Hi, This is a great car. If in good condition it would be a great bet as a used car. I did have a problem with the distributor bearing. The car needed a new distributor . Other than that it has been a classic Civic with all the reliability.

I love this car, which is why I have had it for so long - 11 years now! Honda quality, reliability, and reputation are second to none. It is quick, great-looking, has lots of room, rides nice, handles great, and gas mileage is awesome. What's not to like? I highly recommend this car and any Honda in general.

This is my first car. I purchased it for just under three thousand dollars. After some mechanical work it was as good as new. The only thing that really bugs me is the rust around the wheel wells.

After owning a 8 cyclinder 2000 grand cherokee in nyc and the gas price are 2.20 a galon. 60 dollars a week in fuel. i had a buy a cheap car that was good on gas. i checked out the web site and read about the civic hatch and heard great things about the car. i had to buy one. i bought a 93 hatch with 118k on it. I must say its a great lil car. i had to install a stero system soon as i got it. so far it runs great and its realible. i love honda.

Why can't GM make a reliable, high- mileage car like the Civic In 11 years and 82,000 miles, we've had to replace the brakes, alternator, battery and clutch to the tune of maybe $2000. It still gets 30 miles to the gallon in the city.

A honda Civic will be one of the Best cars you will ever own. I bought mine in 2000 with 80,000 miles. By the time I sold it, it had 130,000. The only repairs were a hole in the exhaust and a distributor (common for this model yr.) The small engine with an automatic lacked low end torque, but by the time it it 3500 rpm it started to move nicely. No trouble to do 60+ on the hiway. The car had a very nice ride yet still cornered easily. No squeaks or rattles even after 130,000 miles and the way i drove the hell out of it. Nice room for a car in this class too. I miss the Civic. In fact, after a Jeep and a Cavalier since then, I am buying an 04 Civic

Honda did an exceptional job building this car. Definitely worth every penny! Performance, mechanics, handling, style is great. All you have to do is follow the maintenance schedule. Can't say enough good things about this car, It has 135K+ miles on it and with proper care probably will run for another 135K no problem.

I love this car. I have had 7 cars since my 16th birthday in march of 2003. But this one is by far my favorite. The only thing that I dont like about the car is the interior, mainly the placement of the vents. With the vents on, you cannot point the middle ones near your chest. They blow right in your face. It's easy to fix though, just don't use them. :)

When i first bought this car it had 120k on it. and in the 2 years ive been driving it the car still runs great. i swapped in an acura GS-R motor at 140k. If you thought the car was fun to drive before. It is simply amazing now. The power is amazing, and going up to the 8k rev limiter will def. surprise a few people. the car has had no major problems since i swapped the motor and im now at 156k on the chasis. This car is a definately fun car and not only is it now fast but it handles just as well.

We had a beautiful little red Civic EX Coupe. Added a Honda spoiler & alloy wheels but other than that it was all stock. Great car for 11-1/2 years for my wife and a year or two for my long commute/ high gas prices. Only needed to replace oil and fill with gas. The services were minimal cost. The first $$$ fix was about three years ago when one CV boot went. This past summer the ignitor went out in the distributor and she got the 100,000 mi timing belt and pump. My son loved it. It was running great until he dodged a deer running out in front of him at 9pm this past fall. Hit a ditch & rolled 2-1/2 times. He turned off the engine opened the door & got out. She protected him well!

260k miles and going strong

I am a Honda person for life now!! 260,000 hard miles, uses no oil and not a single major repair. Over 40mpg highway and 35mpg city. I suggest sending the fuel injectors in for off car cleaning every 100k miles (NONE of the bottle stuff works, I tried it all) and do yourself a favor and install a high flow airfilter and muffler. It does NOT have to be a loud "coffee can" to improve performance AND mileage. My exhaust manifold developed a crack around 200k and I replaced it with a header because of lower cost. I would never go back. There was no downside and my engine was more responsive at all rpm's. I use a 50% mix of synthetic and regular oil this made a noticeable improvement in hp & mpg.

well, i have to say that this truly is a wonderful car. i bought my civic just to have as a beater b/c my grand cherokee gulps too much gas. i ended up liking my civic so much that i sold the jeep and rely solely on the civic. shes ugly...the clear coat is peeling and the rear quarters are rusting, but she runs like a champ. i still get 40mpg commuting thru the rocky mountains at 80mph everyday for work. at 10000 feet above sea level, that truly is amazing. even with my automatic transmission, it still does well. it now has 166k and i am hunting for a new vehicle now that i have graduated from college but i cant make myself get rid of such a wonderful vehicle. it doesnt even burn oil!!!!!!!

