Wow, extremely surprised after a few months.
I have always loved the sporty look of the Focus ST but never thought of owning one, I had owned 5 litre Mustangs in the past, now my kids are driving lol… After doing some research I decided to look into purchasing one and found a 2016 ST 3 with only 25,000 for just under $20,000. Since November 2021, some three months later it’s won me over. What a blast to drive, quick, responsive, solid on dry and ice covered roads-with winter tires of course. Great to drive as a daily, and when you want to drop the hammer, it’s all there. Thinking of purchasing an RS but maybe in the summer. This Focus ST 3, the package I have is extremely comfortable, great touch screen, Navi, heated seats, wheel ect is very well equipped for the cold winters here in Ontario, Canada. Mirrors, views, no blind spots, very clean driving experience. Safe and confident. Can’t wait till the warm weather arrives to drive it then. Great bang for you buck if your looking for a hatchback, being a previous Toyota Matrix owner-not even close!!! Beware if your on a fuel budget though, she sucks the high end fuel - high octane only - if you drive it hard, some 300-350 km to a full tank at $70.00 to fill up 40 litres, I get close to 500 km on a full tank on long highway drives, but I don’t use it as my primary vehicle. Turbo, sport technology guages, beautifully laid out interior, one can see that all of the best Ford engineers from Europe and North America have come together to produce a truly unique small sports car that appears far more expensive then it’s light suggested price tag.. Kudos Ford, you keep getting better!!! Happy Driving Greg

It’s Not Perfect
I bought it used, a Ford Focus ST 2017 with 24k miles on it. The only aftermarket mod it had was a weird cold air intake that stick out through the cowl area. I noticed that every time it rained the car would stalled when engaged in gear or just sitting in neutral. I suspected it was the intake, we change it for an injen cold air intake and change the oil. After a couple months the car’s engine blew up while driving normally not even on a wide open throttle pull, to be specific it made a hole in the block. Engine was replace under warranty and now the car it’s been working fine, and hopefully it’ll stay like that. Maybe the previous owner had a tune on it or didn’t maintain it well or maybe both. This definitely has make me distrustful of the focus st platform. Most people I know from this community recommends the fiesta st instead of the focus st so that says a lot, but at the same time I know focus st owners who never had an engine related issue. Anyway for now I will continue the ownership but I will probably never own another Ford vehicle. On the positive side, this car handles great, it’s definitely a vehicle you will enjoy driving. The factory suspension setup is between stiff and yet comfortable. Fuel economy it’s relatively good but not amazing. Boost comes on really strong early, will probably make it big turbo and replace the internals with forged ones just to play it safe. It has such a big aftermarket support for mods that you’re constantly gonna find yourself shopping for stuff you didn’t even had plans to buy. I think if you’re on a budget it’s a great entry level sporty hatchback, but if money is not an issue go for Civic Type R or Golf R or just wait for that new Corolla GR. I hope this help future buyers considering to buy a focus st.

Little kick butt hatch!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7NCe3ybRQM Have it set up just the way i like it. Drive it 80 miles a day . It rocks. Bought it at 34 thousand miles...up to 75k now...no issues. Rear seat delete and removal of spare tire added even more spunk. Carbon fiber hood soon to be installed. Car tracks incredibly well, tires are wearing nice and even. This is not the Focus of yesterday.. Thanks Raj wherever you are.111000 on it now and love this thing . It is a sport driver that I jump into any time I get bored. I’m taking good care of it , cause these babies are gonna be rare.

Go fast now.
I owned a '15 Focus ST for 3 days before I ended up returning it to the dealer. The return was not because of the model, but because of the dealer. I bought it used and upon having a little time in the car, I noticed that it was not as advertised. The dealer's initial response was to be very hands off, and so I exercised my option to return. All that being said, the FoST is FaST, feels glued, and loves to run. Not even much of a step down from my Tdi in terms of interior. Only thing I can really knock the car itself for is the way that the fuel gauge is constantly and quickly dropping... which in the end may say more about my priorities in a car than the ST. In the end I got myself into a FiST and a big old grin.

Positive Early Review Base ST
Update: Still good, even better. Nothing to detract after 16 months and 15,000 miles. Well thought out and with ample performance characteristics, especially its torque power. Accessible power and great road manners going up and down mountain curves. Sure-footed. As other drivers comment, there is pronounced torque steer per FWD acceleration; I knew that before purchase and I accept it. I am an experienced manual driver, more than 40 years on many clutches, and it took me about 3,000 miles to master this one. I agree with several pro reviewers that the stock ST is near the edge of daily driver and is almost a performance/weekend car. I like that. This is the first car I've owned that I have not allowed friends and family to try out. The car is very pleasing and competent. I had the common CEL warning, dealer reset and it has not come back. I suspect the car is sensitive to non "top tier" fuel. A second brief CEL after running 91 octane budget gas. Retank with Shell and light disappeared. Car has required no additional service other than oil changes. Brakes and tires wear evenly - a good sign - and still good. Recommended car.
