, it went better in the snow than 99% of the cars and SUV's minus the ones with actual snow tires. Overall was a fun car, just needed more power for everyday driving.

Great Little Car
I have had my Fit Sport 5MT for over 3 months and I am very pleased with the car. I purchased it to take over daily driver duties from my BMW 330Ci. I wanted a car that is fun to drive, inexpensive to operate, and high on practicality, and so far the Fit delivers on all counts. The cargo area is very capacious, and the Fit was able to carry 4 new boxed 16" aftermarket wheels behind the back seats. I am also able to fit my road bike in the back using a fork-mount rack. I only need to fold one seat and I do not need to drop the seat on my bike to load it back there (I am 5'10" and ride a 56cm frame). Seating in the back is fine with ample head and leg room considering the size of the car.
Not perfect, but great value
I looked at almost all of the competing vehicles and went with the Fit since it fit my needs best. For the price, it's hard to beat considering the legendary reliability of Honda cars. The closest compition is (IMHO) the Scion xD and Hyundai Accent.
Great Car
Overall this is a great car. There are a few quirks with it, and the technology leaves something to be desired, but for the price you can't beat it. There's a USB input jack as well as an auxiliary jack. There is so much room in this car! When the back seats are folded down I could sleep in the back of this car. There are some strange blind spots which definitely take some getting used to. There are small windows on the side of the dash to help with this, but don't do as much as you would expect.
Nothing impressive, but it gets the job done.
I bought this vehicle for the cargo space and for its bare bones nature. I bought a Honda for their "legendary" quality in the small car market. Maintenance for this vehicle has only entailed routine oil changes and 1 set of tires at this point, but this vehicle is barely broken in at 29,000 miles. Should be noted, another reviewer commented on having to replace the A/C in their Fit before 30,000 miles. I am currently replacing my A/C compressor in my '11 Civic with 59,000. This could become a theme with Honda as this is far to early to be replacing these parts. My main problem with this vehicle is fuel economy. I expect 35 - 43 mpg in a small vehicle like this. When SUV's are starting to get over 30 mpg, a small vehicle like this should be pushing 40 mpg, but it doesn't. I use only ethanol free fuel, as there is a slightly better bump in fuel economy, but I still won't get better then 34 to 36 mpg on my daily commute (mostly highway at 60 MPH). I should note that this is while driving like a grandpa and utilizing as much drafting and coasting as possible. On long drives (upwards of 2 hrs) I have obtained 42.1 mpg while traveling between 55 and 60. This car will drink fuel at speeds exceeding 65 mph. MPG drops drastically during the winter, I'm sure it is due to the quality of fuel and the cold temps in NY, but I tend to average 29 to 32 mpg. Acceleration is just plain poor. Don't expect to pass a slower vehicle on a 1 lane road at 55 mph, unless, of course, you have a mile to do it. I haven't driven the newer 130 hp Fit (2016), but I have to imagine that the additional 13hp makes a huge difference. HONDA PAINT SUCKS!! I have a 2011 Civic and 2013 Fit. The civic is color blk and the front of it looks sand blasted. The Fit (red) has stood up better, but I have made it my mission to protect it. I will leave large gaps between me and the car in front. Still, with these vehicles, the paint chips every time a small object hits it. I have read countless reviews where people complain about this. BEWARE: HONDA PAINT Greatest feature(s) is the average fuel economy display. I still calculate manually with each fill up, but it is nice to have an idea of how your doing. It has caused me to drive much slower in a continuing effort to beat my "high score". I also like the windows as you have almost zero blind spots. I call this vehicle the fish bowl because you have more window than car. Nothing impressive about this vehicle. I had the arm rest installed in mine and switched out all the lights, except headlights, for cree LED lights solely because the out dated incandescent draws too much power and lacks the brightness. The heater during the winter will take 10 minutes to warm up, so I am usually close to reaching my destination before I have substantial heat. I installed a trailer hitch on mine and pull a small 4' x 8' trailer from time to time to the hardware store. This makes the vehicle incredibly more useful. Some reviewers have commented about sway while operating in windy conditions. This vehicle will travel wherever the wind blows. It is a constant fight to keep it straight, which should be obvious due to the bubble design and light weight. Snow handling is great. I drive in NY state's snow belt and I'm often fighting icy/snowy roads. The stock, narrow, wheel rims give you excellent traction. I haven't needed snow tires as an all season has worked just fine up to this point. One down side is your road clearance. I often bottom out on snowy roads and always risk the possibility of getting stuck. Car seats are difficulty to get in the vehicle and deal with, but this tends to be the case with all compacts and sub compact cars.

