Replaced a 2007 Ranger

Amazing that a 385 horsepower V8 in the F150 gets the same gas mileage as the V6 in my 2007 Ranger did. I love this truck, no complaints other than weak headlights. Great deal, sticker was $46,800, paid $11,800 less. Update: Now after 2 years and 25,000 miles still love my F150. Have had no problems or issues with it. After several long road trips have found the seats to be very comfortable, AC more than adequate for 100F days. Getting 21 MPG on long trips, 17 mpg on my 23 mile commute to work. Have bought a 24' travel trailer, about 6,000 lbs. loaded. Pulls it easily, gas mileage drops to about 11 mpg, however. After 32,000 miles now, still going strong with no problems, just needing regular oil changes. Due to Covid no commute in over a year so still only has 37,500 miles, going strong. No complaints, did put on new tires, Firestone Destination XT, much better offroad and snow than the OEM Goodyears. UPDATE: After 6 years there is still a lot to like about my truck. The only problem has been a frozen door latch when it got down to 14F, and a recall fixed that. The original brake pads are still not worn out, and with the 5.0 V8 I get 16-18 mpg around town, 21 on the highway. Pulling our 25’ trailer it’s 11, still a range of 396 miles with the 36 gallon tank. Having done many trips I find the seats to be very comfortable, the ride smooth and quiet. The “type” was not listed, it’s actually a SuperCab XLT V8 5.0, 4X4 with 6.5’ bed.

New 10-Speed (Schwinn :) Transmission

After 18,000 miles of ownership I am very impressed with my new F-150 XLT Supercrew 4x4. It has the new 3.5L Ecoboost engine and 10 speed automatic transmission (the tool only lets me enter the review under 6 speed) with 3.55 gears. After 7 years of trouble-free ownership, I traded in my 2009 F-150 4x4 with the 6-speed trans, 4.6L 3V (V8) engine, and 3.55 gears for this truck. The powertrain is what makes the 2017 truly shine. Power feels endless and the truck is deceptively fast. The 10 speed shifts far smoother than my old 6 speed. It always seems to be in the perfect gear, and shifts are quick. I have not experienced any gear hunting or hesitation while shifting. Towing my 4,500 lb. boat is no problem at all. The truck doesn't seem to strain at all even while accelerating up long hills at 70+ mph. Acceleration feels effortless, and the engine is so quiet it is easy to find myself speeding. The Sync 3 system is a huge upgrade over MyFord Touch, and it is really intuitive. Overall the truck is beautiful and fuel economy has improved as the engine has broken in. I average over 19mpg in mostly city driving and plenty of idling during the cold winter starts (I always disable the auto stop/start feature). I have gotten 23 mpg during highway trips. The cab is huge, backseat is comfortable for adults, and plenty of storage. I do have two critiques. The front seats are a little firmer and less comfortable than the seats in my 2009 F-150. They are power with lumbar and are certainly comfortable, but the seats in the 2009 seemed to hit all the right spots and fit like a glove. The other critique is the ride can be a little jittery on rough roads when unloaded. It is still an acceptable ride quality, but I wish Ford would offer a soft ride option for those who don't need to tow 12,000 pounds (I will never tow more than 7,000). It actually rides much better with a few hundred pounds in the bed. I am confident this truck will hold up just as well as my last F-150 with years of trouble free performance. Great job Ford! **Update** 3 years and 36,000 miles later I still love this truck. The combination of performance and efficiency is unmatched by the competition. I was sold by the innovation (twin turbo engine, aluminum body, and 10 speed auto) but I didn't realize how much performance this truck offered until owning it. I have driven cross country for a vacation with 5 adults and a dog (plus all our stuff in the bed) getting 23 mpg, hauled construction debris to the dump, and pulled my boat to the lake all with ease. Love the comfort, handling, and power of this truck it does everything well. It has been back for service a few times (under warranty) frozen door latch issue, and warped dash. The factory tires from Hankook needed replacement after less than 30k miles due to terrible lack of traction in snow and ice (lots of tread left, just no grip). I went with Continental Terrain Contact and love them (+1 size from stock). I struggled to update sync and the nav system (opportunities for improvement here Ford) but eventually figured it out and still believe this is the best truck on the market. My friends have similar trucks from Chevy and Dodge, they are nice but no match for the Ford. I have convinced 3 other friends to buy F-150's and they all love them. If you are considering this vehicle, you wont be disappointed. Update: I now have 55,000 miles on the truck and still love it. Only regular maintenance has been required with zero repairs. I have upgraded the interior to Katzkin leather and really like it. When the time comes I would replace this truck with a new F-150. Update: at 65,000 miles I am still loving this truck. It has held up well with zero corrosion on the body and no mechanical failures to date. I have heard of others having trouble with the 10-speed transmission, but mine has been perfect. Absolutely love it for towing. Looking at the price of a new replacement, I think this truck was a bargain. I plan to keep it for several more years. Final Update at 68,000 miles. The oil pan started to leak where it meets the engine block. I had it replaced by the dealer for ~ $800.00. It lasted one year before leaking again, worse this time. I researched and found that Ford used a plastic oil pan on the 3.5 ecoboost from 2015-2017 (maybe some early 2018 models). They are prone to warping and leaking. My dealer would not offer any solution beyond replacing it with the same plastic pan. It is possible to install an aluminum pan (with matching pick up tube, dipstick, and some replacement hardware) to correct the problem. I decided instead to trade in the truck for a new 2023 F150 lariat. I loved my 2017, but was ready to move on.

