Nice Little Car

2006 Honda Civic EX 2dr Coupe (1.8L 4cyl 5A)

I've had the car for close to 2 years but don't drive it on the highway all that often. Also, the town I live in is really bad for gas mileage, with stop signs and traffic lights at seemingly ever corner--and lots of corners! On the highway, I've gotten high 30s, which seems pretty good to me. In town, I'm lucky to get 23 mpg. I like the seats a lot, and it's one of the few cars I've had that doesn't have any rattles. Also, I've had no problems to complain about when I take it to be serviced.

LOVE my Civic Hybrid!

Bought this car in November 2009 after making a move to Arkansas. I purchased it with only 48,000 miles on it, plus I lucked out because it is fully loaded with Navi and AUX input for my iPod. Had to drive two hours to Tulsa to get it but it was well worth it; the drive home was so much fun I didnt want to get out of the car when we finally made it back! Its been to Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, and I am always the one volunteering to drive because I love it so much. The turn signals on the mirrors are an awesome touch. Has been in the shop twice but only for recall fixes. Would absolutely buy again

It's good, but not great

Not sure how I got so lucky, but my gas mileage has been ranging around 36- 38mpg this summer. I like the interior and don't have any problems with the digital speedo or the parking brake lever digging into my leg (I'm only 5'8"). Inside of windshield does get dirtier than in previous cars I've owned. Squeaks and rattles are MUCH more numerous than in my previous car, the Mazda Protege. Body roll and handling in general is inferior to the Mazda, but I can live with it. Factory Honda stereo is significantly better than the Mazda, and I like the aux input on the EX. Seat comfort on long trips could be better (little too firm for me).

SI - Surgical Instrument?

2006 Honda Civic Si 2dr Coupe (2.0L 4cyl 6M)

After having my Civic Si for 7 months, I have to say I am in love with this car. (Shallow, I know) Now I wouldn’t call myself an overly aggressive driver, but we’ll just say that I’m not afraid to under steer or over steer a vehicle, with all the tire noise and panicked passenger(s) to boot. I like to power out of corners, or put another way; brake hard, throw in, and punch out. This car excels at this. The helical limited slip puts the power where it’s needed and without a lot a lot of fuss. Strait line weapon? Not sure. But chase it up through five (of six) gears on a Saturday night and the local judge may need to be roused from of bed if you want to go home before Sunday's sunrise.

Civic Poor Quality

We bought the Civic for fuel economy and reviews that indicated the Civic was a high-quality car. We drive mostly in the city, with an occasional long highway trip. The car has been very frustrating because of the overall poor quality of the construction. We will never consider buying a Honda again. Major problems: Driver side front door not aligned. Took 3 visits to dealer to get it close. Right side of car is 3/16 inch higher than left--Honda says this is OK. Many body noises, especially loud rattle coming from wheel well on right front. Transmission grinds (this is an automatic!) when trying to decide what gear to be in--Honda says there is nothing wrong.