This is Honda failed crash test ratings
Long time Honda fan, owning an Accord and two Fits. (Previously drove VW's and BMW's.) Currently own a 2013 Fit which I purchased new, five years ago. My first Fit (2010) was totaled by a hit and run driver in Stonerville-Hypoxic-idiotic Denver, CO. Airbag deployed and I was left with only whiplash, thanks to Honda's safety measures. Then, I moved to Las Vegas with my 2013 Fit and my A/C went out/replaced and battery replaced twice. I assumed over the brutal desert temperatures. After reading others reviews, I suspect it's cheap/faulty Honda. The new A/C unit feels like it's about to fritz again after only two years! Overall it's a reliable, go-kart, putt putt car with a lawn mower engine. Cheap to maintain. You can load unbelievable amounts of cargo into it. I've camped in it. Traction on this model performs excellent on ice and snow. However, little things are starting to add up especially after a recent road trip to California. - Road noise is awful, - 117 hp is dangerously under powered to try and pass cars - I had the petal to the floor and couldn't pass. - The car is flimsy and unstable feeling at high speeds on the highway - feels like any wind will blow you into the next lane, - uncomfortable seats for myself and passengers, - mediocre gas mileage 20-33mpgs. When this car was new it gave me 35-44mpg highway. I've tried many things to restore this mileage to no avail. - cheap paint job, - TERRIBLE CHEAP INTERIOR THAT I CAN NEVER KEEP CLEAN! Oh Honda, why would you put cloth seats with little HOLES in them to grab every bit of lint, hair and garbage?! My interior looks filthy after one car load of passengers! - My satellite radio had to be mounted underneath the CD player, closing off a cup holder slot. After researching other vehicles and seeing how car technology has improved, I don't love my Fit anymore. I think there are better vehicles out there offering better gas mileage and a more comfortable ride.

'13 Fit base 5MT
'13 Fit base 5MT. So far, 10 months, 10,000 miles, no problems. Despite display indicating 50% oil life left at 5K miles, oil was changed @ 5K mi. Oil changed at 10K mi. (again display indicating 50% oil life remaining) with full synthetic. Engine seems to run better on full synthetic. Air conditioner lost refrigerant @ 26,000 miles--mystery as nothing found wrong with the AC unit itself. Concerned that after 10K mi. there has been no dash display for maintenance (wrench symbol). As there are no mileage recommendations for maintenance in the owner's manual, you are wholly dependent on the car computer for maintenance scheduling. Wondering if computer is working properly. Can't believe no service is required after 10K miles. Very satisfied and happy with the car. 3 years in, its still running perfectly, Original Dunlop tires wore unevenly, replaced @ 28K mi, Bridgestone Eco___ significantly quieter riding and a great improvement, Recall for Takata airbag replaced after 2 month wait, Dealer provided free loaner/rental during wait, Note: those with rental/loaners are prioritized to the top of the waiting list. At 39,000 on the odometer the car is getting 1-2 mpg less mileage on a gallon of gas. Lifetime mpg is still slightly over 31, which is 2 mpg OVER the EPA estimate. Engine feels as if it's finally "loosening" as in it finally feels "broken in", Engine feels freer revving since it's last servicing. Similarly, the shifter feels a bit looser and not as tight as when new, although it still functions perfectly, When asked, the car cruises effortlessly @ 75-85 mph. Further note: dealer installed side window visors have NOT reduced wind noise with the windows open--a disappointment. At nearly four years and 40K miles in, the car is still worth MORE than the blue book value in my opinion. The only negative to the car is that it performed poorly on the IIHS small offset frontal crash test. A test that was initiated in 2013-2014, The 2013 Fit was designed and in production over 4 years PRIOR to the creation of this new crash test. Hard to design for something not yet devised or invented. Much to the credit of Honda, the 3rd generation Fit, introduced as a 2015 model mid year 2014, they recalled the first 14,000 units sold and refit them with newly designed front bumpers that passed the new "small offset frontal crash test". Subsequent units were all outfitted with the redesigned bumpers. Kudos to Honda who was willing to redesign "on the fly" as it were. Many other manufacturers rather than redesign non conforming models, simply waited until the current non conforming model ran its course and didn't redesign until the next iteration or update of the non conforming model. Other information on the Honda Fit 3rd generation 2015-present. Honda's new manufacturing plant in Mexico was designed to fabricate the 3rd generation Fit and the new compact CUV the HR-V which is based ton the Fit chassis. Initial units had a lot of uncharacteristic (for Honda) quality control problems. In addition, cars were being stripped of parts in transit to the United States. More recently, it has been my observation that the new 3rd generation Fits have been made in Japan, although the HR-V is still being produced in Mexico. I firmly believe the quality control of cars from Japan exceed those made in Mexico, based on my own personal experience. September '17: a bit confused on the KBB (Kelly Blue Book) value of the car today. There appears to be a wide variance, confusing. It's my general conclusion that the value of the car (to me) is far more than the KBB value. This makes it hard to justify to trade it in on a new vehicle. Most magazine evaluations conclude that the 2nd generation Fits (2008-2013) deliver a more responsive and sportier ride (driving dynamics) than the current (2014-2017) updated version. Prior to the current version (>2014) previous Fits were on Car and Driver Magazine's 10 best list 7 years in a row (2007-2013). The current version has never been included on this list. It's my opinion that a low mileage Fit may be the best used car value going. Currently approaching 50k mi and it's still running perfectly. Tough deciding if it’s worth trading in on a new vehicle or just keeping it because it’s such a practical and utilitarian vehicle. Despite it’s power limitations it is and always has been a very responsive vehicle. I’ve always thought of my former 1970’s bmw 2002 as a superior car, but the 2013 fit outperforms it in most all respects-such is progress in engineering. I’ll be shopping for a bonafide hot hatch but most likely keep the fit as a utility vehicle.