I leased a fairly low-spec XL model to tow my 5000 lb. boat and I chose one off the lot. I’m really glad the dealer ordered it with the 2.7 Ecoboost over the base engine; it’s well worth the $995 premium. Excellent acceleration as well as highway power. It’s amazing that this engine is exactly half the displacement of a V-8 5.4 liter Expedition I previously leased yet it produces 25 more horsepower and more torque. I just completed a trip of almost 3000 miles with the boat in tow. I had no problem cruising at 80 mph with ample power for passing. The reduced weight of this aluminum truck is listed at only 4400 lbs on my registration. The seats in this basic model were remarkably comfortable for both myself and my passenger for a long day of driving. I never had to alter my position to avoid discomfort, cramping, or pain. The only seats I’ve ever experienced that are as comfortable for all day driving are in my S class Mercedes sedan. What people say about the Ecoboost is correct; it’s a powerful, economical engine, just not both at the same time. If you go lightly on the gas with nothing in tow, it gets better than 20mpg but if you use the more than ample power, it uses as much or/more gas than a V-8. Rear seat comfort was adequate for adult passengers for short trips. I love the Sync3 system that permits my phone’s navigation system to appear on screen but I hate Apple for restricting it to their map program and not Google. I hear that Waze is being added however. Also, the phone keypad won’t work when truck is in motion, which sucks. Try responding to an automated call when you can’t enter a single digit, even though it is much less distracting than doing many touchscreen functions that are permitted. I’ve had one problem with the truck that Ford can’t seem to solve yet. On cold mornings, the rear camera won’t work. As soon as the vehicle warms up, it works and there is no problem if the temperature is above about 45 degrees. My dealer has been unable to fix.

Take your time with investigating the options and costs associated. You can get a better deal with a well factory accessorized Lariat vs purchasing a Platinum or limited. Ford marketing does an outstanding job of offering complex color, engine, trans, and options, schema(s) to maximize their profits (as they should). Also put the time into negotiating with multiple dealerships as they are all willing to ultimately make a fair deal when pressed by an informed buyer. This is the best truck Ford has ever made. Initial quality has been outstanding.

I've owned many trucks over the years. I've never had a Ram, but have owned many Chevrolet and GMC pick ups. My father and father-in-law have F-150 trucks. I recently sold my GMC Sierra SLT 4WD Crew Cab and bought a 2017 F-150 Platinum 4WD SuperCrew with the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 and new 10-speed transmission. This truck is the fanciest and nicest truck I have ever been in. This thing is nicer than the vast majority of Mercedes and BMW cars. Tons of room, engine with gobs of power, very quiet, and awesome material quality used throughout. It is expensive, so you need to buy from a dealer than will give steep discounts like I did (Long-Lewis Ford in Muscle Shoals, AL). But this is one amazing truck! I would rather travel down the highway in this thing than a Cadillac!

5 1/2 years still a great truck

I’ve had this F150 for 5 1/2 years, I’ve put 75k on her, still averaging little better than 20 mpg and never once has the tiny 2.7 Ecoboost engine disappointed me when I mash gas, like pony cars of the late 60’s this thing will zip. Only thing I’ve had to do is put rear brakes on, a set of tires and change the oil, that’s all. The truck rides great, the transmission shift flawlessly, most the time I take it easy, but when you need it all 375 foot pounds of torque are on hand to get around someone or to accelerate onto the highway. Seats are comfortable but drivers seat showing a little wear. Hate the start stop, but that’s easily cut off with dash mounted button. Was lil worried about 5.5 foot bed, but so far hauled easily everything I’ve need to haul! You sit up high with a commanding view around you. It’s not only a great around town truck, but a awesome highway cruiser, in my 59 years this is absolutely my favorite vehicle, Ford knows how to build a comfortable dependable pretty economical full size pickup and I couldn’t happier, my truck was built at Ford’s Kansas City plant and I Thank every one that had a hand building this truck, might be a lowly XL, but for me it’s been perfect!!!❤️❤️❤️ Even my wife loves driving it, the grandkids love riding in it, tons of room and even after 5 1/2 years it still gets compliments on the Race Red Paint. My next truck will be another F159 STX in Race Red, but I’ll look for a front bench instead of a console get 1 more grandchild in it😀 again I Love this Truck!!!

