I really didn't even want this car but had jus gotten a divorce and had to sell my Nice import. I bought the Fusion "for the time being" and ended up still owning it 4 years later! VERY pleasantly surprised by this car. I recently sold this car for above the online values and had still not encountered any problems with it. I sold it with about 130,000 miles. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Great for a first car

This is my first car and I absolutely love it. It's been reliable thus far, and has treated me as well as I have treated it. It's taken me cross country from Florida to California without breaking a sweat. I purchased the car in November of 2014 with 31K miles, and 21k miles later (at 52K), I've only done the required maintenance. No mechanical issues whatsoever. The interior is great. There are many plastic surfaces but they're nicely padded and feel good to the touch. The leather seating surfaces have held up well in the Texas heat and have no signs of fading or cracking. There are a few rattles inside the cabin, but none of these affect the overall experience in my case. The car handles very well. It's quiet on the highways, road noise is at a minimum. Turning radius is brilliant; I've never had to ask myself if the car will make a U-turn in a tight space. Brakes are very responsive and inspire confidence. The electric-assisted power steering provides sufficient feedback and is overall a great feature. This particular vehicle came equipped with blind spot monitoring, a rear-view camera built into the rearview mirror, and cross-traffic alert. They give an additional layer of protection when changing lanes, backing out of or into tight spots, and provide audible alerts. Very good system, although it has failed a couple of times in harsh weather (read: rain), although the manual does explain this can happen so I've shrugged it off. The I4 engine is good and takes you up to highway speeds in a reasonable amount of time. The 6 speed transmission does seem to struggle sometimes at low speeds. Rain-sensing wipers are a hit or miss sometimes; they'll activate when there is no moisture, or won't activate when it is raining. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this vehicle. The features offered can't be beat for the price I paid for it. I plan to keep it for at least 10 years.

I am 6' 240. Drive 1500 mile trips weekly every month. Often PA, WV, and TN interstate mountain driving. Fusion awesome road car for these long trips. Typically cruise at least 75 mph. Without cruise, going 90 before I know it. Handles great, even climbing and curvy mountain driving. Have never driven a luxury vehicle, so cannot honestly compare as far as road noise. Fusion seems very quiet to me. Have had noisy cars in past. On long trips simple solution is cotton in ears. At 80,000 miles, the worst I get on my trips is 32 mpg. Very roomy front and back. Huge trunk. Other than tires, and brakes, and religious oil changing, I've never had to put a penny into it. I am far from a techy, so its lack of all of these fancy cameras and computer screens and other such crap is only a plus to me. Best performing and most reliable road car I've driven. NOV 2016 - Now at 90,000 mi. (Job change - not as much driving) still runs great - no money on other than oil change. Bought a '16 Ford Escape (wife loves it). Doing some remodeling. Have to say, I can haul 8' long boards, trim, etc... in Fusion and still close the trunk. With the Escape, I need to leave back hatch open and tie it down. This Fusion has been an awesome vehicle. I hope they haven't managed to ruin the Fusion since 2012, because that will be my first consideration in another year or so. Finally something! At 95,000 miles driver's door hydraulic lock broke. Can open door by pulling handle and lock lever at same time. So have not had fixed. Just lock door with key like old days. Car still runs like a top! DEC 2018 - at 110,000 miles. It took a deer smashing into my rear qtr panel to finally get this vehicle in a shop. Still runs great and very reliable. Still - except for the door lock mentioned above - absolutely nothing has broken down on this car in or out. JUN 2019 - 115,000 miles. Still extremely reliable and runs great, though I can notice it is not as peppy on acceleration as it always has been. Probably should give in and get a tune-up. Still not a penny spent on anything other than oil changes, tires, and one brake job many miles ago. Rarely haul grandkids anymore, but for years that was commonplace. I say that to point out that I recently gave the interior a good cleaning (I smoke). I was impressed with how well the entire interior has remained undamaged. The seats have proven to be well built and very durable (I'm not skinny) and I have never babied the inside - often hauling lumber, etc...before we got the Escape. Had to change a few things below for this update, such as my age and mileage, but the MPG is still accurate.