It really is the best car in the world.
This car can do it all and last forever. My Sport model comes with the rear spoiler, fog lights, sporty front slip, exhaust tip, and side skirts, cruise control, paddle shifters, and 16" alloy wheels. It is a great package for a great price. The car really does "Fit" everything. I have used it for plenty of long road trips. It is made for road trips with its magic seats, several storage compartments, built in USB cable, two AC power outlets, and NINE cup holders.
Not impressed
We bought this car because of the advertised gas mileage and we wanted a reliable family vehicle. We chose Honda because they are a reliable company and Honda resale value holds up really well. Overall the car is a great point A to point B car. We bought our car brand new with 15 miles on it. It drives smooth and has a surprising get up and go. It's also idles incredibly quiet. When I first got the car the only way I knew it was on, was by looking at the ignition! The most I've ever spent on a full tank of gas has been $25. It's usually only about $10 for 3/4 tank. My husband is a mechanic and does the oil changes at his shop so I'm not sure exactly how expensive maintenance fees are. We have not had to make any mechanical repairs at all. The car has 30k miles on it and it still runs really well. However there are some major flaws in the design. Just 1 year after our purchase we realized there were chips all over the hood and front side of the paint. So we repainted it. But again there are more chinks. It doesn't matter how closely I follow someone, the paint is just poor quality. Also, you can't hit even the smallest pothole or you will have to replace a rim. My rims are dented all the way around. The stock tires were so poor that they only lasted 6 months before being replaced. And even our replacement tires are horrible on any form of precipitation including rain. I also have a young son so I have a car seat in the backseat. I have to move the front passenger seat all the way up to allow him in and out of the car. So it makes having extra passengers almost impossible because whoever sits up front has to have an up close and personal relationship with the dash board. Also, the backseat has headrests that fold all the way down over the seat. It's incredibly uncomfortable for anyone sitting in the back seat without pulling it all the way up. And if they leave the headrest up it causes a major blind spot for the driver out of the back window. In the winter don't even try to use just the heat setting. Your windows will fog in 2 minutes. You have to use the defrost setting only for cold weather. Which is fine except when you're behind a stinky truck or you want to recycle your air instead of inhaling fumes. The cup holders up front are impossible if you have a cup bigger than a 12 oz. You have to pull your cup carefully out at an angle to avoid crushing or spilling your drink. The option of using your ipod through the second glove box is wonderful but if you have more than 100 artists on your ipod you're going to spend 10 min scrolling through artists until you find the one you want. It doesn't allow for playing by genre and it doesn't read all of your playlists. Even the max volume is comparatively low. We also had to replace our wiper blades within the first year because they were so poor. Overall this is a good car. But I don't recommend it as a family car. This is perfect for someone to drive to and from work only. It's great for long distance drives. Maintenance oil changes don't happen as frequently as they do with other cars. Gas cost is incredibly low. But if you're looking for comfort look elsewhere.

