Civic EX -- EXcellent!

2006 Honda Civic EX 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 5A)

Quality is obvious. A subcompact with sex appeal. The car is a total fun ride from the get go. Tight and responsive, accelerating, braking and cornering -- almost a sports car feel. And, yes, it is sweet on gas! -- if anything Honda underestimates their MPG ratings. Other car companies would do well to model this. This is my third Honda -- two Accords, and now this, so my experience with better-than-stated MPG ratings has some background.

They don't make 'em like they used to

Have had to bring it in to the dealer 5xs for defects. Received the car with a scratched lense on the tachometer (from the inside). The back windshield would pop-out whenever I closed the back door. The seat belt sensor on the passenger side was defective and they had to change a computer in the dashboard. They recalled it because the accelator woudl get stuck, and NOW the passenger door handle came off when simply opening the door.(I never even use that side).

It's a blast

2006 Honda Civic Si 2dr Coupe w/Summer Tires (2.0L 4cyl 6M)

So I was not really looking to get a Civic until I drove the new Si. I have had classic Chevys over the years and they have all been over 300 hp. I know the the SI is not 300 but it still has guts for a 4 banger. The handling of this car is great right off the lot. I have yet to change anything to do with the suspension and I don't belive that I will. I did put 18" wheels on it with better tires. It made a pretty big difference.

After 7,000 miles

2006 Honda Civic Hybrid 4dr Sedan (1.3L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

I would recommend reviewing the Civic Hybrid after 6 months or so. I reviewed shortly after purchase and have a few additional comments now that I have had some time with the car. Still a great car and glad I made the purchase. Fairly comfortable on long trips but as in any car, the sitting gets a little rough. Cruise is fairly steady but deviates about one mile/hr over/under the set speed as the engine has to catch up and back off. The audio w/ navi is not really XM ready. It still needs a tuner and a couple other parts. With installation, the dealer wanted $700. Otherwise, this car is one of the best buys. Get the Navi for sure. It is excellent, especially with voice recognition.

This is the first car I owned where the gas mileage sticker was true. I have gotten over 43 MPG on Texas interstate Hwy and mid to upper 30's city. Style, comfort and ride is super and it's fun to drive
