Awesome Car for the Money
My last vehicle was a Ford F-150 Supercrew. Great truck, but the gas mileage was hurting my pocket book and I felt guilty burning up all that valuable fuel. I had previously owned 3 Hondas and loved their reliability, so I decided to check out the new 2006 Accord. I was impressed with the new look of the car and as soon as I got behind the wheel I felt like I was at home. The car looks great (conservative sporty), has a tight driving feel, excellent acceleration, great ergonomics and reasonable gas mileage. It may not be quite as sporty as our other vehicle (a 2002 BMW 530i), but for the money it is tops on my list of sporty four door sedans!
Best car I've ever owned
Granted, I've only owned three cars but this is the best, and I'm torn what to do at the end of my lease because I LOVE this car! The 4 cylinder 166 HP gives plenty of zoom (for a 4 cylinder anyway, it really has plenty of "get up and go" - my last 2 cars were American 4 cylinders that I had to fight with to go forward). It's comfortable for road trips and much more spacious than my last two cars. Gas mileage is not as great as my last car which got around 30 mpg city, BUT, I will say the sticker said 24 city/34 highway, and I always exceed that - usually 25-26 city, and last road trip I got about 36 highway - can't complain about that.

Fun & Practical
This car is great since I was looking for a 4-door,6 cyl., w/manual trans. The car is solid and has the necessary power when needed (it's so smooth that it's very easy to speed). The dash layout is simple and you also get a sunroof, seat warmers, and XM radio! There is just s slight bit of road noise at higher speeds. You'll be very surprise with the amount of leg room for the back seat passengers and also the amount of space in the trunk. The only item that I need to get use to is the very short distance to shift gears (I'm use to a much longer shift). It took about 10 weeks for my car to arrive Speacial order to get the Sapphire Blue - 6 speed).
good car
I like this car generally, although a few things annoy me about it. First is the high catch point on the clutch makes it a little hard to drive at first until you get used to it. Also, the light steering on this car make it follow the grade of the road too much. I thought the alignment was out, but it just tracks the road curvature a lot. The seats collect lint very easily. The brakes are really grabby.
One Great Car
Ive owned my Accord for 1 year 5 months now. Its been a great car to me other than me having to have the transmission replaced. Dont expect yours to crap out on you though, the previous owner only had the fluid changed 1 time in 100,000 miles. Bad idea. Oh well, other than that its been great! Just usual maintenance is all its needed. It feels like a very solid car, i get 25-27 mpg routinely and all i do is drive to school and work. Its in good shape overall, i do detail it every week. The paint still looks great. Mine has 110,000 miles on it now and it still drives great. VERY smooth 4 cylinder engine and more than enough pick up, this thing is peppy! continued in favorite features section.
Still the Best Car I Ever Owned
Ok, I wrote a review of this car in January 2006 when I had owned it for 4 months. It is now 5 years old and I still Love it! Despite being hit from behind and knocked into another car for $5000 damage and a little later being hit by a tree for another $4000 damage, it still rides and drives as good as the day I bought it! 97,500 miles and only maintenance has been oil changes, tires, one new set of spark plugs, brakes, battery and one headlamp. I don't get quite the gas mileage I should be, but that is my fault as I need to change out the air filter and probably the gas one as well. This is one great car! I will own Honda's from now on!
My best Honda yet
My first Honda was a 1991 Accord DX 4 cylinder with no options, not even a radio. Had one put in later. I drove it for 145,000 miles and it still ran better than any other car I have ever had. I am 74 years old so I have had a few cars in my time. My next Honda was a 1991 Accord EX with leather interior and a 6 cylinder engine that only had 66,000 miles on it when I traded it in on my present 2006 Accord EX with the 244 HP 6 cylinder engine. All these Honda's were for the wife to drive but this last one I really love to drive. I am a fairly large person and the previous cars were too small for me to drive 300 to 400 miles in one day. This 2006 Honda, I can drive forever. Keep building them.
Fun and cheap to run!
72k miles - original brakes, tires, lights, no oil leaks but a few creaks. Fun to drive and easy on the wallet. Four cylinder engine revs and hums like it was new. No end in sight.
Great Car
The Honda Accord is the best car in its class. It takes the bumps like a sports car. The pickup is smooth and quiet. This car makes the BMW 3 Series look like the pile of junk that it is! This has got to be the best value of any car on the road.
