Catastrophic Clutch!

The Ford Focus transmission is a MAJOR problem which Ford is repairing an unprecedented number of times, at astronomical rates! Unfortunately, I did not know this about the new Focus'. I had a Focus which I loved driving, parking in small places, and was extremely roomy for a hatchback; everyone commented on that when they rode in it. Because I was pleased and I had other friends, family who owned a Ford. I felt confident purchasing another one. Boy was I wrong!!! This is the worst, most expensive, unreliable car I have ever owned. And, considering on how Ford handles the repairs, will definitely be my last! Buyer beware, the transmission is a very costly repair and if you buy a Ford Focus you will REGULARLY have to replace it! Very disappointed in my purchase.

Literally the worst car I've ever had. Stay away

Transmission is so faulty. Car has ZERO get up and go, and often times it shutters upon acceleration. I've had this car since 2015 and have taken it in 10 times for the same exact thing. PLUS my warranty has been extended multiple times. Nothing good about this car is worth the hassle of the transmission and acceleration issues. Ford should have reimbursed everyone they sold it to, thank go they're done making sedans.

I had my Focus for 2 years. It began to shudder and shake when I accelerated about 1 year in. I have had so many other problems with it and I never wanted to drive anywhere because of it!

But this car new clutch going out before I make the first payment for told me that they were going to eventually make a better clutch that they would guarantee to fix it will absolutely not do a buyback or not do right by the car, Now on for clutches and 89,000 miles trade-in value is only $5000 and I owe 6100 no more repairs on the clutch after 100,000 miles and I’m getting really close so I’m upside down in the car and still paying on it for it is a joke they mess me around through this whole ordeal should’ve been the lemon law but they danced around that you should’ve sued them along time ago I would never buy another Ford as long as I live I’m so upset that I’ll probably call them tomorrow to complain about it some more Don’t care about their customers only care about their deep pockets

192,000 miles and still kicking

This has been the perfect car for my driving habits. 80-90% highway miles. The dual clutch transmission took some getting used to, but has held up nicely; albeit mostly highway miles. Engine runs like a champ. The car averages ~38 mpg on the highway and 36 in the city. Mpg is less in the winter, ~3-5 mpg. My biggest complaint is that the radio went out after 5 years; sounds like a common problem from focus forums. I removed the rear seat head rests because the hinder my vision out the back window. The car cabin can be a bit noisy at highway speeds, and watch out when/if you lower your windows while driving as you can cause some pretty deafening air turbulence inside the cabin. Overall I am very pleased with the vehicle and aiming for 250,000 miles.
