Car still needs tweaks
The major problem with this vehicle is fuel economy; it is inexplicably terrible - 17/18 miles typically in city. The exterior fit and finish, as well as interior trim, is less than perfect upon inspection. Exterior panels are off; interior leather seems thin and wears easily. Front seat craftsmanship is below Ford's standard quality and the seats are uncomfortable for long rides. Electronics are generally good but the radio will sometimes go dead requiring the car to be shut off and restarted for a reset. Similarly the electric windows sometimes fail. The package and design are a great start but it seems production needs a great deal of perfecting to achieve a really great car. However, if fuel economy isn't corrected the car is worth driving; no one likes watching the fuel gauge drift down driving home from filling up!

Fords answer to the Chevy Vega
I shouldn’t insult the Vega... The Ecosport is poorly named. Taking it’s incredibly rough ride, lack of power, a transmission that shifts for crap, cramped interior, poor handling, and being very susceptible to cross winds, the mileage claims are wrong. City you average under 15 mpg and highway your lucky if you break 19 mpg. With a tiny fuel tank. You’re lucky to reach 200 miles per fill up. You will become an expert with the radio. Every month or so, you will be up reprogramming your radio, hands free devices and inputting your saved navigation info. While the dealer and Ford claims it can’t happen, it has since the day we got this one. On the good side... there was a none. Terrible car, treat it like AIDS....

Mighty Micro Machine
I have had this car since April 2018. I have put on 77589 miles in that time. It has been a great little Dune buggy of a Crossover/SUV. It may not be the most powerful, or the fastest. But it gets you where you want, when you want and never seems to want to quit. Highway miles are ok at around 28-30mpg depending on how mountainous the terrain and the speed limit where you are(Out here in the West, the speed limits are 70-80mph so its harder on fuel mileage). Vehicle is fun to drive, and can be pushed with a good set of tires. With snow tires, this is an absolute beast(I have yet to get stuck anywhere, and I have driven this through 1-2 feet of snow here in the west with limited issues). The only issues I have run into are: -Driver and passenger side mirrors come loose when moved too far out and can occasionally fall out. -Catalytic converter failed at 55,245 miles and Ford replaced under warranty. -Fabric Skid guard fell off-Ford dealer replaced under warranty. -Lack of spare tire of any type is a real pain when somewhere remote with limited service(had happen once and beyond frustrating) -Lack of a surface/traction adjustability(snow/sand/mud/hill assist modes) can be a bummer when off-road or in sketchy conditions. -Could have a larger fuel tank and a little more power for better long distance and highway driving. Overall it is a great vehicle that punches far above its weight class. UPDATE: at 78,000Miles the transmission failed. Ford would not assist nor help cover the repairs as this is outside the warranty period...The transmission was faulty and they would not take any onus of responsibility.

Should I have bought
When I first saw the car I was impressed with the appearance both inside and out. Love the blue color. The copper accents in the car look good. I made a de vision that I wanted the car. The salesman told me it was a turbo, I decided I did not need to test drive the car. Well, my mistake, the car does not have a turbo, the SES is not available with a turbo. I guess I should have done my own research, but after all, my salesman was the son of the owner, he knows everything. I am past that now, the car lacks in power, but overall it does good enough. I have been happy with the car. In 3 months I put over 17,000 miles on it. Doing good so far. One thing I learned, I will never again but a car first year on the market, insurance is crazy, and no one knows anything about the car.