Just bought it
The car seems built for an average height person. Being 6' 6", I find it difficult to "fit" in a car. The center console seems low, the headrest too far down and the left door armrest is way too low. Considering I drove an Audi TT Quattro Roadster convertible for four years prior to buying this Accord, one would think I have tons of space and roominess now, but that is not the case. There was more leg room, seat room and arm room in the TT than the Accord. The Accord doesnt seem to handle well either, but that will take some getting used to, as it's not a sports car. A great feature with the Accord is it's reliability.
Unbelievable
2006 accord, 4cyl, automatic, all original, except the starter, serpentine belt, and electric fans. Current mileage is just a tad over 375,000, just changed the oil today.

Great value
I have driven my Accord 2,000 miles in less than 2 weeks and love the car. It has gotten 32.9 mpg to 36.2 mpg which is very impressive. The 4 cyl 5spd manual transmission has more than enough power for me and zooms 80 mph with no problems. If this Accord continues this performance i'll never own anything but a Honda from this point forward.
Its all about design
To me, the car just feels right the seat (power leather), handling, road feel, I4 power. On the typical bad roads in my area, the ride is a bit harsh. Better tires than OEM Bridgestones may help. Fuel mileage is amazing for a car this size. I have not gotten less than 31 mpg and have gotten as high as 38 mpg! Who needs a hybrid?
Good Car
The Accord's ride is rough with alot of road noise on rough roads. The interior is well laid out. For the price of the car, there are many safety features with airbags front, side and rear side bags. The 4 cylinder gas mileage has been exceptional around 34-38 mpg driving on the highway going anywhere fron 65 - 80 mph.
Honda Redeems Itself
Previous to this 2006 Honda Accord I owned a new 2000 Accord EX 4 cyl. for 6 years. After 5 transmissions and numerous other mechanical problems I was very anti Honda. I shopped around for months determined not to buy another Honda. I test drove everything in it's class and I was not impressed with anything. I went to a Honda dealership and drove the 2006 Accord and fell in love with it. I've had it 2 months now and my only complaints are that the exterior paint chips very easy and the car rolls a little when you go from park to drive. The gas mileage is not bad for a 6 cyl. I get about 300 miles for a tank of gas. Overall, I am very happy with this car and would recommend it.
Saved my life!
I was traveling 55 MPH when somebody pulled out in front of me and I hit them square on. The airbag deployed and saved my life. The other vehicle was a large truck so I’m more than happy to still be alive. My next car will be another Accord now that my 2006 is totaled.

Not as good as previous models
Handling not as good as 2002 Accord I had before. Doors are hard to close. Controls for air condidtioning, defrost, etc. poorly located, which makes it necessary to take your eyes of the road. Hood cannot be opened unless you get out of car. Dashboard lights go on when you open the door, then get brighter when you put on the key, then go off, then go on again when you turn on the key. All these games with the dashboard lights are very annoying and serve no purpose. I like the gas gauge and I appreciate the excellent gas mileage, but all in all, I am disappointed with this car. Not as good as the previous Accords I owned.
Great Car
I've had my Accord EX V-6 3 years now, and I've never had an ounce of trouble with it. This is my 3rd Honda and loved all of them. I've driven cross country with it twice, and loved every mile. The car runs as good now as day I bought it. Except for routine maintenance, the only problems I've had with it was a flat tire (I blame NYC streets) and burned out headlight. Tires are expensive for this car, the Michelin tires coast $270.00 a tire. If you are looking for a used car, you can never go wrong with a Honda.
Honda Accord "An excellent vehicle"
I researched the Accord, Camry, and Altima and the Galant and selected the Accord. The Accord is very competent, refined and nimble. Its fun to drive. It feels very sporty.
Fantanstic Value
A very solid, comfortable, and well-built car. Good, economical highway car. Car looks more expensive than it is. For the price, the car is very well-equipped and I have not missed any extras that are available on the other Accord models. Also, the car came with airbags and ABS as standard equipment. I am used to driving a small Civic, and have not had any trouble adjusting to the larger Accord.
