Nearly Perfect Sport Truck

This truck can best be described as Ford's rendition of a Corvette with a pickup bed. Eyeball-flattening acceleration, sports car handling, and the ability to carry a half ton of stuff in the back. My only two complaints are the lack of a manual transmission (although it does have the best automatic I've experienced) and the gas mileage: 14 MPG on the mandatory premium fuel. Ouch! But that's the price you pay for this much fun and utility in one good-looking package.

Worked for a Ford dealership when I first drove an F-150 and fell in love with it. I went with the '03 because the body style changed for '04, and I particularly liked the older body style best. This truck sits higher stock then other makes, lots of room for the driver in the cab. Long trips are no problem with the captain chairs. 4.6 L motor is a fine balance of power and fuel economy. Stock exhaust actually stifles take-off slightly, but thats minor. Zero mechanical problems except general wear when it was purchased ford certified at 30k miles. Definitely recommend this truck for purchase, lives up to reputation. Looks good and is fun to drive!

Great truck, not zippy, but the power comes when you need it. What about better mileage?

I love this truck! It is great for pulling our boat. (I got the 5.4L V8) Plenty of power, very reliable. Surprisingly capable off road. Not very good fuel economy, but fun to drive nonetheless. Exceptional vehicle, great styling!

All I have to say is that this pick-up truck is the best the world has ever seen. This truck is so versitile that it will run the 1/4 mile and beat all the imports out there, tow a boat / trailer or even help you in a move! Anyone thinking about spending 30 grand on a performance vehicle and still undecided on what to buy give the SVT Lightning a look. And for all of you waiting for the 2005 Lightning----this truck will truly be the king of the road!!! In every aspect of performance you can think of!!!!