Ordered the 2012 S model optioned the way I wanted and waited 10 weeks. Picked it up on 1/12/2012 In most aspects this car is outstanding. The first tank showed 27.3 mpg in mixed city/ hi-way driving. Fun to drive, great handling and braking. Fit and finish are first rate Two very minor Issues: 1. The 6 speed manual shifter is a bit clunky. No speed shifting with this baby. 2. The C pillars are a bit thick creating a slight blind spot.

I traded my 2002 Lincoln LS V8 with 189k on the clock, and I must say I've always been a Ford fan. I love my 2012 Ford Fusion SEL. Bought the car used with 49k now 54k on it. I needed something a little more fuel efficient and that's what I got. The car achieves 22+ mpg city and 29+ mpg highway. I average about 24-26 mpg in mixed driving. The car is absolutely comfortable, and is very quiet. I like to drive my family and friends around, and they've all complimented how great the car is. My favorite feature is the SYNC system. Honestly, everyone who has had issues with it need to check themselves. It's a pretty easy system to use. The 2.5L I4 has very good power, all in all a great car.

Just got the car 2 months ago, so far, impressed. Great ride, very comfortable, sunroof is a nice addition, thought like many have said, me at 6'4 has my head exceptionally close to the roof, something I have to adjust to. Also the fuel economy for the four cylinder has been disappointing, believe me I drive maybe 5 or 6 digits above the speed limit like everyone else in the world and yet I find myself getting gas every week like a did with my Dodge Durango. I don't know whats happening there, I hope I just have to break it in more and hope for the best. The power is also a bit subpar. The 12 speaker Sony sound system is absolutely amazing and I would reccomend that to everyone.

I bought a new Ford 2012 Fusion SE 4cy with Sun & Sync, spoiler, Candy Red Color and now I have almost 1100miles on it. I truly am amazed by the smooth quiet ride on this car under $25K. This is my first ever Ford, and if it's reliable, I will no longer be a Chevy/GMC girl. I am averaging 27mpg driving 60/20/20 (rural, hwy, city). Costs about 43.00/wk for me to fill up and run on. I dont drive too slow and only sometimes too fast lol. What sold me on the car was the cost of the car, the roomy and accomadating interior, the smooth and quiet ride, fuel economy, and all the tech features. I now can leave my Iphone in my purse as it's all handsfree (music, calls, info)

My wife wanted a car with a sunroof. We found this car used with 3000 miles a few months ago. Heated leather seats, Sony sound system, sunroof and appearance package. What a great, comfortable car and fun to drive. We have the 3.0 V6 but it is not AWD and that option is not shown on the list. We love the car and the mileage. we typically get 22 around town, but have been up to 30 to 31 on the highway. not bad for a V6

I purchased my Fusion Hybrid as a Certified Used from Ford. It has meet or exceeded all expectations. I commute 35 miles one way to work; I have averaged 41 mpg since I started driving the Ford. It rides well, the SYNC system is handy, and climate control works well. My car has blind spot monitors that come in handy; the body style limits some visibility.

So this is a very early review as I only just purchased the veheicle a few days ago. No oter reviews for this year so I figured I'd at least get the ball rolling. I purchased the car based on two very positive rental experiences. The interior has very good build quality. Soft touch dash and very comfy seats can be expected. The interior quality is much better than Camry and at least as good or better than Accord. The ride is VERY quiet. The quietest car I've ever owned and one of quitest cars I've ever rode in, seriously! Engine is still breaking in so mileage has been about 27-29mpg in mixed rural driving. My rental with 20,000 miles got 35-37mpg on the highway and 29mpg in Yosemite!

Overall I really like the car but there's something about the transmission that sporadically acts up within first 5 minutes of driving it, where it doesn't seem to know what gear it needs to be in and thus causes tach to jump around. Then it goes away. Usually always just a slow speeds..

I've had my 2012 Ford Fusion SEL with the 4 cylinder engine, FWD, & 6 speed automatic transmission for one year. I average 25-26 MPG city and 34 MPG highway. I have all of the options except the NAV, but I have a Garmin. I previously had a 2008 Lincoln MKZ and, aside from the motor, it is the same car which is why I bought it. The 4 cylinder is certainly not as peppy as the V6, but it pays you back at the pump as the Lincoln averaged 19 MPG in town. Also, if you don't mind the Blue Oval instead of the Lincoln badge, there is an over $9000 price difference.