Fantastic so far!
I bought this car in August. I am 6'4" and about 260 lbs, and I have more than enough room in the car itself. There is even room behind me for a normal-sized, full-grown adult. There is so much space inside the car, I don't have any trouble putting everything I need for weeks. It has great acceleration, mainly because it is so small, and it is fantastic to drive. In the snow, it has been handling fantastically.

Great little car, but expense ridiculous repairs
We have two Honda Fits. The design is really great, as is the initial price. But...and it is a big BUT...recently both of the cars a/c completely stopped working. The a/c needs to be fixed, without it the windows will regularly fog, and even if it is cold outside the blower only blows very hot air. The cars are no longer under warranty, are few years old, and have been cared for well. The cost of fixing the a/c - $950! I am not the first. This is a serious flaw. Unlike many cars, if you get a hot sunny day, you HAVE to run the a/c or the car will be unbearable so much so that it is hard to breathe because the very large dashboard gets so very incredibly hot. Another problem area is these cars is the trunk are. They seem to have a troublesome trunk latch. Both cars latches have completely stopped working rendering the hatchback useless unless we fix it for lots of money. And whatever you do, don't apply pressure while closing the back. Both cars look like they have been in accidents for merely closing the hatchback with a little force. The other issue I am having in my other Fit is my dashboard is no longer level. What did the service staff tell me? It would take hours to fix and would be fairly expensive. If it is not creating a problem with the car the warranty is irrelevant for this issue as it is just cosmetic. There are other great small cars. Until Honda changes the a/c design, I advise people to buy a different small car. I will not buy a Fit again. If you are looking for economy with cargo area check out the Kia Soul. We absolutely love everything about ours.

Bang for the buck
When looking for a roomy, efficient, and compact vehicle a year ago, I ended up buying a Patriot over the Fit due to power/space/SUV benefits. Well, I ended up trading the Jeep in to gain MPG benefits and to save a few bucks on payments. I couldn't be happier! I have wanted a manual again since my first vehicle some years ago. Very glad I switched back to a 5spd. MPG is much better, and on par with my old Corolla. I was concerned about highway performance due to the lack of a 6th gear, and it being such a small car, but highway tracking and noise levels are great for the class. Build quality is great, the interior is functional, and exterior styling is nice with the Sport trim. Great value!
3rd Honda Fit (2009, 2013, 2013)
Just purchased my 3rd Honda Fit Sport, another 2013 purchased used with 64K miles on it. This after my beloved 2013 Fit Sport met an untimely end after hitting a deer going 60mph. I walked away without a scratch, air bag did not deploy and cabin integrity was not compromised - drove the car 3 miles after collision but insurance declared it totaled. My first Honda fit Sport was an automatic, which I gave to my daughter with 110K miles on it. She's now at 147K, Honda of Malibu just replaced the water pump as the general feeling was it was overdue - the 2009 never needed more than oil and gas, tires and brakes lasted almost 70K. For the 2013s, I decided to buy used 5spd manual transmission cars. The Fit Sport with a 5 spd is a totally different car. While you can "paddle shift" the automatic Fit, it is not quite the same. With a 5 spd the little Fit engine can be perfectly matched and never stops to put a smile on my face. I really enjoy my Fits and keep going back as for the money, they are an absolutely brilliant design - they make great use of space, are pretty much bullet proof, fun to drive and get great gas mileage. For me it has been the perfect commuter car - 90 miles / day. I did not think twice about buying the 2013s used as I knew how good the 2009 was and the 2013 were even better. I could have bought the 2015 but I'm not sold on the new exterior shape. My perfect Fit - would be if Honda made an "Si" version - with stronger brakes (the OEMs have longish stopping distance), slightly more power and seats with lumbar adjustment. Other than that - if you are looking for something fun to drive, that gets great gas mileage, has amazing room (Honda's Magic Seat is brilliant) and is absolutely reliable - the Fit is perfect. Sure there are cars with more, power, more refinement, more comfort but few are as reliable and give as much value for the money spent. In each case for the 2013s, I installed a cold air intake and I have a cat back performance exhaust on order - I'll build my on "SI" and enjoy every mile driving it. Update my 2013 now has 86,000 miles on it - the cat back sport exhaust is installed, love the deeper sound and burbles when downshifting. Still on the original brakes an clutch - beyond regular fluid changes and a battery the car has needed nothing. My daughter's 2009 has 160K on it and is still a reliable daily driver. I rescued a 1 year old great pyrenees dog (96 lbs) - she loves the fit because with the magic seat up she has plenty of room to lie down or stand on longer trips. the only thing I would fix on the older fits is the latch mechanism of the rear hatch which tends to corrode over time when exposed to northeast road salt - I just keep it well oiled and clean, Update Dec. 2020 now with 102,000 miles - still on my first set of brakes, waiting on telltale sound that the front brake pads are done. Also time for new spark plugs and maybe 2nd set of new tires. Other than that my fit has needed nothing beyond gas, tire rotations and regular oil changes (5k miles). Will keep buying the Fit - great little car that never lets us down! Update (June 2022-123,000) - My Fit continues to run well - my only unusual service was a check engine light that came on and off repeatedly after an episode where I managed to hit the engine redline limit / cutoff. The fault code suggested an issue with the Mass Air Flow sensor - as this is a simple plug in - I purchased a replacement unit online for $34 delivered - problem solved. The little fit continues to run without issue regularly returning 32mpg even when pushed hard driving from Jersey to Delaware on the Turnpike at “generous” speed. I plan to drive it until the wheels fall off. My original 2009 Honda Fit sport (automatic) that my daughter gave back to me upon moving to NYC has 167,000 miles and still serves as a daily commuting car for my wife while she parks her more gas consuming Pilot. At this point my biggest concern when to start looking for another 5spd lower mileage fit and the small rust bubble that has appeared at the edge of my left rear fender well. A real shame Honda stopped making the Fit - I will not be buying and SUV or and automatic. Brief update - my 2013 Honda Fit Sport now has 165,470 miles on it - to my disbelief I’m still on my first clutch and have just replaced spark plugs and coils. I replaced the coils simply because they failed on my 2009 Honda Fit Sport at 160,000 so this to just avoid getting stranded. Also on the list of needed maintenance - the drive belt began squeaking briefly at start up several weeks ago - so I’m having the belt, belt tensioner pulley and water pump replaced just as a precaution. Beyond oil and filter changes when the internal monitor hits ~ 50-40%. = 5-7k miles the car just seems to need a new battery every 3 years. Still love the car will probably drive it until it finally needs a new clutch (I’m hoping to hit 200k miles before that happens). I gave the 2009 Honda Fit Sport to my son who sold it to his girlfriend still running strong with 189,000 miles on it. I will start to look for another lower mileage Honda fit sport with a 5 spd manual either a 2013 or perhaps something slightly newer as the car is difficult to beat and I have not found a new car I like more that will prove as reliable and practical. Too bad Honda stopped making this great little car!