Poor way to get a new truck

2017 Ford F-150 Lariat 4dr SuperCrew 4WD 5.5 ft. SB (2.7L 6cyl Turbo 6A)

I went to sleep and rolled and totaled my 2013 Platinum. That truck handled the wreck so well in keeping me safe, I thought Ford is the way to go. My new Lariat with the 3.5L V6 and 10 speed transmission is not a step down. It is a step up from the 2013. It has everything the Platinum had an much more. I do a lot of freeway driving. The 3.5L V6 and the 10 speed make the entry to the 75 MPH line of traffic easy and safe. Shazam, it is quick. I added a spray-in , a Tonneau top, and power running boards. It is like driving a royal limo. In the initial 1500 miles, the average is 20.8 mpg, up 5 mpg from the 2013 Platinum. I would have a hard time listing all the superlatives that cross my mind about this truck. Quick, quiet, comfortable, well appointed, love the auto high beams, improved rear camera, voice activated navigation, and on and on. After 25,000 miles, my attitude and appreciaion for this F150 has not changed. If anything, it has been enhanced with tie and usage. Since I do a lot of freeway driving, I really like the quick aceleration from the entrance ramp to the line of traffic, The yellow warning light in the side mirror has been very helpful in my avoiding accidents with vehicles in my blind spot. Safety enhancments are overdue and worthwhile. Update: After 12,000 very enjoyable miles, a six point buck decided to jump out of the bush on the side of the road and smack me on the point of the right front fender. It was so quick there was no time to respond. The deer went flying into the ditch and left me with $5000+ damage. Compliments to Henson Ford Body Shop. Can't tell it ever happened. It looks great and handles as smoothly as before. After the rental car, this Ford is a dream. Perhaps the old adage is true, "absence makes the heart grow fonder". When choosing the model on this template, I was not given the option of choosing the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost, but this truck has that engine.

Great Truck with Goofy Security System

I have a 2WD V-8 which was not an option in the model drop-down. I have only owned this truck for two months, so I could not comment on a lot of the questions such as repair frequency, etc. My initial impression of this truck is very positive except for one feature that is so idiotic that it is hard to believe. The design of the driver's door handle and key lock makes the 2017 F-150 extremely easy to break into. The lock cylinder is mounted on the door handle, not on the door. When you pull the door handle out to open the door, you can look behind the door handle and see the lock cylinder. To break into the truck, you just need to pull the door handle out, slip a pair of pliers behind the handle over the lock cylinder, and turn it. Doing so enables you to unlock the truck, open the door, and get in within a couple of seconds without tripping any alarms. I had a weapon stolen from my truck at a restaurant. When the police arrived, they went right to the door lock and showed me how it looked like it was off center. The police say they see this all the time with the new F-150s. How could Ford engineers come up with something so stupid? The fix is to replace the driver's handle and lock cylinder with one designed for the passenger door. This fixes this bug, but leaves you exposed to difficulties getting into the truck if your truck battery ever runs down completely. If this happens, you have to either break a window to open the hood or have the truck towed to the dealer. Wow, what a monumental goof!!!! See the Ford F-150 Forum for a discussion of this problem ( https://www.f150forum.com ).

I have a 2017 limited 4x4. after 1 year all I can say is that it is by far the best truck I've ever owned or seen. it is comfortable ,easy to drive and holy cow the power....... The 3.5 twin turbo with the 10 speed is so strong.375 hp and 470 torque it is fast.....super sexy styling inside and out...the only complaint are the tires. they are great on dry and wet pavement, but if you live in a snowy area like I do, the Perrelli scorpions are not very good and with 22 inch rims options are limited. that being said I got a better tire and I love this truck. a little more money than a lariat, but with almost all option standard its worth it.

I bought my 2017 Ford F150 XLT crew cab after owning a Chevy and a Dodge in the past. By far, the Ford trucks are better in every aspect. I have heard and read about people comparing other trucks to the Ford trucks; however, I can tell you from personal experience none of the truck makers compare to the Ford trucks. The Ford trucks are engineered with such quality that it is noticeable from the first drive. Personally, the ride quality, comfort, and gas mileage have been superior. The ride quality is better than most luxury brand cars. The comfort is excellent especially for long trips for larger drivers. Overall, the best brand and quality truck on the market!!!