Gold Accord EX V6
I have owned this vehicle for about 6 months now and currently have 7200 miles on it. No problems whatsover to date. Previously owned a 2000 Honda Accord LX with V6. Performance has greatly increased going from a 200 Horsepower V6 to 244 Horsepower. Transmission shifts seamlessly and throttle response is almost immediate. This is a very decked out ride for the money. Build quality is good but nothing spectacular. The car comes standard with many features but does not have option for blue tooth. Gas mileage is good for a V6 with this many horses under the hood (Avg. 22 city 29 Hwy). I am happy with this vehicle and would probably buy again. Might take a look at the new 2007 Camry.
06 Honda Accord EXL I4
Very nice upgrade from my old Mazda Tribute which had major issues. This Accord has all of the bells and whistles that my Tribute had, so I am not missing anything. I am big and tall and this is one of the most comfortable full size sedans I test drove, I especially like the seats. The exterior design is much improved from the 03-05 look especially in the rear. I am consistently getting 33-36 MPG on the highways. Once I get new tires the handling on the snow should improve. No problems with this car yet, I hope I can drive this car over 250,000 miles with normal maintenance and no mechanical catastrophes.
Most overated car
I purchased my brand new 2006 Honda Accord SE about five weeks ago and what a disappointment The car is a rattle trap, idles like an old tractor and the gas mileage is nowhere near the one advertised. I went back to the dealership thinking that it might be something wrong with the idle in MY car but surprise... after checking the idle in 6 brand new Accords they all proved to have the same problem. My advice if you are thinking to buy this car is to take a LONG test drive let the car idle with air conditioning on in heavy traffic so you will see if you can put up with the shaking. Do you research... be informed. My other car is a Honda Prelude and is one of the best cars I've ever driven.
Excellent Car - Comprehensive Review
Note: I have owned this car for several months, though my father owned it since March of 2005. The 2006 Honda Accord is a pleasure to drive. It's pickup is quite responsive and powerful, its 244 HP or so is perfect for this car. I also get good mileage, about 22-23 MPG average. The interior is roomy, the seats have a good balance between cushion and support, and the leather has held up well. The ride is average, but controlled. As far as handling is concerned, it has a light feel to it and takes the curbs pretty well, though its not a German car. I will also comment that the speakers are superior to that of any luxury car I've been in, including the BMW 5 series, Acura TL, and Lincoln MKS.
Another Winner!
This is our fourth Honda Accord in fifteen years and each one is better than the previous. It's quite incredible that Honda offers this package for so much less than an LX where there is only minimal differences. Ride, handling and especially acceleration are exceptional for a four cylinder. Gas mileage on the first tank was 33mpg - 70% highway. Price was $100 over cost with some extras thrown in (mudguards, pinstripe). Although I find Accords generally boring, this one is less so than previous years. It's still a generic car, just one that will never break (we average 150,000 miles per vehicle with no major repairs - ever). You really can't go wrong with this car and package.
Should have been better...
I bought this car for the safety, reliability, resale value, and fuel economy. After living with it for 6 months, I really dislike this car. The ride is noisy, bumpy and harsh all the time, the windows and dash are full or rattles, and the driver's seat is a miserable place to spend any time. Cloth upholstery is at the bottom of the class. The standard stereo has a cd changer but the sound is not good. The headlights put out a lot less light than I was expecting. Honda has a great reputation, but that appears to be all you are paying for on this car.
X-B
The new 06' model is simply slick and look much more dynamic than the last model.
Not as good as previous gen
I recently bought this car after selling my 96 Accord coupe. The difference is night and day. The 96 was a coupe so that does make a difference I will admit but other than that they are totally equivalent. Both 5 speed manual, both 4 cylinder with vtec. Let me add that the 96 was clapped out so to speak, I bought it for $600 and it had numerous issues, none on the drivetrain. The suspension was shot, it would rattle constantly and the tires were bald. But it was so so so fun to drive, it was fairly gutless power wise but that made it all the more fun to wring the power out. The handling was great, great steering feel, great seating position. Great shifting action, throws a nice length and felt very connected. As for the subsequent generation that I have now, one word to sum it up is numb. The steering is more assisted than a 70s Cadillac, zero feel. The sound deadening is so effective you can't hear or feel the engine hardly at all. The shifter has such short throws and there's no feel to it, it's really just dead. And it feels as though I'm sitting on top of the car, not in it. Virtually zero road feel overall. One thing it has is more power, which does make it fun. Gets slightly better mileage and it's much more comfortable but if I wanted a plush car I would've gotten an Acura or Lexus.
it's okay
Loud road noise. Annoying. Radio is too week for proper adjustment of road noise. Problems with the heater, runs hot and cool. Remote sucks, I need to be up against the car just about, might as well use the key. Tires on this car are too expensive and not necessary for this model (speed rating wise). Pick up lags a bit. Pulls to the right even on flat roads with the explanation by trained factory techs "all Honda accords do this and we like to call it the 6 second rule", that's stupid. Did I mention the poor remote reception? Cool looking radio minimum features, no speed volume increase, mute. Wipers are poor and the defogger works 1/3 of the windshield. Otherwise great color!
