My 1994 Accord
I am 16 and this is my first car. I absolutely love it. It has 129,000 miles on its V6 engine, but still rides and drives like new. Very good car for the money, no rattles or squeaks, still looks good for a 10 year old car. Has excellent power, many optional features
what a great vehicle!
I bought this car new and only had basic maintenance with replacing brakes and oil changes until about 95K when I had to replace the master cylinder. I changed the timing belt as well - car performed well and only started to show signs of rust when I moved to Northeast - about 125K - in the area above the rear wheel well.
Solid and Reliable
Owned the car for 10 years and bought new. Extremely reliable, have 195k miles and still going with original motor and transmission. Other than maintenance, replaced master cylinder, 1/2 shaft axel, radiator, and muffler. With all of these in the last 5,000 miles. 4 cylinder VTEC is adequate but V6 would solve underpower issue at times. A/C was first under new refrigerant...only area of car that is not properly designed.
An awesome car to own
There's no possible way to downplay the overall rating of this car. I am a student in college and am proud (not to mention lucky) to own this vechile. It's needed very little work. This car is fun, reliable, and very sleek. I recommend it to anybody who seeks a comfortable, good-looking car with great handling capability.
my cool accord
I bought this car as 2nd car to not have to drive truck all time. You just can't beat a Honda Accord. 10 years old and dash and instrument panel is modern, excellent quality, and looks good. excellent 5 speed shifting. engine runs like new. very good handling/ride compromise. cold a/c. great gas mileage. still looks hot even at 10!!! NO American make of same age could even come close to the attributes of the Accord!! Feel like the car has a lot of years left.
MOST RELIABLE CAR
Absolutely incredible reliability. Zero unexpected repairs, only routine maintainance (oil chges, filters, bulbs timing belts, etc.) in over 365,000 miles. Starts better than my wife's new Accord, and drives like the day I bought it; cloth seats show no wear. 2 failures in all this time: cassette player eats tapes so it now holds my CD adapter, and the electric antenna mast needed to be replaced ($25.). I kept it away from local Honda garage which has a reputation for creating problems. This has also been my experience with my daughters '93 Accord which has not been as trouble free (bought used).
Mr. Reliable
I've had this Honda for 5 years and added over 80,000 miles to its initial 59,000. Other than routine maintenance, the car has never had a problem starting or running--and working 80 hrs/week at all times of day/night in snow-country, I needed reliability! Gives an average of 24 MPG in highway with stop/go traffic. Reasonable acceleration (I have a V4), still looks sporty in 2004! Very smooth. Because of it I will always be a Honda fan.
Honda Accord
When I bought my Honda, it was 2yrs old. The car has been excellent. Very few things have gone wrong. It is now over 10yrs old with over 130,000 miles and I know that it will start every morning. Only problems areas have been the a/c and the cv joints. otherwise, I take it in for a tuneup every year and thats it. still put around 15k miles on it a year, and ov80mph on hiway
Get an ACCORD
I had a 1989 model and purchased the 1994 model in 1998. We are so proud of our purchase and yet more please with the reliability that we had through the lifetime with this wonderful car. I had minor repair issues throughout the 6 years we owned and never once would complain. Technology always breaks but for some reason not with a Honda. Very please and will stay within the Honda family of vehicles for our next purchase.
Not Bad... owes me nothing
My main complaint with the '94 Honda is the rust problems with the rear wheel wells. However, I just decided to put some $$$ into fixing the rust since the car has been pretty reliable overall, and actually felt as fun to drive than a new one! In the 7 years I have owned it, have had two oil leaks (one reimbursed later due to recall), and have had to replace both window motors, clutch slave cylinder, and A/C condenser. Removed heat shield to get rid of the silly noise. Currently, the right door actuator keeps making a noise, the hood doesn't shut well, and in really hot humid weather sometimes doesn't start the first time.
Best Car I've Owned
Bought the car with 221k miles on it. Previous owner had done nothing but std maint (tires, brakes, exhaust, tune-up, t-belt). I have put 23k more on it with only brakes and an alignment. Still the original clutch, struts, water pump, etc. with 239k miles...almost unbelievable?! Everything still works on the car (AC, all electric, etc.), and it does not have any rattles (even after a front end accident by previous owner). Doesn't use a drop of oil between changes, and I don't drive this car very easy. By far the best car I have owned, with my Maxima being very close behind. Get a well maintained used one, and don't be afraid of high miles
The reliable machine
I bought my accord 8-year old, and it is two years since then. It has been so faithful to me and worth each and every penny I put on it. Excellent miles/gallon and smooth breaks and gears are the big plus.I highly recommend this car.