Update: truck has 48k miles, no changes in the clunk. Even the 2020 10 speed F150s do it. Biggest issue, this 1st gen 10 speed tranny causes a clunk noise to come from transfer case intermittently on startup. Ford Field Service Engineer calls it a "characteristic of this truck". Also, front camera of lane keeping system displays error messages. Dealership doesnt see the issue. Go to youtube and search for "Driveshaft clunking on engine start 3 level grade resting on brake" watch the driveshaft move and clunk. Here is a video i took of a 2018 f150 rental, it did the same clunk! https://youtu.be/UYiiA29xT68

BEST FORD TRUCK EVER MADE

Owning the FORD F-150 has been my best experience ever. I have owned chevy's , Toyota, dodge, and a Titan. But over all this F-150 is by far the BEST handling , performance and the BEST mpg ( miles per gallon ) . We're averaging in town driving 18 miles to the gallon and interstate miles per gallon 23.8. I'm 6ft 4 and 374 lbs. And the truck rides comfortable and is easy to get in and out of. Ford has really stepped up to the plate as far as the overall expectations of a full size truck. The lighter body was an excellent idea, as we have now seen other dealers going to . We'really please to say that when 2020 the NEW FORD BRONCO is coming back to AMERICA. My wife said she will be the PROUD OWNER in driving that vehicle. One more thing-if your're ever in the PARIS, TENNESSEE area ,check out JOE MAHON FORD. They are the BEST folks that you will ever meet, their employees are the nicest and most thought of folks to deal with. If your looking for a caring, generous and giving sales person . Then you need to meet MRS. ANGIE sweetest woman to deal with and to know. Without her our visit may have not been possible. FORD NEEDS TO RECONIZED HER AS THE BEST SALESWOMAN OF THE YEAR. THANK YOU MOHAN FORD for making us a PROUD FORD OWNER.

I've owned this truck for 3 months and have put 4K miles on it since purchasing it as a low mile (5K) CPO truck. I purchased it in an attempt at better MPG than my 2014 F150 supercrew 4X4 with 5.0 which had averaged 18.7 over the 57K miles I had driven since purchasing it new in Jan. of 2015. I've not been disappointed. I'm averaging 23.4mpg overall for 4K since purchase. Best tank 25.5mpg(that's manually calculated) and best trip(215 miles) with several stops at flea markets along the way 28.0 mpg. I made one short trip of 40 miles that I think I forgot to start the engine as I got 33.3 mpg. Only complaint I have is that it's a bit more squirrly riding than my 2014 F150 supercrew 4X4 and the steering is a bit too light at highway speeds. I attribute that to the fact that it is a 4X2, the body is aluminum, and it's got 20" wheels compared to the 18" on my old truck. So it weighs quite a bit less. Trade in July of 2019 for a new 2019 F150 SC 4x4 was still averaging 23+ Mpg (had just over 21K on odometer) missed my 4x4. Update: trade off the 2019 supercrew(3.5 eco boost 4x4) with 21K miles on it. Was a great truck zero problems over 3 years of ownership. 22mpg overall mostly highway. Longest trip. 5700 miles out to California and back by a circuitous route speeds from 55-80mph, 24mpg overall for entire trip. Not computer numbers but hand calculated.

I bought a new to me 2017 F-150 Super Crew 4X4 with the 2.7 Ecoboost engine in XL trim with the STX package. I think the STX package is definitely the best bang for your buck if you're looking to get into a truck with some nice additions. Since it's the base XL it does miss a few features like power and heated seats, door keypad, and leather wrapped steering wheel. But the STX package does give you some good stuff like 20" wheels, paint matched bumpers and grille surround, black sport seats, center console, and sync 3. The sync 3 was important to me so I would have apple carplay. The truck drives smooth and the 2.7 has plenty of power to give. I don't tow a lot, but the couple times I have it's pulled the 4,500 lb trailer and contents with zero problems. It barely feels like it's back there. I have found it difficult to get the EPA mileage out of it, but since most of my driving is hilly suburban roads, i'm not too surprised. If I'm easy on it, I can get 18 mpg average and about 20-21 on the highway keeping it under 70. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this truck to someone who is looking for a good honest truck that has a couple of nice features without breaking the bank. I do wish it had power seats and a less plasticy dash, but it's less that can break and the plastic is easy to clean and maintain. The stock Hancook tires are not great in the rain or mud so those will be coming off soon and replaced with something a little better. Otherwise, I've added a tonneau cover, floor liners, and window deflectors and don't see any need for me to add really anything else. It's a great solid truck that you will enjoy driving that looks like a higher trim thanks to the wheels and paint matched bumpers and grille. If you're looking for a good truck that has some essential features that looks nice, look no further than the STX F-150.

