love it
I purchased my 1993 Taurus GL in September of 2008 from my friends grandma. The car had only 76,000 miles on it. They had a power steering line replaced before I bought it but nothing prior except oil changes. I have had to replace the rack and pinion, and the starter, but other than that its just been routine maintenance. It has the 3.8 liter engine which I love though it's sometimes difficult to work on due to size. It now has 91,000 miles on it and I still drive it on road trips and it has always done fine. It gets 21 miles to the gallon city driving!!

Good work
I really like the resuilt of buying this car. Even with 80000 miles it run really good, even the way I drive it with my foot to the ground of the foor almost all the time. The only problem is the check engine light is on only when I'm in warm weather or drove to fast. I realised it could had almost over heated, to counter act that I just look at the rpm's and try not to go over 3000 rpm. And it would be fine for hours. It's amasing how much I got to like it even more over time that I had owned it.
Sometimes Not So Good
I owned my Taurus wagon for almost 3 years having bought it used. The wipers were bad from the beginning, the alternator was a nightmare. It required frequent repair. I had always heard you either get a good one or not, I believe I was the not. However I loved being able to pile 8 kids in one car. I bought the car with 77K sold it with 105K.
My cheap 1993 GL
It's a good looking body design, the steering is responsive, with a good radius, but the transmission doesn't keep up with various paces well, and can be abrupt. It would make a great spare car. Still a good value considering what they're priced at in the used market? Poor quality brakes.
