1995 GMC Jimmy
I love my Jimmy. It's the most reliable vehicle that I have owned other than my 1979 3/4 ton Chevy Cheyenne. The only issue that I have had with my Jimmy is the fuel economy. I accredit that to the fact that it is 13 years old and it's been driven fairly regularly with average maintenance. I would not sell or trade my Jimmy without serious consideration, even with todays gas prices.
body goeth before engine
I bought my truck from a auction, expecting it to run for a year@16500 miles to get me over. Im hitting 200,000. The body is rusting the inside is falling apart, but the dern engine is still going. i want to trade it in, but I cant let it go. Since im good with maintanance on older vehicle (be it that I'm 33 yrs old and female) I think I can get another 40,000. What the heck, its paid for, and im saving money (not on gas though) for that GMC Tahoe. GO GM!!!

1995 GMC Jimy Wagon SLT 4 DR 4x4
My parents bought this truck brand new and used it up to about 84,000 miles. it sat for five years till I took it over. Being that is sat for five years many of the parts are rotted out and needed to be replaced. So far I've had to fix the ac compresor, spider fuel injector assembly, brake system including lines, catalytic converter, starter. I had a few of the parts put in but otherwise the Jimmy is pretty easy to work on yourself. I enjoy the truck and I think even for a 95 the truck looks great. My red paint has held up almost 15 years and except for the few scrathces the paint looks like new, the leather held up and litterly looks new the back seats dont even have any wear marks.
Great beginner's car
I love this vehicle. Got it a few months ago as my 1st car (I'm 17). Very comfortable and nice looking. Easy to drive. Has a lot of modern amenities in it that my mom's 2010 Malibu doesn't even have. 4 wheel drive goes great in tough situations. Gonna keep this until it falls apart. It has no rust and under 130,000 miles on it now so I'm hoping it lasts a long time.
Very Good Vehical
I purchased this truck new and it has been on of the vehicals I have had. With the exception of a few minor repairs and adjustments, when the truck was new, I have only had to replace the alternator on it. The vehical is a tight and handles almost as good as it did when I got it. It has been very rekiable and dependable.
Problems
Fuel injector poppets $600 repair at 60K miles, Fuel Pump, A/C compressor x2, power door locks, $200 EGR valve x2, Transmission dump at 110k, never towed anything, perfect oil change schedule, good regular maintenance schedule. This vehicle has inherent problems not due to owner abuse! BUYER BEWARE!
junk-!
more problems then its worth. blown master cynder bad brakes, o2 sensor and erg senser blown CATALIC CONVERTER BAD . this was suppose to be a gmc top of the line suv. total junk. every week somthing new. cant wait to unload-!
Never Again a GM
This was the worse vehicle I ever had in my life. To start with it had like four recalls on it. The transmission went out twice. Both times over 1500 dollars!! One time with just over 60,000 miles on it and GM would pay a penny towards it! The power brake booster also went out, that was another 500 that GM cost me. The motor that shifts the truck into four wheel drive went out too, that was another 550 that that GM touch. The fuel injector leak gas into the motor. That was another 900.00 to replace. This are just the major problems that I had with the truck. Please save your money DON'T buy GM vehicles!!!
A true lemon
Lucky me I took out extended warranty on this vehicle. Except for the transmission and front end almost this whole vehicle has been replaced. Just recently a hose disconnected leading from the oil pan to the cooler, emptying the engine oil in 45 seconds ruining the engine!!! What a poor design, and a huge repair bil. AVOID THIS VEHICLE!!!
Nice Ride Albeit Thirsty
Some rattles, the doors move in their openings, fuel efficiency is dropping fairly from 7.88 kilometers per liter when bought to 6.54 kpl today. A/C repair was costly and the compressor is still making noices. Right turn signal gets stuck. The under carriage is not protected and vital components are low.
GMS 1995 Jimmy 4x4 SUV
After our first purchase of a GMC product, we will NEVER AGAIN purchase a GMC auto. This has been the WORST auto ever for us. Many recalls on it.