My first Ford. While truck shopping I was between the Tundra and F150. The Tundra is beautiful! Rides a little bulky, lags in technology. The F150 just glides when you drive it. Instrument panels are bright and easy to use/read. Power and USB options everywhere you look. Very comfortable ride. Often there is a vibration but then again I live in Ga, roads here suck and yes..you're driving a truck. Gas MPG is pretty decent for truck this size. I am averaging 16-17 city. I dont stomp on it much even though I installed a Roush intake and Flowmaster super 40 9" muffler. This thing is loud! Has a very nice kick. When you need the power, this 5.0 can move. I am 5k miles in and still rides great. I talk hype, so why the 4 stars than 5? I have read other reviews about faulty alarm system. I stopped to get gas and my kids stayed in the truck. Out of habit, I lock the truck and fill up. The alarm goes off and the kids did not open any doors. I disarm, and lock the truck again, moment later, alarm goes off again. A friend of mine has same truck, King Ranch. He mentioned when you turn the truck off your panel gives you an option for all sensors or outside perimeter only. Apparently the truck has sensors inside similar to a house alarm, if motion is detected, the alarm goes off. A safety feature so you do not leave kids or animals in a hot truck, alarm would draw attention. I never knew this.. anyone confirm this? Transmission.. not so great. I often feel a small jerk downshifting from 5-4, or sometimes shifting up 3 to 4. If I approach a stop or yield on a decline road, the transmission will shoot to 1st gear so if i do not stop fully, you get a very nasty jerk when you accelerate. I have driven a new Ford Fusion and Expedition and got similar behavior. Come on Ford.. you guys have made so many improvements over the years, maybe ditch the wal mart brand transmission. I have the 6dp by the way. I test drove a eco boost 10 speed and felt some jerk on and off. I love my truck, I am very happy I went with Ford. I have gotten allot of compliments how nice the truck rides and comfort. We'll see how we're doing at 10k miles.

2017 Ford F-150 4X4 Supercrew Short-bed 3.5 V6 Ecoboost with a 10 Speed Automatic Transmission. This vehicle is equipped with the 302A package. This engine is very powerful yet it delivers very good fuel economy. It is NOT a typical V6, this vehicle is equipped with dual turbo-charges. I average 19 MPG around town and average 22 MPG on the highway. It will deliver as much as 24 MPG on the highway. This vehicle rides very sooth an is very comfortable to drive. I prefer to disengage the Auto Start/Stop feature which is standard equipment in this truck. Even though this truck is very big it’s easier to drive then a passenger car and has a superb steering radius. The exterior and interior fit finish is very good. I do have the Navigation with the large LED screen. The radio and the features related to the radio are great. The voice activated controls and the hands-free phone system is the best I’ve personally experienced.

Towing and tripping

Primary drivers behind purchase was use as a tow truck for my boat (@ 3,000 lbs.) and a comfortable, serviceable vehicle for long road trips. Being retired and having a second vehicle daily driver stuff not a consideration. Got the XLT Supercrew with the 3.5 liter Ecoboost, 10 speed auto, 4WD, 302A, tow and off-road packages. The off-road package idea was to get a little more ground clearance and not scrape the driveway like my Astrovan and GMC Savanna vans did. Being a 72 year old retired teacher the only way I'd normally go off road is falling asleep at the wheel on the interstate. But you never know. May have kept me, my wife and faithful cocker spaniel from becoming a Bigfoot meals on wheels while exploring the environs of the Trinity River in Northern California. Got into some deceptively deep, very loose sand. It felt awful! Definitely one of those "Oops!" moments. Not only impressed but very, very relieved when I put it in 4WD and drove right out. No problem at all climbing my very steep driveway with 6-8 inches of new-fallen snow on it especially with the General AT/X tires I've had on it for last 40K. Handled any boat launch I've ever used no sweat. Vehicle has the 20 inch tires that appear to be a foot wide, class IV hitch, and 36 gallon gas tank. After driving for almost 5 years, with a 7,220 mile road trip, 3-4 others in the 4-5,000 mile range and probably a dozen thousand mile long round trip tows still very, very pleased. Might be tempted next time to go with the 2.7 liter Ecoboost. Little cheaper, little bit more economical. For me the 3.5 is overkill - it'll almost jerk the trailer out from under my boat. Truck got 22.1 mpg on a 7.500+ road trip with the original tires and gets 20-21 mpg on road trips with the General AT/X tires I've used last 40K+ miles. Gets 16-18 mpg towing my boat. Very comfortable. Rides well - maybe a tad harsh unloaded but that very quietly. Even at 80-85 mph you can listen to music or actually talk to your passenger. Instrument panel is adequate. Synch 3 is great. Very intuitive. Stereo system sounds great. Listen to everything from classic rock and roll to classical and space music. Great truck.