4get the Hybrids! Don't give up size!!
I bought a manual shift 4 cylinder to save gas mileage and to better maintain control of the car... to have fun driving! I have done as well as 39 mpg highway driving, a little better than my 94 Accord stick shift. I use cruise more than the average person. You're going to get fewer mpg when you use gas with ethanol added. With the stick, you don't need 6 cylinders. Couldn't believe I actually looked at and drove others before I got another Accord. Even owned a used Camry for 2 yrs (automatic), but it doesn't have the same drivability as an Accord.
Great Great Car!
I have to admit I have always been a Toyota Camry woman until this car. Love it. I am so pleased with the car, rides great, good on gas, very very roomy. I have the silver which is very good on dirt. This is just a great car and I would tell anyone to get one.
Great Car
Overall, this is a great car. Drives very nicely & is comfortable. Two things I wish it had though are automatic one touch sunroof control, it would be nice. Also, the road noise is a little loud when traveling on the highway. Other than that, it is a great car for the price.
V6 Accord
Quality and great features continue for the 2006 Honda Accord. Fun to drive and good overall performance..
I Love This Car!
Had several SUV's in the past 7 years. Decided to downsize to my Honda due to gas prices and lack of driving excitement. Will not buy an SUV again. What can I say, its a wonderful car. I commute 70 miles per day, averaging 25 mpg from 65% highway, 35 % city driving. Great power, especially accelerating at highway speeds even though I must say, I test drove the Accord EX 4CYL model and found it to have more than enough power. I felt that the V6 had a nicer look though (larger wheels, dual exhaust). It has the feel of a very well made car. Great looking interior (tan leather, with fray/tan dashboard) and very comfortable power seats up front. Nice size car, and the new rear end looks great.
a keeper
i only had one problem with my accord driver weather strip around door other than that none i had 21,000 nor repair problem it's runs like a champ
More than a little disappointed
Many more rattles than I figured from the highly "Acclaimed" Honda. Velor interior starts showing wear at less than 10,000 Mi. Right now, I'm sorry I bought it. Don't think I'd buy another Honda. We'll see how well the dealership stands behind it.
A good buy
I bought the vp edition and it gives me everything i need from comfort and a good ride plus fuel economy with the 2.4 Automatic. I really enjoy this car.
I like it
My wife always wanted a Honda and we deceided to buy a luxury car when our Taurus broke down. The v-6 engine is very strong and the car handles great. I love the sunroof and the cd player. 48 dollars fills up the tank and that will last one week. I feel good about our purchase. Honda did a great job.
One of the best!
I purchased my accord after looking at much higher-priced vehicles such as the Acura RL etc. I found that the accord was the better value overall especially since it was over 7K less. The V6 engine provides enough power. Very comfortable interior. VERY spacious rear seating area. Smooth and quiet ride. One of the best integrated navigation systems available. I love the XM especially on long trips. Fuel management works great and allows you to constantly manage your instant fuel consumption. I was able to get over 30 mpg CITY using this feature (granted i drove much slower but at speed limits). Can't go wrong with this car!
2006 Honda Accord LX Leather
Special order of a LX-L Desert Mist. Came fully equipped with no extras except tinted windows. Never use the sun roof. Car has been very reliable and gets 25 mph in the city. Only complaints are two: (1) road noise on Texas non-skid surfaced roads is so loud as unable to converse except by shouting at highway speeds. Have been told by dealer that this is a common complaint that cannot be fixed by undercoating, etc. and (2) front passenger comfort is poor as feel every bump; hence, this has been turned into a town driving only vehicle. Otherwise, it has been one of the best vehicles we've owned and the 25 mph local mileage is a real plus.
