Used 2016 Honda CR-V SE 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl CVT) Consumer Reviews
Nice features with some roughness
After three weeks of ownership on the 2016 Honda CR-V SE model I’ve got some short term impressions. The car handles very well and has a great turning radius. The smaller size makes it much easier to get into a parking space than my 2004 Honda Odyssey that I traded in. The electronics are fun with the I-Phone hookup, USB and aux connectors, and backup camera. The instrument cluster has a whole array of warning lights and information and you can even check the miles per gallon that you are getting. I like that this year’s model still has a CD player in it and a mechanical speedometer. The owner’s manual can be a little confusing because it has instructions for all of the different trims. Also I have yet to find the recommended service intervals in the manual. I was told just wait for the maintenance minder to come on. I like the way that the gear shifter goes straight up and down and doesn’t require a jog to get into the lower gears. The car has good pickup for a 4 cylinder and really doesn’t feel under powered. I got between 30 and 33 miles to the gallon on a recent trip. The visibility is really good all the way around and there is an extended view on the left side mirror that gives a wider range than usual so that the car in the next lane is visible in the mirror almost until they are right beside you. The trunk space is pretty large and the way the 2nd row seats fold in with a lever is really clever and easy on the back. The main disappointment that I have had to this point is the road noise and rough ride. I did not notice it so much on the test drive but it became more noticeable as I drove it more. The car is unforgiving in picking up the noise from the road surface and is bumpy if you are not on a perfectly smooth road such as concrete. When I complained to the dealer about the bumpiness they balanced the tires which helped some but said I cannot expect it to ride as smooth as my Odyssey because it is a smaller car and has a stiffer ride. I notice also that the car feels lightweight and most of the interior surfaces are plastic. Also there is a small vibration from the motor sometimes when I am at a stop light and some small engine chatter that I can hear. I would just suggest to try different cars out before deciding on this one and make sure that it is right for you. You may end up sticking with the CR-V but at least you will have some other models to compare it to.
LOVE my Grainger Honda!
Vibration issues non-existent with 2016 refresh. Rolled over into new lease on a '16 CR-V SE, after previously leasing a '13 CR-V LX. Love the refresh! The SE added 17" alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, and security system. Also like the center console-mounted a/c ducts for the rear passenger area. Color is mountain air metallic, with beige cloth seats, pillars, and head-liner contrasting a black interior. Went to dealership (Grainger Honda in Savannah, GA) searching for white diamond pearl, but was not readily available. Sales rep showed me the mountain air metallic and as soon as I saw the interior, I was in love! Went for a test drive and CVT shifting was smooth and effortless. Under normal driving, the CVT is barely noticeable. Just press the gas and you're off! The car has very decent acceleration and will get up to freeway speed quickly. While cruising at around 55-60, if you put the pedal to the metal, the engine will rev up to about 5,000 rpm before the rest of the car "catches up" and, if you're not paying attention, you'll be doing over 90 in under 10 seconds! Gas mileage is excellent, very close to what I was getting with the old CR-V. Highway mileage with the CVT is a tad lower, but city mileage has improved greatly!

Just passed 121,000 miles
I financed our 2016 Honda CR-V SE when it was 3 years old, most likely an expired lease, certified plus extended warranty to 100K and never needed to use that warranty because everything has worked just fine. I do take it to Honda dealerships for maintenance. I have not experienced the vibration issues others have mentioned. Visibility is great. Able to carry and haul so many things! Even put a hitch on the back for a U-Haul trailer. The back seats fold forward and down with a simple pull of a strap creating an almost flat surface with the rear cargo area. Back seats also split. Headrests drop forward for better visibility out of the back window when seats are still in up position. Handles well - wife claims its stability may have kept her from a bad accident when a truck crossed over in front of her lane such that she had to quickly steer out of the way. Could have been a situation where she toppled over but did not! Fantastic mileage - the trip meter shows I currently average 33.4 mpg. I do mostly highway driving and use the Eco feature. My version does not have heated seats, but the ac/heater does work well. I don't have fog lights. I do wish the CD player had a rewind feature where you don't have to start at the beginning of a song. My complaints are few and no comparison with the peace of mind, dependability, and usefulness of this Honda for 6 years of second hand ownership. I've always liked its look. The headlights do need a professional cleaning now although I might have them replaced because I will most likely keep this SUV for years. Highly recommend!

We are so disappointed in Honda
When you ride in it more than 10 minutes your back and hips will feel like they're broken. No lumbar support, very poor cushioning and design. Seat length is way too short to support your thighs. We had been a Honda family for 20 years, but now forced to buy from another manufacturer who makes great seats and cares about our bodies. Shame on you Honda.