My previous 5 vehicles were Cadillac Escalades. 2 EXT's and 3 ESV's. While Caddy has great curb appeal and decent ride, my Platinum F150 beats the Caddy in every category except looks. I had the Caddy's in shop constantly with ridiculous problems big and small. So far, after a year, the F150 has only been in for oil changes and rear window (that little one in back) that opened but would not shut. I drove my neighbor, who is in his 70's and drives a Lexus LX570, to a football game two hours away and he said the F150 Platinum was the best riding vehicle he has ever been in. The second row seats have a lot more room than the Cadillac ESV. My wife, who also drives a Lexus SUV, likes the F150 Platinum , although she won't admit it

My 2017 Lariet is now four years old with 57,000 miles and it drives like it is brand new! Never had any issues with it and have hauled trailers across the country twice now. It is as smooth a ride as the day I bought it. This is my first Ford product and now I wondered why I never considered a Ford in past decades. I wanted a full size truck with blind spot monitors and at the time, Ford was the only truck offering that option! No regrets, expect to keep this truck for many years.

We test drove a really nice '17 F150 among others before opting to buy a new one. The 2017 we drove had a smooth ride, solid handling, and more horsepower than anyone really needs, which is a delight too. This one had the small dash screen with navigation buttons. It works well, and I like way they have 10 easily accessible radio presets in that design. I'm partial to the touchscreen, but the "cheaper" option is pretty intuitive and has its advantages. Overall, if you're going to spend the big bucks for a truck, it should be an F150. They're the standard for pickups, and I can see why.

I spent a bit a time reviewing the trucks of the Big 3 online. But I narrowed it down to the F-150 after talking to many of my friends or family that currently have one. I could not find anyone to had much negative to say about them. Most everyone loved their Ford 150, even if it was several years old.

The low end power on this V6 is insane. With the addition of dual exhausts, better breathing into turbos, this truck would be scary fast. A friend has a brand new Ram 2500 with 6.2 motor and it has less torque than this "little" V6. Torque and HP is better than Ram or GM trucks. The interior amenities and techy goodies in this truck are really cool but also functional and targets safety, as well. People that have ridden in the back seats say it's cavernous. There a few items I think would make this a perfect truck. 1) more front seat comfort. While the massaging option on my Limited is nice, front seats seem to be a little rigid. Great leg room, but would like a little more length in seat area. Navigation commands still need improving. You should be able to ask navi questions and get answers similar to Siri on iPhone. Trying to get to a location without stopping and typing in locations, restaurants or other amenities is cumbersome. Start/stop option on this pickup is one of the best features offered and should be standard on every vehicle, diesels included. This will save billions of gallons of fuel yearly. But all things considered, I'm looking forward to keeping this beauty for at least 4 years. Also looking forward to what Ford's got in store for down the road.

The seats are very comfortable for us, me 6-4 her 5-7. The ride is great. The back doors folding all the way back and completely opening up the passenger compartment is awesome for loading. One recall to keep the door locks from freezing. Power is impressive. I get 21-22 in both local and hwy driving. Been to the dealer several times to check this out. Hwy rating 26. Speed kills the mileage. We did a loop in Main on state hwys 60 max, through a few small towns, got 27.5 actual, Ford shows about 7% high on average. We get about 12 mpg pulling our 4000# Micro Mini at 60 – 65. If I try to jump off the line the tires break loose at maybe 1/3 throttle. At 60 6th 1500, 5th 1800, 4th 2400, 3rd 3000 RPM. I can lock out top gears and unless it is very flat or a tail wind I lock out 6th pulling the camper. It takes a pretty steep grade to hit 3rd, and stay out of the way it’s holding speed. Passed semis barely moving. Drives so well, my wife tows the camper on open road to give me a break. She spoke up going through Texas, “oh I am going 80”. I thought “we are burning lots of gas”. Have 62K using 10K oil changes, and oil does not seem to go down. I like the displays and Sync. The individual tire pressures are great. Had a low pressure light come on. Switched to the pressure screen. I knew to stop as the pressure dropped every few seconds, saved the tire. I recently drove a friends 21 V8 Silverado. The power was not anywhere close to mine! Glad I am not stuck with it. Nov 2022 update: Finally added oil at 67,000 miles. Hopefully not a trend. Replaced the the tires at 75K. No body rust so far. 5-22-24: Over 90-K now Rear transmission seal and pinion seal have slow leaks. Parts will be less than $30. Have not added oil again.

My 2017 Roush f150 has had nothing but trouble. It is back at the dealership now with a possible blown engine. Ford mechanics cant figure out what's up. I am not racing it. Got 68K miles out of my original Mickey Thompson Tires before change out so not spinning tires. Vehicle now has 72K miles on it now and Ford may or may not help me fix it. The truck has a history of multiple shop visits with the mechanic not being able to diagnose the problems with the computer. I have had to replace the rear end, torque converter and now possibly the engine. Also , I tried to sell this truck a couple months ago before recent issues and ford offered my 33K trade in on an 80K truck. Nothing like loosing 47K in 2.5 years in value and now possibly needing to replace a 10K engine. Dont buy a Roush f150

So I purchased a 2017 Ford Raptor... that I special ordered and waited for about 8 months to receive. Upon receiving it I Loved the truck! However after putting 13,000 miles of dirt/ commuting miles on it i started hearing a loud noise when it was downshifting and climbing small hills for some reason it would only do it occasionally well eventually it started making the noise all the time.... I started talking it to the dealership to try to find out What the noise was I am now four times in and a total of 25 days in the shop and they can not figure it OUT!!! I'm totally DEVASTATED!!! I will continue to go back to the dealership until they can resolve this issue however I would not recommend buying one!!