This is my forth car. And i really enjoyed driving the car. With maximum power, comfort and reliability and falling in love with my car. The stereo system is superb. The build quality is appreciable. I've reached 0-120kmph in under 12s which is very good from my point of view. The ambient lighting gives me a fresh look inside the compartment. I drove around 1000 kms a day once, which i couldn't feel any tiredness. Microsoft SYNC is also a good feature in which i can call, change music while am driving.

I purchased a brand new 2012 Ford Fusion V6 3.0L, on January 7th 2012. In the first 30 days, My engine starts ticking once it warms up, the radiator fan squeels when you turn off the engine and the back passenger window would take a long time to roll back up. I took it into the local Ford dealership and they told me I needed a new radiator fan, a new motor for the power window and that the factory installed the wrong lifters in my engine and they would need to replace them. (They called Ford Technical Advisors) I was a little concerned with the assessment but told them to go ahead and fix the issues. The next day they called and said I also needed a new engine.

I live in a state that requires a yearly inspection to renew my tag. Every year I have to spray WD 40 and clean and clean and clean out the no gas cap area to get the service engine light to turn off so it can pass inspection. It was a useless idea of Ford to design a gas tank with no gas cap! For what purpose? All kinds of dirt n crap can get in the gas tank! This year I had to buy a gas tank plug with a key and the service engine light went off and it passed inspection. One week later the service engine light reappeared. I am good til next year but what will I do then??? Its a 2012 Ford Fusion SE other than that I love the car. But Ford needs to own up to their mistake and recall and fix it for free!!!!

Bought it brand new in May 2012. Was great for a month, comfortable, great on gas, roomy and a great sound system. Then while on an 8 hour road trip I got a warning light "Advancetrac failure, Check ABS". Got home got it serviced and Ford couldnt find anything. They told me not to worry about it. A week later it went again. They kept the car for a couple of days, said it was fixed. A month later it went again, they kept the car for 2 weeks, told me it was fixed. Then one day my car just wouldnt start! Got it jumped and no warning lights for 2 months! But now last week the warning lights came back on AGAIN! And Ford wont do anything other then tell me to bring it again. Not impressed

We have 2 Toyotas and this Ford Fusion. Of all the cars, this one is the most comfortable to drive and ride in. It has been very reliable; only one issue in 5 years; a very slight leak of coolant from the water pump, which was replaced. We enjoy its handsome design, good sized trunk, and for the basic model we chose, it is quite loaded! The Ford Dealership has been very customer friendly, and we look forward to another 15 years of ownership!

I replaced my aging and heavy Chrysler Pacifica with this Fusion, knowing that it shares its engine and platform with the Mazda 6. Hondas and Toyotas are too expensive to buy used, so this was a good option. I drive about 35,000 miles a year so brand new is out. The four cylinder is suprisingly powerful and smooth; won't win any drag races but the six-speed seems to find the right gear to suit the situation. Seats are a little hard on the bottom cushion but supportive. The interior has a little too much black plastic but fits together well, and all controls have a nice soild tactile feel to them. Leather seems to be of the "harder" variety which means it should be durable as well.

The overseas market is going to lose its edge if the American car manufacturers keep building models like these. I trade a bad Japanese model for this one and made my life much better. The Fusion has power, great handling, comfort, and a great sound system. Very pleasing to drive all around car. The only downside is the ridiculous headrest system which does not work well and failed and the passenger side. I would see replacing these headrests over time if frequent adjustment is required.

I purchased this car a few weeks ago as a commuter car, although it is larger than I wanted but I got a great price, way below MSRP. I've been driving it to work every day and I've avg 32 mpg in 50% traffic, that is AWESOME for a car of this size. The satellite radio is great and the sound quality is awesome. My ride to work is a dream, I really enjoy driving this car to - everywhere and my other car is a JAGUAR!

I got my 2012 Ford Fusion almost exactly three years ago (end of January 2012). The last time I purchased a car before the Ford was a 2005 Honda Civic. I bought the Civic for affordability but I was never really that into it. I love my Fusion. The best thing about it is the pickup. That's something that you notice when you're coming from a Civic. The Fusion has 175 hp minimum (depending on your model) and so it's easy to get up to speed when getting on the highway. My car is FWD but it handles okay in the snow. It's bigger and sturdier than my Civic so it doesn't slide around the road as much every time the wind blows. The "L" gear has also come in handy for getting out of snow banks.