Fun to Drive
I do a combination of city and highway driving. The car is fun to drive and is quiet. I am disappointed with the gas mileage, however, it has improved slightly over in the nine months I have had it. Another disappointment is (and this may be my fault) that the windows somehow open after I park and leave the vehicle. This has happened twice and once the interior got wet because it rained. The Navigation system needs tweaking. When entering addresses and changing the city it reverts back to California cities, and sometimes it doesn't take the information I try to enter.
My First Accord
My first new car purchased and after five months of driving couldn't be happier with it. Overall its a solid car. Plenty of luxury for a nonluxury nameplate car. I decided to get the 6 cycl to be comparable to the power of my previous car a 93 Chrysler Concorde, but also for the better look of dual exhausts and stability control not offered in the 4 cycl. Love the driver friendly interior layout, from the white lighted dashboard to the intuitive controls. Folding down rear seats is rather cumbersome.
Sink the boat of GM
I've owned GM cars for 15 years & never once thought of owning a Honda. After big problems with the LeSabre & the Lacrosse, it was time for a change. The Accord was just the answer I was looking for. Smooth ride and quietness makes the high marks of this car. A little road noise is present, but not a bother. Will keep this car for long time.
Rollin' Along
I purchased my Black Honda Accord EX Leather/Navigation in late May, 2006. I love the look of the car. The seats are comfortable, and the steering feels just right. I get a lot of road noise, and the engine runs loud especially when accelerating. The ride is not as smooth as my Toyota Sienna. The dashboard dimmer light is in an akward position. The voice activation feature leaves much to be desired. Various commands not related to the a/c toggles the a/c on and off. Manual audio controls are needed. Trying to use the touch screen while driving is dangerous.
Improved for 2006
Every since the last re-design of the Accord I have been lukewarm about tail of the Accord - maybe silly, but I did not like it. For 2006, Honda improved the looks, but also improved the engine (4-cyl). After test driving, I was convinced I wanted this car. I purchased mine less than 3 weeks after the release of the 2006 (I never purchased a new design - even mid-cycle). I am impressed with the quickness and control of the 2006 Accord. Honda has made improvements in cabin quiteness (over previous generations) and I am very happy with my purchase.
Reliable commuter car
The car is very reliable with great fuel economy for a midsize, but the finish out is cheap. Glove compartment drawer rattles and there is rattle from trunk lid. I've learned to live with it, instead of taking it into the shop. Driver door handle faux metal finish flaked off within the first 10,000 miles (replaced - no charge). The seat heaters only heat the seat and not the lumbar/lower back. Seats are not made for long trips (3+ hours) without a stretch break. Finish out is the biggest negative and almost enough to trading-in or sell an otherwise reliable vehicle.
Best car I have owned
Bought the my Accord in 2009 with 30k miles, it now has 134k miles. I use it to commute to work. I have never had to do any work other the maintenance. Its fun to drive and gets great mpg. I bought my car from a dealership and its lowered. I love the look and style. Roomy interior to par. I have 2 more payments till its paid for. I'm seriously debating to buy another newer Acura or just keep driving this one.
Great car
I just finished my first tank of gas in this car. It lasted 2.5 weeks and I got just over 30mpg with mixed driving. This car has nice power and drives smooth as silk at all speeds up to 85 (fastest I have driven it to date). The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and evenly during acceleration. The engine purs at 2500RPM at 75mph. The graphite pearl looks great on the vehicle. Also the LED tail lights look great. Interior is roomy and looks nice. Especially like the conveniant CD compartment under the radio. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for fuel economy as well as nice performance (handling and power).
I'm Impressed
I love how much fun this car is to drive, even with an automatic...everything in its driving reflexes feels "spring-loaded". It has very accurate, crisp steering, and the perfect balance (for me, anyway) between handling and comfort on the highway. I drive in bumpy rush hour traffic every morning and it makes the drive so much more enjoyable. You really can't go wrong with this car, it does everything well. I get 36-37 mpgs on highway trips at 75 MPH, and never have a problem passing a dangerous dump truck, just hit the pedal and it takes off! Honda has another hit on their hands with the Accord.
A little bit more..
The 06 is just a little bit more of everything. A bit more powerful, a bit more quiet, a bit more sophisticated, a bit more styled, etc. I traded an 03 and the 06 is just a bit more refined.
