Performance failing with increased mileage

I purchased this truck with 17k miles. Great ride and performance and was well pleased. I always followed the service and maintenance recommendations, oil changes, rotations, filters etc. all done and on schedule. I travel a lot and am now at 140k miles and it's falling apart. First the 4 wheel drive stop working and now the engine, transmission or fuel system has gone bad, truck flutters really awful when in overdrive, accelerating or simply trying to climb a hill on the interstate. Next the truck just stops going when coming to a coast of stop sign some times. It just falls into a idling state. The old saying that FORD is an acronym for "Fix Or Repair Daily" has come true for me.

Ford A/C

A/C just wouldn't work right from the git-go. Local dealer worked on it 4 times. Finally took it to the selling dealer and an HONEST technician informed me that Ford geniuses put smaller A/C's in these trucks. How incredibly STUPID. I just can't believe I am paying $40k for a truck that doesn't cool off. In South Texas it's 110 in the shade. What the heck happened to the usually intelligent engineers at Ford? I am, for the first time. incredibly disappointed with my Ford truck.

Purchased this truck with only 25,000 miles on it for under 10,000. I love the 5 speed manual and sitting up high. I have owned Ford trucks all my life and will always by fords.

I have the 2WD model, not the 4WD. It has the trailer tow package and pulled my 4000lb travel trailer w/o any problems. Would tow it @ 70+MPH, but the gas gauge goes to the left way too quickly. Have the 3.73 limited slip and it has helped me get out of a few slippery issues w/o 4WD. Gets about 13-15MPG in town; have gotten close to 20MPG on highway w/o air on, 60-65MPH, and temps in the 50-60 degrees. I have the 5.4L, and the only complaint is that is does use some oil between changes about 1qt in 3000-4000 miles. Used Mobil 1 since first oil change, but recently changed to Valvoline Full Synthetic with good results. No spark plug issues as changed them @ 50K instead of 100K per my dealer's advice and all came out w/o any problems. Just normal maintenance and one set of front brake pads in 76k miles. Just replaced original rear pads & rotors @ 87K. I also change the following every 30K: trans fluid & filter (no flushing!), fuel filter, and rear diff fluid. Also change the antifreeze every 2 yrs. Change the oil when you're supposed to (6K maximum) and use a good quality oil filter-stay away from the cheap oil filters.

I've become a truck man

This truck reeks quality. I'm impressed with the attention to detail. Looks extra hot with 22" rims. I have the 4x2 SuperCrew Lariat. I recently decided to take a short cut through the canyons (Hwy 74 Ortega Hwy.) This truck handles the curves extremely well. I also took it to Rosarito Mexico; the ride was very nice and I got lot of head turns on the way. I happen to own several vehicles but I seem to have gotten addicted to driving my F150.
