Honda Civic SI 2004

2004 Honda Civic Si 2dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

What you should know. First the car is a blast to drive. I have driven RSXs, Mazda 3s, and Corollas. The SI is my favorite to drive. It handles well and the rally shifter helps make you feel like you are in control on your car. The SI transmission is touchy so you have to master it but when you do driving it becomes even better. Acceleration is moderate, although when you hit about 40mph then the car goes. It's roomy for a small car, people sit back there and always tell me how comfy and how much leg space is back there. Plus the seats in the back come down for when you want to transport a lot of your junk. And trust me I have done that a lot. All in all a great car almost about to hit 60000.

This car has everything I want. The lack of rear doors is compensated by the folding back seats. I can easily fit skis and snowboards in there. The mileage is obviously less than advertised. I get about 24/34 city/highway, while redlining it after every red light and toll booth. The goofy-looking thing has its own personality. It feels like a puppy who wants to sprint, just give it a little incentive. The shifter is easy to reach and the suspension is not too rough and hugs corners swimmingly. I have easily fit 3 people in the back, and the front bucket racing seats are amazing. No other car I have driven has the same sporty feel as this one. And i owned VW's, mercedes, ford, and acuras.

I love driving this car. It is even more satisfying knowing that it's good on gas. I get better than rated mileage in this car. I haven't even modified it. This car is great for people who enjoy driving and who have needs beyond merely getting there. It's nice to have a spacious small car that still performs and isn't that expensive.

Where is the performance?! This is not the car I thought I was buying. Why did Europe get the Type R model? For all you people thinking that you got a great car go online and see the car Europe got. You will think twice about buying the Si. At highway speeds the transmission whines like a spoiled child. I keep reaching for another gear that does not exist. The ride is very rough. This is not a comfortable car for driving any kind of distance. Lousy fuel economy compared to the standard civic. The silver coating on the center console is cheap and easily scratches.

You have to like 2 door cars, the versatility of a hatchback, and a slightly noisy ride, but this is a fun car to drive. The engine is 160hp and it will acceleratequickly. The front seats are supportive and the shifter is in a unique location.

The Forgotten Honda

I bought my '04 SiR (Canada) with 180 000 km on it, a mechanic used to own it, so it was still in great shape, compression was A1 and took no oil. I'm now at 220 000 km and still runs awsome, very reliable little car. Didn't do much repairs on it except regular maintenance. I use it as a daily driver and do at least 180 km a day on average, it gets great mileage and hasn't let me go yet. Above all, it's a blast to drive, handles great, but in a weird kind of way: understeers a lot, but it will still manage to get around the corner very quickly. My only complaint: Needs more power, it tends to feel weak at low RPM's, but thank god, like all Hondas, it loves to rev :)

My 2002 honda civic sir is the worst vehicle I ever owned. Gas guage never worked, parking brake never worked, cruise control quit, rain cutter mouldings came out, rear window washer motor and assembley had to be replaced. Gas mileage was poor. The engine ran rough cold and would cough and sputter when hot. The longer I drove it the rougher the clutch and shifting became. I put 31000 km on this car in 11 months. I dealt the car for a four door civic after a 11 months of trouble with the sir hatchback.

I bought this car in 2006, and have not had a single problem. I love taking it up past 5000 (and so does it). You can't give this car too much abuse. It just laps it up. Although, I agree with top gear, it is a "bit of a tripod". It handles like a dream, and accelerates like a bloody rocket! I'm averaging about 30-35 on the highway, and that's at a constant 6500 rpm! I'm pretty sure if I slowed down a bit, I could get better mileage. Nah...

I've owned the Si for a year now, and its been a great ride. I love the car more now than when purchased it. Build quality is unbelievablet; interior quality is phenomenal(still not a SINGLE rattle!), and the exterior body panels fit so tightly that they are near seamless. The suspension and handling show their European origin (Si's are built in England). The stiff suspension, tight steering and solid chassis make for a remarkably stable ride. The hatch is very useful, and the interior is roomy. The car may appear funky in pictures, but its great in person. Sure, it's not a bling-bling, super sexy, gimmicky car... but it IS a great car. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I bought this car a year ago and have put 24000 miles on it, mixed city/highway. It is STILL a lot of fun to drive and I'm still getting 24- 28 city, 32-35 highway. It loves to run at high rpm and because of that, commuting is no big deal - I can stay in 3rd gear from 10 mph to 55 mph and clutch foot doesn't have to get tired. Lots of zip (you do have to know what gear to be in!), still love running up through the gears.

I bought the Civic Si after also looking at the Nissan SPEC V and the Mazda3. I can't really pinpoint the exact reason I chose the Honda, it just felt better. I've had the car for two weeks now and it is running great. I'm not seeing the fuel economy yet but that will come in time. The only blip I've found so far is that the visor on the passenger side vibrates and is noisy at around 45+ mph. The factory stereo leaves A LOT to be desired.

I fell in love with this car the first time I ran it up through the gears: the steering is tight, the gear pattern is tight, the suspension is tight and feels right with the rest of it. Sporty feel. Gas mileage is better than stated: we're getting 27-28 city, 32-35 highway. And those highway miles are at well over the speed limit. Plenty of power for passing up-hill. Stable at speed and doesn't get blown around by trucks.

It is exactly what I thought i was purchasing, a high-strug pleasure. Ideal engine for commuting and leaving the vTec for the weekends. I'm 6'6" too and fit like I should (depends on the leg to torso ratio though). Cornering is the best I've experienced. it feels like you're on rails.