Great little car
We love our little fit. Feels and drives like a Honda. Takes off and stops quick. With both backseats laid flat, plenty of room in the back. Our golden retriever does laps in the back. we test drove the Fiesta and the Fit was so much more car for the money.
Best all in one car.
This is my divorce-mobile coming out of a Honda Ridgeline. I was looking for getting the most for the least and low expenses over the life of the car. This checked all the boxes. And I got more: -Practicality ... 57 cubic feet storage with seats down. How?! Because the floor is amazingly low and the genius fold down rear seat design. -Versatility ... in “tall mode” ... back seats folded up like old movie theater seats, my two 55 pound dogs can be driven around town. -Fun ... the manual transmission in the 2nd generation (2007 to 2014) gets the little 118 hp engine to perform ... suspension does ok for a “tall car”. However the price you pay for sporty is rough ride on bumps. -Simple, clear analog controls with buttons and dials. No touch screen non-sense. I bought a $60 after market blue tooth dealie that works fine. -Shortcomings ... it can beat me up on a long trip (suspension ain’t soft) ... AC is good in town but take it on a hot sunny long road trip and it doesn’t keep me cool enough. -Closest thing to it: VW Golf. I did not get it because I needed to be careful with expenses and they are known to ding you with repairs and no “magic seats”. However it kills the Fit as far as ride/suspension goes and has better A/C. Today (vs 2013 when I got my car new) there is a Hyundai Elantra hatchback GT Sport ... as a reliable/more comfortable alternative ... but it costs $5k more and gets mediocre mileage. -Overall: This was the right choice for me and no regrets. I still get happy when I hop in ... maybe because I sunk $1000 in for aftermarket leather seats!
Best small car you can buy.
1) High quality. 2) Comfortable ride. 3) Fun to drive. 4) Practical. 5) Good gas mileage. 6) Excelent road feel.
The Fit fits
I've owned my Honda Fit Sport for a month, and am a big fan of it. The car is very practical - it can hold a lot of stuff in a small package. But it's also really fun to drive, with quick, nicely weighted steering, a firm but well composed chassis, and a very good manual transmission with easy, precise feeling throws and an easy-to-learn clutch. It functions excellently as a city car, but it also shines on secondary roads heading out to the country. The engine is small and at super-highway speeds, the car is underpowered and a bit noisy, but if you do the bulk of your driving below 70 mph, it's a wonderful, simple, and fun solution to a lot of transportation needs. Update: after eight months, the 2013 Fit Sport continues to impress. It's fun to drive on a daily basis. It gets great highway mileage (over 40mpg according to onboard computer) and decent city mileage (high 20's in very urban stop-and-go traffic).

