Used 2014 Ford Focus Consumer Reviews
Quality is Evidently NOT Job One
I actually purchased two Ford Focuses (or is that Foci ;) - one in 2012 and another (Ford Focus Titanium) in 2014. At first, I was impressed with the advanced technology, modern styling and excellent fuel economy. However, over time, mechanic issues developed with both cars. For both cars, the transmission was faulty and we had to bring them in to the dealer a couple of times for a "fix". With our newer car, the radiator spontaneously failed after only 3 years while driving down the highway to visit my granddaughter's 1st birthday. This left us stranded and we had to stay in a hotel overnight. Plus it cost us $800 to repair and we nearly missed the party. There were other more minor issues as well such as the window trim frequently falling down or leaks around the sun roof. I was really hoping that Ford had gotten its act together and that I could proudly buy American once again but this experience has left me skeptical. I will not be buying a Ford again anytime soon.

Clunker
But this car new clutch going out before I make the first payment for told me that they were going to eventually make a better clutch that they would guarantee to fix it will absolutely not do a buyback or not do right by the car, Now on for clutches and 89,000 miles trade-in value is only $5000 and I owe 6100 no more repairs on the clutch after 100,000 miles and I’m getting really close so I’m upside down in the car and still paying on it for it is a joke they mess me around through this whole ordeal should’ve been the lemon law but they danced around that you should’ve sued them along time ago I would never buy another Ford as long as I live I’m so upset that I’ll probably call them tomorrow to complain about it some more Don’t care about their customers only care about their deep pockets

192,000 miles and still kicking
This has been the perfect car for my driving habits. 80-90% highway miles. The dual clutch transmission took some getting used to, but has held up nicely; albeit mostly highway miles. Engine runs like a champ. The car averages ~38 mpg on the highway and 36 in the city. Mpg is less in the winter, ~3-5 mpg. My biggest complaint is that the radio went out after 5 years; sounds like a common problem from focus forums. I removed the rear seat head rests because the hinder my vision out the back window. The car cabin can be a bit noisy at highway speeds, and watch out when/if you lower your windows while driving as you can cause some pretty deafening air turbulence inside the cabin. Overall I am very pleased with the vehicle and aiming for 250,000 miles.

Would be a great little car if not for...
The Ford Focus is a fun little car. It has good acceleration, handles well, and gets good gas mileage. HOWEVER, the automatic transmission is just awful. The transmission started slipping around 10,000 miles. It has never worked right since. The computer assisted clutch has been replaced once. It improved the situation for a couple of weeks. It is a dangerous car to drive. When I accelerate or pull out into traffic I never know whether the transmission will engage. I might have great acceleration or I might have the car slip into neutral. The first trip to the dealer resulted in them replacing the clutch after two trips, a rental car, and a lot of waiting around. The second time I took it in the car sat in the lot for three or four days and they never even looked at it. The mechanics said there were so many transmission problems they couldn't keep up. Management said there was nothing wrong with the transmissions. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD!