Buyers beware. Around 75k miles, the car started shifting hard going into the 3rd and 4th gears. I have verified that other owners are experiencing this problem as well. The performance is nothing special for the V6 model, and it only averages about 26 mpg highway. I have also had to deal with 3 safety recalls within the first 5 years of purchase. The car is good when it comes to the interior and comfort. The ride is smooth, steering wheel controls are convenient, and plenty of trunk space.

I bought this car brand new in May 2012, my 2004 Chevrolet Impala was starting to show its age and was starting to rust out even though it was garage kept and had 62,000 miles I wanted something that I could take on road trips and still be comfortable. Although I don't drive it much since I retired 2 weeks after I bought it, (as of 7-11-2016 it has 3,720 miles.) It has been a very nice car, very reliable, after sitting for a long period of time it starts right up, the Sony sound system beats my old Impala by far, and it returns a good 32 miles to the gallon on 87 octane doing 65 MPH with the Cruise Control engaged. The only 2 things I will complain about is how it goes through 1st, 2nd, and into 3rd gears before you reach 20 MPH, that's a lot of shifting right off the line for an automatic if you ask me. Also the leather seats are a bit hard after a long period of time, but the heated seats are very nice. Plenty of trunk space, rear leg room is plenty, and the overall quality is wonderful. It was a $30,000.00 car new and it seems to be holding it's value well for now. I can say overall it's a nice car, I'm very pleased with it. It's also very easy to service, I'm 72 years old and I still get underneath to change the oil myself, I don't care for the splash guards covering the oil filter and drain plug, but once those are off its very easy to do and Ford even has it to where you can pre-fill the oil filter before you install it (which is a good thing to do to prevemy a dry start.) I run Pennzoil Ultra-Platinum 5W20 with a Purolator Synthetic oil filter. Servicing most things seem perfectly simple to service (Oil Changes, Tune-Ups, Air Filter, etc.) If you're a do-it-yourself person, this is a good car for you, mine has the 2.5L Inline 4-Cylinder. I also prefer the 2010-12 facelifted bodystyle over the current style, but that's my reveiw, I feel that I've covered everything.

My priority with this latest vehicle purchase was comfort. I've always driven fairly sporty cars (Ford Probe GT, SVT Focus, Lexus IS300), and this time around I wanted a quiet vehicle that wasn't a complete slug. I'd rented a Fusion in FL last year and was favorably impressed. So when a typical idiot MI driver rear-ended and totaled the Lexus a few weeks ago, I looked into a used 2012 Fusion and got everything except Nav & AWD, neither of which I need. It's comfortable, quiet and the V6 has plenty of power. I was even surprised by the fuel economy: 26+ city, 33+ why. Now if I want to go tear about the countryside, I jump in the Miata.

I had a 2006 Fusion V6 before I bought this one. The difference between the two vehicles are amazing. The 2012 Sel rides very smooth and I love all the bells & whistles that come with it. The only problem that I really have with the car is that it is very difficult to see what's behind you when you are backing up because your view is limited. It has the certain distinctive problems that other owners are saying on line as far as the noisy blower and the check engine light coming on because of the dirt getting into the opening because there is no gas cap. Both are simple fixes. The gas mileage is excellent.

Owned one and loved it. I owned a ford fusion unfortunately someone ran a stop sign going about 45 MPH and t-boned me. The amount of impact this vehicle took is incredible. It didn't roll just spun around. Side airbag deployed as it should and as a result I'm alive today.

This was my first American car. Always drove Hondas. I was in a car accident couple weeks ago and I'm indebted to my Fusion. All the airbags deployed, every inch of the car was smashed in and the Fusion I had grown to love was a total loss, but I walked away with minor bruises. The car drove very well for the four years I owned it. My only complaint is cosmetic. I wish the seats were made of something more stain-proof. With kids, after a couple years, the interior started looking a little crummy. I'm ready for my next Ford though!

