Used 2008 GMC Acadia SLT-2 4dr SUV AWD (3.6L 6cyl 6A) Consumer Reviews
Soooo many problems
I bought this car used Dec 2010, luckily it had a certified warranty. I love it, when everything is working. The sunroof leaked & was resealed, the navagation/radio display had to be replaced, the transmission dissassembled and 17 parts replaced, parking brake switch replaced, seatbelts installed incorrectly fixed, steering gear replaced, swaybar links replaced. Now the A/C only works (sometimes) on driver's side, blows hot on passenger and rear. Over $1400 to fix (replace evaporator core). All of this in a year & a half. Seriously considering taking a loss and trading it in. I simply can't afford the constant repairs.
Terrible Mileage
Right after purchasing vehicle drove all the way to Cancun, Mexico via Baja California (5,050 miles). Good points: Comfortable ride, lots or room. Two things very bad; First: average mileage was barely 17 miles/gallon. Second: Using cruise control 6th gear only works when highway level. At the slightest incline car shifts into 5th gear hurting overal gas mileage. At altitude (Mexico City) car clearly underpowered.

Nice looking with good ride, bad quality
Initially everyone looking at this type of vehicle will love the Acadia. Nice looking vehicle with lots of amenities however I have never had a vehicle with this many issues. The roof leaked into the car and we had to take it to the dealer several times to get that fix, it needed bigger drainage tubes. The timing cover had a leak and needed replaced, the tie rod end link was replaced. Its in the shop right now because the engine sounds like a diesel with the lifters ticking like crazy and the power steering pump is loud and needs replaced. Anyone need a slightly used Acadia?
A Bit Disappointed
We traded in a Honda Pilot for the features offered by the Acadia, the primary one being the dual climate control. The particular model we purchased has basically everything, so we are very pleased with that. However, the engine performance is less than desirable and the constant shifting of the transmission, based on changes in the road, etc., especially with the cruise control on, is very annoying. It's as if the transmission and/or engine can't decide how to power the vehicle down the road. Pushing the accelerator slowly doesn't get you much. The gas mileage is high teens, averaging around 18 - not the greatest. Certainly has all the bells and whistles. A very stylish vehicle.
Worst new vehicle I have driven
As I read through the other reviews, my issues are about the same, water, electrical, engine, trans, steering, computer, etc. The worst for me is the random 'not starting' (because of the water in the fuse box, replaced 3x already). Anyway, extremely poor mileage and quality issues all over th place. NOT reliable, OVERPRICED and frankly, a dud! Meeting a GM rep next week - see what they say. My guess is not much. A company in this bad of shape should be way ahead of these problems. Too bad, I always loved GM vehicles, but this has turned me away. Do NOT buy the Acadia - all smoke and mirrors, glitz and no substance...definitely not up to to the GMC reputation!