Great car
Love this car so far. Drives well. Fun to drive. Comfortable and spacious on the inside. Fits into parking spaces easily. Great gas mileage
I wanted to like this car
I did extensive research on the Honda Fit and test drove the 2016, 2015 and 2013 models before purchasing a 2013 Honda Fit Sport. At 5'11.5, I knew a small car didn't appear to fit my frame, but as a long time driver of other subcompact cars I wasn't worried. After 3 weeks of driving, I developed moderate back pain. It doesn't help that the car handles poorly and gets blown around by the wind. I seriously regret buying this car and am planning to loss several thousand dollars to sale my car and get another car. The gas mileage is good, but my health and comfort is not worth.

Honda replaced fiat
13000 klm so far, so good. Gas mileage is the same as the fiat 500 I traded and uses regular gas and has lots more room. Smooth ride and good handling.
My Labrador Retriever owned this car
Honda airbag defect issue not resolved by Honda in a reasonable timeframe. Received letter stating not to drive the car due to the airbag defect. Never offered a rental car - still no airbag replacement available after waiting more than 6 months. Tried to work with the dealer to get it fixed or trade for a different car - I pay cash for my cars. They did offer me list price on a new Rav4 and 9K for my Fit on a trade in. Sold the car at a loss just to get rid of it.

Honda Fit Sport the only car for me
This car is amazing and I love it.
2013 Honda Fit Sport Red
April 2020 Car slowed down since I bought it. Leaking a lot of water from the muffler. The car oil indicator goes to 0% at 2,000 miles and I barely drive it. Should be every 10,000 miles not less than 2,200 miles. Paint faded.

Traded it for bigger vehicle
Was way too small for us so I dumped it and bought a van. Not saying that it wasn’t roomy for its size. It was a manual transmission car like I prefer. I’m glad it’s gone because illnesses has made it difficult to drive a stick anyway. Got rid of it so no more review updates for me

glad to own one
bought this car earlier this month. finding city mileage to less than listed, surprised that road noise is louder than expected (though I knew it wouldn't be stellar). on the other hand, i like the storage space, front seats are comfortable, it handled the surprise snow we had in town like a champ (where other folks were failing, we stayed on the road). the visibility is good and it is a fun car to drive.

Cheap, quick and certainly not dead!
This car is all about function over form, it looks like a guppy, albeit a cute one, and the cockpit is spaceship like, but the materials are more functional than luxurious. It is definitely not a powerhouse but it is Peppy in stop and go traffic. update: as time goes by this ages well, and has been very reliable except for the battery and the headlight coating, but the lack of active safety equipment and the noisy harsh ride become a little unnerving after getting used to newer cars. all in all...still a great purchase.

Road noise off the charts !
Great space for passengers and cargo. However, if you are someone who doesn't play.misic whole driving you will be very annoyed by the load roar of the road noise at speeds above 35-40.

NOT fun to drive
I read lots of reviews saying it's fun to drive. Reality check: It's not. Mine just lagged off the line with the manual tranny. I wanted to have spirited acceleration, but this 1.5 L engine has no power at low revs: thats how they say it has great gas mileage: no power means low gas consumption You need to rev the engine to get power. It has spongy suspension and leans heavily in turns. It has no tech features. No bluetooth, no phone connection other that usb for charging. It does have good cargo room, though. Big bonus. I got rid of it after three years because other competitors have more options. I just bought a Chevy Spark EV for a change. I didn't like the way the dealer said that 2013 was such a good design, they decided not to make any changes for 2014. I didn't like the way the dealer handled my purchase.