LOVE THIS CAR

I purchased my 2012 Ford Fusion Sport about a year and a half ago, used with about 28,000 miles on it. I have not had any issues with it. I love the security features, leather seats, navigation system, and the voice recognition. The only thing I have had to purchase for it is tires due to driving through construction sights frequently. The only negative I see is the amount of gas it uses. I was never a fan of Ford cars due to some past issues with Fords. I can honestly say that Ford got it right this time with the Fusion. I would recommend this car and would purchase another one when I am in the market again.

I like the car for the most part. The car rides nice and smooth. Controls are well placed and with Sync update plays phone apps well. It's not going to beat many other cars off the line thought, but still has enough "get up and go" to get you in to highway traffic safely and once cruising has enough pep to pass..

This is a perfectly sized and appointed sedan with good handling and a quiet, smooth ride. I bought it new based on those features, its looks, and its 5 crash test ratings. I owned it for 7 years, 58K miles, and only needed maintenance LOF, transmission flush, cabin air filter, and tires. Sadly, I lost it to a collision but it held its value well. The only downside was that I never got better than 20 mpg city, 27 mpg on the freeway.

Great basic car with decent acceleration for a 4-cylinder in a mid-size car. I have only owned it a few weeks and it has 83K miles, but it seems to be in good shape and solid. One year update: the car has been trouble free. Still happy with it!

I went to the car lot to look at a Mustang, as it was gone. The sales person showed me a 2008 an a 2012 fusion, I went home slept on it decided to get the 2012 sle an I'm so glad I did, I have never in my life had a family car as I am a single father with two beautiful daughters. So I'm glad I did the fuel milage is awesome oh highway pretty good city, but the performance is awesome for a V6 family car, the car rides great plenty of room front an back an in the trunk. It drives great Handel's great no road noise. Oh I forgot to mention I bought this car used with over 113000. Still the care is great but one thing, in the morning when I start the car, the starter makes a noise after it starts but afterm it warms up it doesn't do it. Other than that I'd give the car 10 stars. What helps my daughters love the car, an when I need the power it's there, 3.0 v6 fwd.

This is probably the best car I have ever owned, and I have had everything from Cadillacs to VWs. In over three years it has given me absolutely NO problems! It is very comfortable and gives me a good ride every time, city or highway. I plan to get another one ASAP. The only slight disappointment is the resale value (it should be better)..

I've driven a Grand Prix GT for 6 years and realized it was getting tired. I looked at a new Kia Optima SX and Regal GS. I happened to try a Fusion Sport and thought it was great. It's one of those experiences that grows as you continue to drive. I do miss the supercharger of the Pontiac, but the 3.5 really comes into its own the more you drive it. Besides no premium fuel required! So glad I didn't go the KIA route. I was looking for another 6 year vehicle and think I found one in this. The KIA had some nice bells and whistles but don't think it will stand the test of time after driving it a couple of times

I am a student and I got my 2012 Ford Fusion from a dealer in Michigan. It was already 120k miles driven in 4.5 years but the car was in good shape as it was regularly serviced. I had zero hopes on the car. To my surprise, it had zero repairs till 140k miles which was after a year of my purchase. Highly reliable and great resale value.

My first Ford Fusion was a 2006 SEL V6, which I got in the summer of '09 with 60k miles. Let me say, it had an amazing ride, sound system, nice leather and decent fuel economy. I did not have one problem with it at all until 108k miles when it died in the middle of rush hour. Engine coils went out, causing many other things to go wrong. Short story, traded out. Got 5 grand for it (amazing because of the body work it needed from an accident i didn't fix and 2600 worth of engine repairs). Traded for a 2012 SE V6 with the Sun & Sync package and Monochrome appearance package. Amazing drive feel and ride. Very satisfied so far. I do miss my 06 though, it had leather and a much better audio system

I was hesitant to purchase an American car, but I have been pleasantly surprised at how reliable this car has been. 68000 miles and no major problems, I keep up with regular maintenance. The car took a beating when an intoxicated driver did a hit and run on it, $7000 in damages to the front but fortunately it was repaired. Two complaints: first, the transmission at lower speeds when the car first starts is very "jumpy" after a mile or two of driving, this goes away and the transmission is then very smooth. Second, the headlights are terrible! They don't illuminate much more than 10 feet in front of the car. Other than these two caveats, I highly recommend this car.

