Love my 2012 Acadia but rack & pinion is a deal br
I own a 2012 GMC Acadia. Bought it used in 2014 with 24,000 miles on it. After owning it only 2yrs & only 39,000 miles on it , it needed a new rack & pinion. We was told about recalls on the rack & pinion but it was only for Acadias 2011 & older! Repair bill was around $1300. Fast forward 2yrs later to Oct.2018 & now with 64,000 miles on it, we just got it out of the repair shop for another new rack & pinion! Just totally unacceptable. I loved this SUV with it being smooth riding, awesome acceleration pickup & room galore to haul kids & almost anything you need but the steering issue is a deal breaker! That problem is very dangerous & we won't be buying a new Acadia in the future.

HORRIBLE
Purchased my 2012 Acadia used but purchased the extended warranty. 8 months after my purchase the torque converter went out. They covered it but only replaced the torque converter. 14 months later it went out again. Warranty was out. Dealership wouldn't cover their work. GMC advisors couldn't help they advised the dealerships always told them to say no they couldn't do anything. They want to replace the transmission and said we would just have to "hope" it wouldn't go out again in 14 months. I can't afford 2,000 every 14 months to drive this car!

Way too many repairs!
In five short years of owning our Acadia we have replaced things that never went bad in other cars we owned for twice as long. We have replaced ALL of our control arms, the AC and heating systems. Many other minor issues. We have spent thousands of dollars (I stopped counting as it makes me sad). I am convinced I will not buy another Acadia.

Jeckyl and Hyde
Decent ride, a bit underpowered but MPG ok. Very comfortable and tons of room even with three kids in the back. Seats take awhile to heat up. Big problem is with carbon monoxide. This vehicle sets off alarms in our house when started in the garage ( garage door open of course). Service dept is like a human rain delay in trying to get it fixed. Fot the 55k spent on top of the line we had many other choices, cant imagine them being any worse. When not thinking about the CO it rides nice.
Lots of problems
This is my parent’s car , but I and my husband get to do whatever something breaks. First we didn’t do research before we bought this car, it had 101K miles and it was priced $15,999. After few months of driving one of the light went out which was not easy to find and replace. Now there is no air flow in the front AC/ heat vents. I read lots of similar problems about this car now. The value is certainly not worthy. I wanted to remove my name from the loan and so we tried refinancing but the bank won’t do it because we owe more than the value of the car. Total bummer, I hope GMC would do something about this issue or else counting on loosing business.