It had always been a dream of mine to own a truck. When I stepped into the F-150 I knew this was my truck. We bought the v8 version with 385hp and 387 ft lbs of torque. We recently went on a trip and averaged 22mpg. As a father, I love the great crash ratings. My family is protected. It is a great overall truck.

This is my second F150 King Ranch in a row. The vehicle itself is phenomenal. However, I drive about 30,000 miles a year and the driver seat is the most uncomfortable see that I have ever had in her vehicle. My right leg has been experiencing terrible pain for months now. It wasn’t until my wife drove my truck that I was able to pinpoint it was actually the driver seat causing the pain. Apparently Ford decided to use a thinner top layer of foam and as a result the massaging mechanism pokes into your butt. If you are a driver of any distance, avoid this truck.

Just traded a 2017 F150 with the Ecoboost and ten speed auto7/22 . New tranny in 2/22 and in on 6/28 with a cracked PLASTIC oil pan and PLASTIC valve cover. Not counting the numerous recalls for cam phasers and door latch and lock issues. Drove nicely when it ran, but would take a v8 and six speed instead.

I was excited to get my brand new F150, with the 3.5 twin turbo and ten speed tranny. That said, I took my new truck home and within a week noticed significant rust on several drivetrain components and on the rear differential. I went to the dealer and asked how a brand new car can have embedded rust already on it. They said not to worry, that it's normal on all their new trucks. They referenced the rust that you see on brake pads when a vehicle sits for a long period of time, this comparison is total crap. The next time you use your brakes the rust will disappear, while the rust everywhere else simply gets much worse over time. I did not realize until later the document they had me sign regarding future rust issues. I was told by a knowledgeable person that Ford decided to lower their use of environmentally unfriendly paint, which has dramatically reduced rust protection on the metal frame and other underbody components. Two months in and there are now new spots of rust, I should not have to deal with this on a new expensive truck. What a shame, I'll never buy a Ford again.

The current model F150 looks fantastic. Mine is the XL model with the STX package giving it some really nice options. Lightning blue is Incredible. Truck rides great on the 20" stock wheels. Bucket seats are very comfortable. The fabric is durable. Power output from the 2.7l turbo Eco Boost is simply Amazing. Fuel mileage is average 24, Thats great for a full size pickup. Cab is very roomy with lots of storage area's. My only reserve is the Sound system. I have the upgraded 8" Sync 3 system with Sirius XM which I always use. It has a ton of multi media options for most any use, But...... To me the Audio output is lacking. Bass is nearly non existing. The 6 factory speakers are very cheap plastic. I upgraded all 6 to some high quality speaker for less than $200. This helped, but it just needs more power. System upgrades for this model are few and Expensive. Over all I love the truck.

The F-Series has been the number one truck for 40 years, the number one selling vehicle (car, truck,SUV) for 30 years. IHS number one truck for overall safety the other brands failed miserably. And you rate it 6th overall. What is wrong with this picture. Number one, why bother with the rest. My 2017 is the second new body style F-150 I have leased. I had a 2015, that also was a great truck.

This truck is great, a lot more functionality than our previous ones. Only complaint is they no longer offer the cowhide leather seats, which wore like iron.

There are a few things I would change about the truck minor things but besides that I am very happy with this vehicle I just drove 1054 miles from southeast Wisconsin to Gulf Shores Alabama and it was probably the most comfortable road trip I've ever been. I have the tow package without the max tow 3.5 L EcoBoost 10 speed transmission and I hauled a mini excavator and a tag trailer about a month after I purchase my vehicle total weight of the trailer and equipment was about 10700 lb and this 6 cylinder had no problem pulling it and it didn't even squat as much as GM 2500 what's a pull-behind bumper Style RV and it looks like they put a 4in lift kit on the front of the vehicle and forgot to put it on the back

Double check the turbo seals if it had a lot of miles on it. Great truck.