Best Car I Ever Had
I bought a 5 speed manual brand new. Had some hassles negotiating the price, but it was worth it. I commute about 100 miles a day, and I didn't baby it. About half of the commute was highway, which I regularly drove at 80+ mph, and the other half was stop & go. By the time I gave it to my brother in 2002, it had about 236K miles. The only real problem I had was the original tires had to be replaced around 20K miles. Over 8 years, I replaced the muffler, timing belt (2-3 times) and the drive axles, all considered normal wear and tear or better. I washed it maybe once a year. Now that my brother babys it and cleaned it up, it looks brand new. It still has the original paint!
perfect all around
Very fun to drive car, what can i say? The 2.2 v-tech is a lot more powerful than it seems. The 94 accord EX is my second accord, and it just keeps getting better. Well worth the money spent!!!
Car of the Year 1994
My car has lived up to its billing as the Car of the Year 1994. I have had minimal mechanical and car related problems while enjoying a classic car with wonderfully designed exterior features and adequately crafted interior features. My son is looking forward to retro-fitting this car to bring it back to a hotter styling but keep the same sporty and functional looks it was created with.
Best Chioce
11 years old and still strong! This is my first car and I've owned it for nearly six years. I've been beating the hell out of this car since high school and it never breaks. Got it with 60K and now with 140K it still runs 100%. With a 5-sp manual and the EX's V-Tec system you can really get exciting performance from this car; however, if you're looking for a fun/fast performer don't get an automatic. I still get 30+ MPG on the highway at 80+ MPH. Other than replacing the master clutch cylender at 70K, only routine maintenance.
We Loved this 94 Accord!
It was a great driving vehicle, handled curves very well. On highway (manual) we got 35 mph, about 30 mph city. Used cruise a lot too. Started out with this car in San Diego and drove all over CA & AZ (94-98). Then took it to Italy with us (98-02) where it went all over Italy & parts of Europe; so reliable we didn't have to worry about it breaking down in little towns and hills of Europe. Returned to States in VA where teenager promptly totaled it along with his dad's Mustang. My brother wanted to sell me 99 Toyota Camry so he could buy something else. Camry just not the driving car the Accord is. I would buy another Honda in a heartbeat!
Lovin my "new" car!
This is my first car, and i'm really enjoying it. My uncle was the previous owner, and he treated it like it was his own child. 11 years old and only 71K miles! He has had nothing but good to say about the car and so far neither do I. Never been in shop besides routine fluid and filter changes. The gas mileage has been rather good, averaging 31 mpg, but got 38 mpg (!!!!) on a 120 mile round trip. Love the handling. Everything feels so solid, like it will hold up for another 20 years. Design inside and out don't look like 11 year old design. Looks as modern as it did in 94. Great job, Honda!!
Perfect car in every sense of the word
I bought this car in August of last year with 135k. I've had some problems out of it (clutch repair, timing belt, oil gasket leak), but nothing unexpected of an 11 year old car. The car is absolutely the most fun car I've ever driven. I have the 4 cyl with a manual tranny, and it's got some serious pickup. I find myself out accelerating a lot of other cars at red lights. THis car is fantastic on long trips (seating is somewhat uncomfortable after a while) and runs so smoothly. The handling alone is worth the buy. I've had this car on the ice and snow, and it's performed beautifully!
Good vehicle to last a long time
A good all around car with little improvement. A much better design than the 93 accord. Looks newer than it really is.
Feel bad when bought , no regret now
Bought in Sep 1999, manual has 85K and in 6 years put 100K on it. Still running great. Wish to drive another 70K and make it 250,000 even without working on clutch work.
Great Investment
Bought Aug 1998, put 25,000 iles per year average. I now have 264,000 miles and still running! Have only had a few repairs over the last 7 years and have no regrets. Minor trim issues (horn buttons, a/c knobs - broke off around 180,000 miles). All in all it has been a joy to own and caused no unusual problems!
don't hesitate
190k and still runs like a top. I would drive it across the country right now. Looking for another 50 gr out of it.
Old Faithful
My Accord is still going strong after the two years that I've had it. It now has 136,000 miles, and still no major mechanical problems. One power window went out, trim piece on driver's door broke off, power antenna stopped working, and one speaker has died. As of lately, the display on the original radio goes off and on. Putting my finger in the cassette slot and pulling out usually solves the problem. So far it has been worth the $5,000 I paid for it. I plan on driving it at least another year or so until I get a pay raise, then I'll get a newer Honda.
Marty's Honda Accord
Over a doz. years of low maintenance and low cost driving. Very few problems at all. Was repainted several yrs. ago. Ride getting a bit bumpy but still a good over-all maneuverable car with body style still similar to current models.
still perfect
I got my white, LX 5-speed brand new at the age of 16. Twelve years and 335,000 miles later it still runs like the brand new. It has never once let me down or left me stranded. Have had to replace only a few things, only because some parts just have to wear out. Interior shows no signs of wear, the body and paint look brand new (have repainted hood and front bumper). Recently purchased a 2001 S2000 for sunny days, but I kept the Accord as a daily driver. Buying a older, well maintained Accord is a smart purchase for anyone!
honda is forever
i have 2 years with my honda and never had any problems with it. it has 169,840 miles and runs like new.