This car was a great first car for me. It had great styling, gas mileage, and was extremely reliable. I bought it with 205k and it went to 222,000 miles without any issues! I went to take it in to have them evaluate some noise it was making and it would have cost more to fix it then to just trade it in. So I opted to purchase a new civic from the dealer. Besides that, I never had any issues whatsoever which surprised me with the high mileage it had.

Purchased new for EPA rating of 48/53 mpg. Still getting 40+mpg in combined driving. Currently 201,000 miles. I stuck to major maintenance schedules, and still have original radiator, clutch. Paint and interior still in great shape. GREAT little car, get a Honda only if you value a reliability, resale value, smart design, comfort, and want a worry-free ownership experience.

this car is so good on gas, i average 6.5 litres per 100 km, mix of city highway. the interior is very roomy, good head room for 6'2" driver. More rear seat room than most big cars. I put a trailer hitch on it; pulls a single seadoo no problem. little 1.5 liter engine is nice and quiet. The car is quick, goes over 180 km/h. manual tranny is nice, precise shifting, if your not after status, this can't be beat.

This is my first car, as an early driver I have little experience at the wheel, however have driven many different cars, from different manufacturers. And I can say with utmost confidence that this is by far the best econo car you could buy at the time of manufacture. It outperforms, neons, cavaliers, sunfires. A few races with people with these cars has shown me this clearly, by blasting by them with a smirk on my face as they struggle to keep up. Handling is very sharp, however there is a tad bit of body lean, and brakes are really sharp and when properly used, stop surprisingly fast.

14 years flew by so fast. I clearly remember the day I purchased this car. A day after my 22nd birthday. Just a few weeks ago I was talking about how I want to keep this car forever but on Oct 26, 2007 with over 182000 miles on it, a deer abruptly ended it. The 30+ miles to a gallon with an average maintenance cost of less than $600 per year will definitely be felt and missed. If there is a Hall of Fame for cars this one no doubt will be inducted. I am not saying this car is perfect, just like any mechanical device it had its malfunctions but none of them major. It stranded me once due to a blown computer chip but overall it met my expectations of reliability, build, and economy.

This is a vehicle I never thought I'd enjoy driving. I gave up my commuter car a year ago, bought my wife a new car, and inherited her Civic grudgingly. However, it grew on me... it's spartanly comfortable, gets great gas mileage, drives and handles well. Although not powerful, the light weight of the car and spritely engine give it acceptable punch at expressway speeds. I compare the driving of a 1993 Civic to that of an imagined (although soon to be a reality) 1-series BMW!

Purchased my Civic LX new in March of 1993. Almost 170k miles later still drives fine. Even with the automatic I get about 38 mpg on the freeway. Collision damage aside, the only repairs were to replace the rear main seal, distributor rotor, muffler (rust) and igniter. I didn't expect this car to last more than a decade but then again I've never owned a car made in Japan before.

Best Econo Car Ever Made

Best econo car ever made and owned so far. Very easy to modify (interior/ exterior wise). I've added a 94 si moonroof, rear windshield wiper, 17" rims, slightly lowered, 99 si dash modification with all red lighting, DC5R steering wheel, 99 si OEM CD player and slave tape deck, better speakers, 99 si head lights, fog lights, 99-00 civic front bumper, power door locks/ power windows, and it still gets 55+ mpg with the added weight. This car may take a while to pick up speed, but is still fast for a super econo engine. So far have had no problems with engine/tranny. A great commuter car. It's a new experience when one drives a car that's nice to your wallet. I'll never get rid of this car!!!