Heart breaking to see it go and even harder to find something to compare. ( I averaged 22 mpg and I drove mostly city took a good highway trip and it averaged 27mpg )

I went searching for a car in April 2019 and I found my blue 2012 Ford Fusion SE 2.5L at the car lot. There are a number of features my car has that I feel really makes it more complete and a lot more enjoyable to drive than most of the other cars I've ever driven. Features mine has are: 18" factory aluminum wheels, telescoping tilt steering, 6-speed select shift, rear spoiler, sunroof/moonroof, folding rear seats, fuel efficiency, smooth suspension, great stability and handling, braking, self-contained power steering, auto-darkening rear view mirror, reliability, easily maintained, and Microsoft SYNC. This car has proven itself to be a very reliable car and a very enjoyable car. Personally, I think a lot of cars should have the features mine has. I bought mine in April of last year with just over 125,000 MI and it now says with just a little under $146,700 MI. The brake system and the steering in mind have always been and still remain extremely responsive. If you're not used to a vehicle that has extremely responsive steering and brakes, it will take some getting used to. If I have to list anything that I don't like about it, it would be that it comes with only a space saver spare tire and that when using that tire, it has a tendency to trigger the anti-lock braking system without being on the brakes. That is my only complaint about the car. With that warning about the spare tire and the antilock, I still fully recommend purchasing one of these cars. I love mine and would happily make the same choice over again. I really like the fact that mine also has the rear spoiler on it as I feel that that actually helps to complete the car.

I just purchased a 2012 Ford Fusion that sat in an impound yard for 4+ years. A rat ate through some wires causing a cylinder 3 misfire, but she ran anyway when the staff cut a new key and jump-started it! I drove it this way to a repair shop 60 miles away and had it fixed. She runs like a top again with ZERO other problems. Nice ride.

Great Car Great Experience

I bought this car new over six years ago and my overall experience has been fantastic. I hope to keep the car for at least another six years. Car cost $25K new and has good interior quality for that price point. The ride is comfortable and the handling is responsive. Maintenance has been minimal and the only repair so far has been due to mice chewing some wires (can't blame Ford for that). The mileage is approaching 100K and I think the rear struts are going bad because there is a rattling and an unusually stiff ride but I haven't yet had it checked out. My only real gripe with the car is that the "Sync" entertainment system that is supposed to interact with your phone doesn't work with my iPhone (or any of my Apple devices) for anything other than Bluetooth when the system was designed by Microsoft to do much more. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and could only hope that all of my car purchases work out as well as the Fusion has so far.

I bought this car new in 2012. I now have 316000 miles on the car and it's still going strong. The only thing I have done to the car is change the oil every ten thousand miles and replace the tires and battery. Everything else from plugs to even brake pads, yes I said brake pads, is original. No tune up and I still average 30 miles a gallon.

I am getting very tired of the high pitched whistling sound that I have been told is from the fuel pump. I have complained about this but the dealership says its normal for a fusion. Additionally, at 1500 rpms, it makes what I would describe as the sound of a small motor boat. This sound is most notable while turning the car or on non-level ground. The dealership and my husband both say, this is normal. Also, there have been issues with the gas cap housing and filler pipe that have had to be fixed.

Purchased a 2012 Fusion SEL V6 about a month ago so far not impressed with the reliability, has been to the dealer twice for two different problems in two thousand miles. Transmission had to be flashed because the transmission had very hard shifts, now the EGR valve is not working correctly causing the car to shutter and Ford does not know how to fix it. This has been the first Ford i've ever owed I wish I would have looked at other manufacture's I picked this car for the high marks consumer reports gave it.

Bought the 2012 Ford Fusion SEL FWD 3.0L V6 certified pre-owned, have been driving it a little over a month now. Previous vehicle was a '98 Dakota pickup, so yes lol, quite a difference. I love the driving experience.....handles great, nice acceleration when the higher revs achieved, especially using the manual automatic mode. Comfortable, quiet, pleasant leather interior, enjoyable sound system. I look forward to driving it each day. A few complaints, for no vehicle is perfect. The transmission can shift awkwardly at times, especially in mid-RPMs. Rear visibility takes getting used to, and windshield rear-view mirror gets in the way when looking right. Glad i got the car......
