Very Reliable/ Great Mileage
Bought it used in 2001 and still running strong. No leaks, still cold a/c, great mileage. Wife gave it to me after she bought Ford Focus last year. Geo has been more reliable than her Focus. Getting old but couldn't let go of it so just had new paint job. Looks great. One of best cars ever owned.
Great little car
When I got this car I wasn't sure what to expect. I have been more than pleasantly surprised! Very dependable, great mileage, low maintenance, low insurance rate, and fun to drive. It now has over 192,000 miles on it. It will comfortably cruise at 75 mph with ease and as long as i keep the speed and rpm's up it maintains very good speeds even on long hills. Besides basic maintenance, I have replaced the tires once, brakes once, and alternator twice. Unfortunately, it is starting to use more oil. Otherwise, I absolutely love the little guy.
Best buy in small cars
I bought my 1995 Prism with 20K miles on it, now it has 100K miles. This is the most reliable car I've ever had. Believe it or not it still has the original brakes. The only thing I had brake was the altenator. What is Chevrolet thinking when then stop making this wonderful car after 2002.
Personal Problems
Replaced the starter once, but I am also now on my second alternator. I sure hope this is not an ongoing issue but only a problem with the first replacement. I would really like to run this thing into the ground to squeeze every penny out of it. Its sort of ironic that the only parts that fail on this car are the American onces. Engine runs perfect, but the electrical system and the interior are falling apart.
Excellent boring sedan
Had my Prizm for 8 years. In that time, apart from normal maintenance, I had the alternator replaced once, and a pully broke once. Highly reliable, economic, and completly boring.