I love driving my new Si. It handles beautifully, performs great in gears 1-3, and has very comfortable, firm, well-designed seats. Three complaints: lousy visibility in back (cute small rear side windows a problem), less-than-wonderful turning circle, and it is a mite underpowered.

I wasn't in need of the car for another two months. So the research began, how well recieved was this impresive little car. Well the day finaly came I'm not easy to make happy and every time I get the chance I want to drive it. I can't imagine what else I could want from it

THE SEATS ARE VERY COMFORTABLE I WAS A LITTLE CONCERNED AS ABOUT A SMALL CAR AS I'M A BIG GUY AT 250LBS. TO TRY OUT ITS POWER I PUT MY FAMILY IN THE CAR TWO ADULTS & 3 KIDS IN BACK, WOW PLENTY OF POWER. I WILL NEVER SIT IN THE BACK SO I'M NOT CONCERNED ABOUT THE ROOM IN THE BACK SEAT. THE INTERIOR FEATURES COULD BE A LITTLE BETTER. VERY GOOD VISIABILITY THIS IS A GREAT FUN CAR TO DRIVES

I was going to buy this car back in 2003, but decided to stay a little longer with my 8 year old car and save some money. I just got the 04 model yesterday and although I haven't being able to push it (break-in period); it feels solid. Engine is quiet upon acceleration and super quiet when idle. Road noise can be felt at freeway speeds, but it is a "sports" car. Compared to my old car, the handling is very precise and the transmission is second to none. Got the car for $17,100 plus tax and title.

I recently purchased this car yesterday, June 29th, and this is the most fun I've had. I jumped up from a 2001 Chevy S10, which was not the best truck, but was practical. This Si has great room in the front and the back (my head does not touch the top when sitting up in the back seats 6') and has great gas mileage. LoVe It.

I had a 2002 si that I loved, but I didn't like the 15in. wheels, and the styling was a little bland. They fixed all that with the 2004. Great car. A real sleeper.I'm 55 years old, and I think that there's a ton of old farts like me out there would really enjoy this little gem. Fastest car on the road....no. Best milage...no. best all- around value in an economic set of wheels? yup!

Great car, quite peppy, holds the road quite nicely. Outside styling a bit odd (that is why I bought it!. More european vice Japanese. Built in England, but with Japanese quality. My only real gripe so far is the cars interior scratches real easy and the seat material should have been all cloth vice the mesh material used. I drive it daily as my work car and it does great. When I put the wife and kids in, we still zip right along, but prefer to drive with them in the Honda Odyssey. This is my car!

it is an all around excellent vehicle. the 2.0l engine gives plenty of horsepower and torque. rally style shifter is ergonomicly superior to the standard shifter and the suade race seats are extremely comfortable. i installed a 2 inch lowering kit on mine, and it grips better and still retains the factory ride. not bumpy at all. if you want a car that looks great, runs fast, has great gas milage and is still comfortable and fun to drive i would HIGHLY reccomend the civic SI. gotta love the SI !!!!!

Has right amount of power with headroom. VS. others: focus - no rear head rests, cheap plastic interior, noisy mazda3 - great, but console blocks my leg impreza wagon - felt loose, closing doors caused rattles all over, uncomfortable driver seat bottom forester X - very nice overall, too much $$$, vague stick, not sure I like hill holder vibe (AWD & FWD) - very noisy, no power in automatics mini - very nice, but dealer too far, premium gas element - drives like a truck

My wife and I live in Atlanta and probably don't fall into the target market for this car: Mid 40's, No kids, Annual income 150+, conservative. However, we love this car. We were looking for an "Anti-Atlanta" car (e.g., BMW, Mercedes, Lexus). We wanted a Prius but with an 18 month waiting list...couldn't touch it! This car is a great car, fun to drive, comfortable, stylish, and a great vaue (paid $17,100). You have to wonder how people pay $30,000+ for cars!

I sold my Wrangler (which I loved) because of a new long commute to work, and needed economy. Si wasn't my first choice, but only because I hadn't thought of it and was looking into more common cars. What I like about it is that it isn't so common. I've noted it on the street before, and it seems so much nicer-designed than a base Civic. I feel small inside, considering it *looks* small on the outside. To me it is very quiet, smooth, adequately powerful. My beefs are with ergonomics and design. The big silver swath that is the center console is cheap/ugly compared to the nice materials used throughout the rest of the cabin-it looks like an afterthought. Its great overall.

Overall, I absolutely love this car. My only major complaint is that there's occasionally excessive cabin noise from the brakes. I also wish that the gear ratio between first and second was a little closer. Aside from that, I get better than posted mileage (I average 31 mpg mixed, 34 if I'm only driving highway), the seats are extremely comfortable, the handling is close to perfect, the design is original and attractive.

Super quality materials inside. Made in Europe. Great value at $17,200. Hondas hold their value great. I'm already ahead of the depreciation curve after only 1.5 years.

It's been 3 years and 47,000 miles and I still love this car. Good acceleration, responsive. It still sings under my hands. And still gets great gas mileage (24 city/28 highway)

My Si has has a supercharger, headers, cold air intake and catback exhaust. It makes about 210ish HP and 150ish torque. Its have plenty of speed and a lot of fun to drive. I still maintain 20-23 local and 25-30 highway. I don't like the stock body much but it looks sharp with the HFP package