I learned to drive in this thing!
The Jimmy runs and idles smoothly. When in a fender-bender, the Jimmy was driven away with nothing more than a bent exhaust pipe and a dent and scratch about three inches in diameter on its back bumper while the other vehicle was basically totaled; the owner was not able to drive away. The only real problems Ive ever had were that the microchip which controls things like the windshield wipers burns out rather easily, and the transmission recently had to be replaced completely.
Great SUV and Dependable!
This has been an excellent vehicle and I'm still driving it. It would be nice to have better fuel economy and I never liked the plastic front bumper that could never be cleaned like new. Other than that, I could not ask for more in a vehicle. I've never kept a vehicle this long but it still looks like new and runs great! When new, the transmission always had hesitation. A new one was placed in it at about 33,000 miles (under warranty) and that is what is in it today with no problems.
I got shafted
Bought this car to have 4x4 for NJ snow. Along with it I had to replace muffler, tires, engine, altinator, muffler, catalic converter, some diaphram thing for the brakes, don't even try to replace the spark plugs on this took me 2 days, waterpump, fuelpump, 4x4 switch. I think I have done enough work and replaced enough of this to build a new car. CAVEAT EMPTOR!
1995 Jimmy
I abuse this vehicle. When it dies, I will buy a new GMC to replace it. It just doesn't seem it will ever happen. I confidently drive this vehicle from coast to coast.
I like my Jimmy
It's a 4dr, 2wd, SL SUV. Bought this SUV in 96 iwth 30K on it. Now have 225K on it. Rides rough on long trips (slight frontend shimmy) and otherwise I can't say anything bad about it. In all those miles, with very few exceptions, I get in start it up and drive. Handles well in traffic, handles well on forestry service roads. Never dreamed it would last this long and still going strong.
HAPPY 1ST OWNER
As the first owner of this car & having it on the road for the past 20 years I can tell you, GMC makes a great vehicle! Sure, 7 years ago I was ready to get rid of it cause it was running badly, but I put $500 into replacing the injector lines & it came back to life like new. No one wants to spend money on car repairs but its a fact of life. Other than regular maint. , tires, exhaust, brakes & the injector spider, I've not had to spend BIG MONEY on it. I have never had a problem starting it. I reach in & turn the key & it starts every time. I did lease a Yukon & loved how quiet it was & of course all the bells & whistles but we kept the Jimmy as our "workhorse". The bodys straight, never been hit, and could use a "makeover" but It's a blessing. AND IT'S PAID FOR! Bottom line, if you get a chance to but a GMC, check it out "thoroughly" as the person you get it from may have abused it being the workhorse it was built to be, but even a Clysdale can break a leg! If you get a good one, it will last for years! If you take care of it!

Piece O Junk
The guy who sold me this junk knew what he was doing Its nothing but money money and problems they are good about posting the problems but wont respond to anything and wont put out a penny for all the mess they created what ever happened to good american cars? Will never buy again. Dont even give a second look just run the other way.
no quality in american cars
This SUV was to be my vacation play car and it only can stand up to in-town travel. 1st scare was going 75 mph in 5000 ft elevation...and car stalls. No fix...tech states this model lacks a computer chip to recalibrate info for fuel system. Traveling in the middle of summer in 100+ degrees...A/C wimps out. Intermittent problem [cannot be duplicated in town] occurs on highway after an hour in elevated heat does...when you most need it. And lastly, the big Vortex engine with 190 horsepower falls behind 4 cyliner cars while driving up hills...torque sucks!
I Like My Jimmy
I purchased this vehicle used with approx 85K miles on it in 5/01 in VG cond. Since the purchase I have replaced only normal maintanence items such as tires, brakes, muffler; which the vehicle needed when purchased anyways. Overall the vehicle has been very dependable and has needed nothing replaced other than the previous mentioned items even with 127K miles on it!