Just purchased a 2wd XL with the STX package and some extra goodies. Sync 3, power windows/locks, backup camera, 20inch rims, towing we’re all a part of this at $23,995. Factor in our trade value of $7,500 and adding an auto start and a set of studded tires for the winter to it (not totally uneducated) and also a warranty and we sat back at just under $22k for a pretty sweet setup. Driving with the 2.7 was remarkable with power everywhere and smooth shifts from the 6-speed and decent sound from motor. Cabin is remarkably quiet and pleasant with enough soft touch items to make it feel more upscale. With the car market now this was an extremely unusual score at close to $7k under book after options so we were willing to accept 2wd with some help from studded tires in the winter. Keep in mind this is typically not what I’d recommend for those that haven’t been here for long periods of time! If you’re looking for a good truck then ford is probably the way to go. Keep in mind they tend to be more expensive due popularity, parts availability and the market share of vehicles they sell. With so many configurations you’re bound to find something you like. Will post an update here in the winter months with some predictable wording based on studded tire experience

I would likely stick with the ford brand for a truck. I had a problem with the truck smoking a bit. Ford was all over taking care of the issue. No questions asked. Amazing customer service. I love this truck. My only wish going forward would be to upgrade to a raptor.

I bought my used 2017 F150 XLT 4X4 with the 5.0 Coyote V8 in September of 2023. It had approximately 90,000 miles on it and the test drive sold me, as it had obviously been well cared for. The interior was pristine and it rode very comfortably. It did have a subtle transmission issue that caused it to randomly feel like I was rolling over a series of small bumps. This ended up being a known issue and my warranty allowed me to get a new (refurbished) transmission installed at no charge to me. Since the new one was installed, it has been flawless. The only other change I made was replacing the factory infotainment center with one that has a much larger screen than the 3.5" factory screen. I keep the truck clean and keep up with all of the recommended maintenance. I have had the truck for a year and a half now, and am very pleased with it. I expect to continue driving it for years to come.

Amazed by the Engine, disappointed by the gearbox

Riding 2017 raptor with 50K mile on it, the gearbox is very jerky, there is some stupid hesitation on low speeds and low throttle. Changing gear over all is not right as is supposed to work, I wish if I can replace my gearbox with a 6 speeds The engine is outrageous, super powerful, and fair fuel consumption. The ride of the raptor is very steady and comfy, good sound proofing.

I recently bought my 2017 F150 in April of 2021 and traded in my precious vehicle for something bigger. Although I love everything about the engine (2.7L EcoBoost), the ride, and the smoothness, I have had one thing that concerned me. Whenever I approach a stop sign, red light, etc. my vehicle lights to “jerk” or “clunk” right before coming to a stop. I can hear it and feel it. Sometimes it is more noticeable and sometimes not as noticeable. I have brought it to dealerships and other shops and no one can replicate the action which is infuriating. I wish i could know what it is. I am hoping it’s not the (6 speed) transmission. It might be the slip yoke but I am not sure. Wish Ford could not have these small problems with their expensive trucks.

Really not a "Ford" person. However, I kept seeing many F-150 pickups at the traffic lights and on the road. Am impressed with the gas mileage (much better than my 2002 Tundra). Lots of power with the 6 cylinder twin turbo. 2.7L, not 3.5 L. Interior is quite comfortable. The audio system is wonderful. Listen to a flash drive of music. Every song sounds great! Have the ruby red color...nice! Truck is a little larger than the old Tundra..but it still fits in the garage. So far, after 3.5 years, no problems. I must mention I have only 12,000 miles on the vehicle

This Super Crew was purchased used from an auto rental company with very few miles on it, less than what would be needed for one oil change in fact. It is an XLT trim, but feels more like an XL with the fabric, plastic-feeling steering wheel and radio/infotainment package. Either Ford is further lowering the base trims, or this was ordered with some really basic stuff. The interior is nicely roomy and this truck has the front bench with fold down center console. The console sits too high and does create a slightly awkward driving position if you want to rest your right elbow on it. However, it is nice to be able to safely fit 6 people in a pinch. The AC is amazing and we love that it decreases its massive airflow speed when you answer a phone call. The HVAC controls are good, we like knobs! The infotainment system is not very intuitive though and pretty rudimentary. We feel like Ford took a step backwards here comparing it to previous gen XLTs. Also, the side view mirrors were a step backwards as well. Despite the lighter aluminum body and 2wd, the naturally aspirated V6 is pretty weak in this truck. We drive it in Sport mode almost always to get a better throttle response. It does get very good fuel economy and has terrific range. In Sport mode we appreciated the altered shift points when driving in hilly or mountainous areas and the transmission will hold gear well in descents; this transmission is definitely an upgrade over previous models. The ride feels light, and perhaps too stiffly sprung, but the steering feel is worse than previous models. The heavier steel body on the previous gen may have actually made this truck ride better, or they need to adjust more for this light body and drivetrain weight. 5.5’ beds are kind of a pain! Almost everything seems to be a few inches too long. Our next pickup will have a 6’ bed. There is very little to go wrong with this vehicle and it has been utterly reliable. As long as you don't overburden it, it still makes for a handy, reliable pick-up, capable of hauling 5 very comfortably and 6 a little less so.