My last Honda product
There is a difference between a cheap car and an inexpensive car. This Honda is just plain cheap! And what is worse, the Honda service groups at the dealer have a take no prisoner approach to dealing with the customers. You sell these cheap cars and then treat the customers like they are wealthy people and money is of no concern. The dealer tried to do things like $100.00 to change a cabin air filter (I found one on the internet for $9.80 and it was easy to change)... and I can give a dozen other examples. The air conditioner has a design flaw with the condenser being easily damaged, and the list goes on and on.
Getting so much from a compact car!
Clean, comfortable and cute! Very huge cargo capacity! Well finished interior! Sunny disposition! SOLD, MARCH 2017

Best car on the planet for the money!....
I've only had one issue with this car (besides the cheapo stock tires, which are noisy, and needing replacement @20,000 miles). That ONE ISSUE is, the car will decide to UNLOCK itself HOURS after I have locked it. Probably the idiot EPROM in the key....WHY does EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE COMPUTERIZED NOW? I will test and see if manually locking the car with the key makes any dif. And the accelerating is poor, but you already knew that. Phenomenal in city mileage-an honest 36-37mpg around town. The Taketa airbag was replaced efficiently by the dealer....let us HOPE they can do the same with the locking issue!

A very good value
Acceleration isn't all that great, but that's not what the Fit is about. It tends to be a bit noisy even with the manual transmission, but keeping down the RPM's and the highway speeds helps. Keep the wheels and tires rotated and balanced, and the car will have a very stable feel at highway speeds. Seats are good. Visibility is good. Heater and A/C work well, although the A/C needed repair at 68000 miles. The cargo space is very good for such a small car. Reliability and MPG are very good. Overall MPG for 2021 thus far has been 36.8. The car has needed only scheduled maintenance so far, except for the A/C repair. Honda has been very good about recall notices for the airbags. There have been three on this car, and the dealer installed replacements in about an hour each time. On the third recall, relating to the car's drive train, the dealer only did an inspection and did not recommend any recall-related repairs. For 2021, I drove only about 8300 miles, in part because of the pandemic. But the car got 36.7 MPG for all driving, and the car needed only scheduled maintenance. Further, according to the Edmunds Web site, the value of the car went up, a completely unexpected development. Since August 2022, I have put considerably fewer miles on the car, so the MPG has dropped to about 33-34, which is still a respectable level. One of the rear shock absorbers developed a leak and had to be replaced at about 97000 miles. Again, beyond that, the car has needed only scheduled maintenance, even though it's now approaching 101,000 miles. As of July 2024, the car has reached 104,000 miles and continues to run reliably. Overall MPG for 2024 is 33.4. I'm driving fewer miles than in previous years, and the recent high temps have meant a certain amount of idling with the air conditioning running, so the MPG is still respectable.

Wagon space with good mileage
This is a good car for anyone wanting a wagon-type car with better-than-wagon mpg. This is my commute car, so it does a good job of handling both freeway and city streets quite well. I also did test drives on the Kia Rio5, the Kia Soul, the Ford Fiesta, the Hyundai Accent, and the Nissan Cube, but the Honda Fit was a better overall experience.
Honda Fit Fits the Bill for Cargo Space and MPG
We had a Civic Hybrid, but needed a car with more cargo space. The prospect of giving up the fuel efficiency of the hybrid was painful, but the sacrifice was ultimately marginal and we got the cargo space we needed in our 2013 Honda Fit LX. Before we even started shopping, we asked Fit owners--both strangers and friends!--what they thought of their cars and it was unanimous: people loved their Honda Fits regardless of the specific year or model. And now, we are those people. We needed the cargo space to haul music equipment (think bulky and heavy) and the tiny Fit handles it all--a large Marshall cabinet, tubed head, three guitars, and an endless stream of small items along with a passenger. And, even though we initially weren't sold on the Fit's stubby appearance, it has been invaluable in finding street parking in the city. We test drove a 2016 model with 43K miles on it, but our older model had a smoother ride and, it turns out, the actual MPG on our 2013 with our driving is close enough to our hybrid's (39 MPG) that I can let go of my guilt for the most part. The only downside I can think of is that our model doesn't include anything fancy--there's only one dome light and there's no bluetooth--but it has everything we need.

Reliable and safe
I did a lot of research before buying a Honda certified Fit. It gets very good safety ratings and is reliable. I like the basic control panel - less to worry about. My only disappointment is that it has a big blind spot.

