Used 2010 Ford Fusion SEL 4dr Sedan AWD (3.0L 6cyl 6A) Consumer Reviews
Not happy
I purchased my 2010 fusion 3/2010. I really liked the car I never really own anything else other than a Ford. And after having this fusion am not sure if there is another Ford that I would like to own @ this time. I am having the same problems as for so many other 2010 Ford fusion owners. I wish I was for warned about the major transmission problems that is going on with the fusion. I have had to take my car back several times for the same thing. And needless to say my car is in the shop for a new transmission. This is so discouraging especially when a car note becomes due. Since my loan is threw Ford motor is there anyway to stop payments if you don't have the car?
Ford totally disappoints me
6-speed automatic failed with 14,000 miles. Ford would not "replace" the transmission - just took two weeks to gut the offending transmission, and now it is loud and makes me doubt the car. Not where we want to be. I feel that the car is a safety hazard in the Washington, DC metro area traffic.
Road warrior
This has been a reliable car. I live in the mountains in southern California and have snow twice a year. This is my wife's car, so problems are taken to me when it is too late. I work as a ship engine mechanic for the OEM for 25 years so I have seen some big failures and obscure problems. Problems encountered were mainly the result of taking a common frame platform and adapting 4 different engine weights and horsepowers, adding AWD, using torsional electronic steering. Now the problems I've had are broken motor mounts (3.0L engine and AWD (more torque in the same frame) this caused the power steering to fail (motor torqued on broken motor mounts), Transmission failed at 90000 miles (probably from the broken motor mounts). The shop in town showed the broken motor mounts when the power steering went out. I am sure the transmission fail which was gradual (was able to drive it in) was due to torsional twist in alignment of transmission and driveline. American equipment is still precision I have been repairing engines of 2000 to 15000 hp for 30 years and understanding the value of maintenance and catching things early, if I were driving occasionally would have have picked up on the steering drag. My wife brought the car home from a long trip with the engine shutting down for overheat (loo radiator fluid) the shut down worked twice with no damage to the car. This is a good design and has shutdowns we used to only see in Mercedes and Cadillac and my multimillion dollar engines. The interior door handles broke one by a drug addict getting in and out, the driver door handle by her relative, assuming hard use here. Replaced power twice under warranty at Ford, then found the motor mounts, paid for that (phenolic plastic) (plastic has its place these used to be hardened rubber).Transmission replaced on me by Ford, hard to find the AWD transmission from others. Ford guys farmed out the work to another shop (maybe another Ford) this took 1 month cost $5000 (maybe fair I remember car work from the early 1970s). Since all this we put on 40000 miles in the mountains and long trips into Mexico (Mexico City). Ford design is family car so the ride is comfortable the engine is reliable and the AWD works and is adequate for 3 inches of snow. Mileage 19-20 in mountains and sometimes 30 on the highway. A good car overall. Like any piece of machinery you have to know its flaws and prepare ahead of time like changing tires and fluids.
Great look/ Nice Car
Good acceleration, comfortable and mostly reliable. Fuel economy is great compared to older models. A great looking car, very sporty and the paint is excellent. Most problems with this model are electronics. Drivers heated seat went out at 65,000 miles. expensive repair ($600) unless you do the labor. Moon roof broke, will not open and when it does, it sticks open. needs repair. Center brake light went out and the entire assembly had to be replaced. At 73,000 miles the right rear window opens and will not close, randomly. I love this Fusion with exception of those problems. Hope the newer models are improved. This SEL is not AWD and has a 6 Cyl. There was no option for this without the AWD.

Fun & Reliable car that looks great!
I have had my fusion for 3 years. It has been super reliable. It is fun to drive and fast also. I have gotten a lot of compliments on the look of the car as well. The only thing I have had to replace is the battery. Besides that I change the oil and just put a new set of tires on it. Great car if you take care of it. To address a majority of the negative reviews, if you don't change the fluids at regular intervals and dog the crap out of it, of course its going to break down, just like any other car would. Thanks.