Love my Honda!
I love this car! It's my second Accord, and it's better than the old '83, which had rust from little driving. Instead of abrupt changes, the Honda body style evolves, so the car doesn't look 12 years old, even parked next to another Accord. I've had absolutely no trouble it. I feel safe and secure in my wagon, and I can haul a washing machine or camp out in the back if I must. The worst thing about this car was my friends' reactions. I sold a sports car for it, and they were stunned I went suburban wagon. That said, they all call when they need to move something or take a long trip! I agree with other writers, it's time for Honda to return this gem to the American market!
Best front wheel drive Sedan
So far I've owned this car for over 3 years, and still have no major problems. I guess it's because i owned a troublesome 99 Ford Contour before this... good riddance! The Accord was number one in the FWD sedan category back in the days and can still be if modified correctly. Even though the stock engine makes almost no power, i managed to swap it with a 200hp DOHC prelude engine with a 5 speed, added a better sport-tuned suspension, upgraded brakes, and still didn't manage to break my bank account. Compared to the flabby ride it once was (still a lot better than other sedans back in its days) it's now a quick, maneuverable sports sedan! There's tons of after-market support for this car!
Great Car
I loved this car. Someone ran into me and totaled it, otherwise I would still have it for a long time. When it was totaled it had 175,000 miles on it. Never had anything break on it. The ABS light was on and needed a new computer.
great car
the honda accord is a great car and fun to drive, mine is 10 years old and i have had no problems with it.
Almost loyal as a dog
This has been a reliable car. Before I owned 2 Chevy Cavaliers (ugh), an Audi, a VW Golf, a Ford Escort (double ugh), and a Chevy Celebrity Wagon. Only the Audi and the Golf lasted longer; now at 108,000. However, the finish (white) lost its luster in the FL sun after a couple of years. Recently it wouldn't start within a couple of minutes of shutting off the engine, as when you get gas or are running errands. I just had to replace the master brake cylinder and now stops are bumpy and one setting of the AC doesn't work any more. In thinking about a new car, I wonder if any one that I can afford will hold up as well.
More than met expectations
I have owned Hondas in the past and currently own two. This '94 Accord is what I expected--enough power, acceptable comfort, good styling, and extremely reliable.
Honda EX wagon
I bought my 1994 Accord Wagon used in 1997 with 35,000 miles. I now have 133,700 miles on this trouble free car. The only weak part of Hondas are the brakes. It rides well, has a peppy engine, and looks great. I love the interior. I buy another one tomorrow if Honda would only import a wagon again. (They sell one in Japan and Europe.)
Really Nice - Not Great - One Sour Note
Purchased new in 1993 - the first off of the lot. As of March, 2008 it has 136,000 on it - almost all city with a once-a-year or so long highway trip. Mileage VG 27 city, 30+ highway. Have replaced radiator (2x), starter (2x), CV half shafts, clutch slave and master cylinders, misc. relays, etc. Mechanically, it's never really let me down. My complaint is the paint -- the dreaded Honda clear-coat paint failure hit. It looks like C*!%. Roof, trunk, hood, etc. Honda won't cover any of it ("...normal wear and tear..."). So I'm supposed to justify $500-to-$1,000 for new paint on a car that's now worth $2,500. Despite my satisfaction otherwise, I don't plan on buying another Honda.
Good car
This is a decent car with very few problems. With 138k miles, I have put on a timing belt, water pump and new seals to prevent sudden oil loss (honda recall item). The window regulator was replaced, too. It gets 28 mpg overall. It has a smooth but sporty ride and is quite fast for an automatic. The paint is oxidized a bit and there are some rust spots. I can depend on this car. It is pretty easy to work on as well. You'll enjoy this car.
One of the best cars ever!
I just bought a 94 Accord ex from my Buddy for $600 it came to around $750ish with title fees and whatnot, the car has 188k and runs like it's brand new, I need need to do minor work to make this car purrfect, I order new headers cause 14+ year old headers are rusted and make a funny noise. I just bought new headlights, spark plugs, & a fuel filter one I get those installed I plan on keeping this car running for another 100k
Great car. I love it.and the civic 2
So I have this car a couple of months ago and that car is great, is fast, is sexy, and everything else. Someone hit it in the front I cry for it, the guy thought that I was injured. But I still have it. I'm going to make it nicer and faster now. Is red I'm going to drop it a couple of inch to the floor... Everyone like my car everywhere I stop people ask me how much I want for it... But too bad is not for sale... LOL....