On balance, a recommended car
It's not a particularly quiet car, but rides and handles well on reasonable - or better - road surfaces. (Keep the tires & wheels regularly balanced and rotated.) For a driver with a light foot on the gas pedal, MPG is great. Just completed a 280-mile road trip and got 41 MPG. Overall MPG for all driving in 2018 was 37.0, and MPG for 2019 should be around 36.6. Has great cargo space for its small size. Acceleration is not too good, but that's not why one should own one of these cars. Reliability has been excellent; the one exception was in June 2019 when the A/C system developed a small leak. Seats are good. The original, factory-installed Dunlop tires lasted 63000 miles and have been replaced with Yokohama tires. Overall MPG as of June 2022 is 37.2, for all driving. As of June 2023, overall MPG is down to about 33, but that's because I'm not driving nearly as much as I once did. Recently, I replaced the rear shock absorbers at 97,000 miles, but the car is otherwise doing well. The car has now reached 100,000 miles and continues to run well. i traded it in with 107,000 miles for a new Lexus in November. The new car will be good - it should be for the price! - but I'll miss having the 5-speed manual transmission.

Great economy car. One of our best decisions.
The 2013 Honda Fit was intended as a solid no frills car. Its price at that time was about $15K out the door. That's right ! ! ! It was also intended as a light weight tow vehicle for our RV. For that, the manual transmission was perfect. Fuel economy (mpg) has always hovered in the high 30's, even low 40's on occasional trips. Repairs in the 9 years we have owned the car are essentially NON EXISTENT. It has been noisier and less comfortable than other cars we have owned, or could have selected. But that is consistent with no frills, low cost transportation. If it hadn't gone out of production, I would buy again in a heartbeat !

Love my little Honda fit
I love my Honda Fit.It's a practical little car. I have the problem.Replace the water pump, but otherwise from that if tdealership had no b******Dealership hadn't a blow my motor I wouldn't really feel good about it. Every time I need an oil change, the car starts to jerk. The car hasn't been the same since the dealership blew my motor although they did replace it but I think it's a garbage motor.

My first car, so acknowledge the bias
I really like the 2013. Though I have nothing to compare it to, it has been far more reliable than the cars my friends and siblings have gotten over the years. The gas mileage is great! If I remember correctly, it's 36 mpg. Something like that. Before the gas prices started going up so drastically, when (where I lived) gas was $2.50, I was probably spending at most $22-$25 on a FULL tank. I've yet to talk to someone who paid less at that time. The car is also super spacious! There's lots of head room which was main gripe with other cars like the Nissan Juke, but with the Fit, you've got lots of room to be comfortable. I will say, I rarely sat in the back seat of my car. Leg room is - naturally - significantly less than that of the driver/ passenger seat, but there was still plenty of space. I'm also a huge fan of the amount of cupholders in this car. I carry a lot of knicknacks in my car in the event of anything unfortunate happening and I still have 3 cupholders open for my drinks. There are a total of 10 cupholders in the car - 2 in the back, 2 shared in the middle at the end of the center console, and then 2 for the driver and 2 for the passenger. For me, the trunk space was more than sufficient. I really enjoy the little hatchback shelf that sits at the rear window level, it gives you even more room for things when traveling. Some issues I have with my car was the road noise. I've been told Hondas are kind of notorious for the road noise, but the seal on my passenger door was also broken a little bit so it was louder than I'd have like. I also felt some resistance in the steering wheel, which I think is more of a subjective issue, but for me I've found myself holding the wheel pretty tightly which has caused some discomfort for my hands. The 2013 Fit does not accelerate overly fast at all and when I do try to speed up quick mine sputters and it makes me nervous so I avoid it for the most part. The gas and the break aren't too sensitive, which isn't the worst, but it would be nice if there was just a touch more sensitivity there. In the past 4.5 years that I've had this car I only had to take it to the shop for it's regular oil and tire maintenance. In the past 3 months is the first times I've ever had any issues with it (the valves weren't clean which is apparently something that should be cleaned every 100,000 miles for Hondas and the fuel pump gave out). I think that's what I'm most proud about in my car is that despite being driven by a young school girl for the past 4 years, it's only now having issues, whereas a lot of people I know that are my age seem to have some sort of issue at least once a year. And none of them drive Hondas. These are the things that stand out to me most with this car. Overall, I would say it's a high recommend from me. It's a very reliable, low-maintenance car that can get you anywhere and everywhere whenever you need.
