2001 step side Regular cab Ranger XLT Toreador Red. Power steering, cruse control, remote Keyless entry. Single CD radio AM/FM bright crome wheels, 15 inch wheels 225 tires. V6 three liter engine five speed auto 3.73 rearend. 60/40 split bench seat, leather wraped steering wheel, power windows, power locks, power mirrors
Ford missed a few things...
...Like lighted power window and door lock toggles, light for interior of console between seats, power adjustable lumbar seats, headliner console with compass/temp displays. Come on Ford... there are many of us outh here who actually want and use this stuff and will pay for it - just make it available. Also, the seats are not at all comfortable. I may sell this unit just because I spend so much time in these crappy seats.

2001 Ford ranger
Brakes have been done three times (pads & rotars the last time). I was told to expect this again. Drive shaft replaced. Vehicle "pings" and I was told to use higher test gas which did not work. Gone through three sets of tires. I do not drive off road and only use vehicle for transportation with no towing or plowing. Average about 13-15 MPG. Use only Mobil One oil and filters. Change oil every 3000 miles. Dealer not very helpful to diagnos and fix problems. All they recomend is that I buy the extended warranty. I like the truck but it will cost significantly for gas and repairs over the life of the truck.
Reliable and useful
Bought the 2001 xlt with 175000 miles on it. Been driving it for 3 years no problems change the oil and go. Dependable little truck
Rollover Risk
I wouldn't recommend this vehicle-- particularly for young, inexperienced drivers--because of the high risk of rollover. My daughter (age 17), while driving on gravel, hit a loose patch of gravel and rolled the vehicle 1-1/2 times. I personally attribute the accident to: 1 - the design of the vehicle; 2 - road condition; and 3 - inexperienced driver behind the wheel
