Unbelievable Fuel Economy with Non-Hemi
My Ram is driven on interstates and if I keep my speed reasonable, I can consistently get 20+ mpg. Have had as high as 24 with a tail wind. For this size vehicle, this tuff looking truck is amazingly economical with gas. Getting ready to trade and considering something smaller but why give up full size luxury and ride to pick up 1-2 mpg, if that. Love my RAM and will probably by another, but not a Hemi. Get the 4.7 v8.
Dodge Ram 1500
The Dodge Ram 1500 is by far the best value in the full size market. A great looking truck that can work hard and is also affordable.

Hemi is worth it...
I know the options only give you the 4.7 to review/rate so I'm writing this review here. Finally took a while for me to find the "right" combination of options and color scheme but when I did it was worth it. Hemi is second to none, just wish the bolt-on horsepower options (Air intake system, etc.) weren't so much more for the Hemi as compared to other engines. As of now it presents more than enough power. Envy factor has already made a close friend buy one only two months after I got mine.
Should Have Bought This Sooner!
Purchased the last 2005 model the dealer had on the lot. WOW! What a truck. If ever a truck could have too much power (5.7L Hemi)this is it. More standard Horse Power than a Mustang. I have (had) been a Chevy man my whole life. The look, feel, ride, and performance of this truck scream testosterone. PLENTY of room for 6 people (Quad-Cab). I was also informed by the dealer that 2005 is the last year Dodge is offering the 7 Year/70,000 mile powertrain warranty. Sticker on window was $34k but after rebates/incentives drove it off the lot for $22k. It also has the 4WD, SLT package.
Hemi Ram Rocks
This is my second of the current generation of Ram. The first was a 2002 Quad Cab with a 5.9 V8. Great truck. This one is even better with a Hemi and 5 speed auto transmission. Very reliable and fun to drive. I recently had to rent a 2006 Chevy Silverado and could not wait to get back into the Dodge. It out performed the Chevy in almost every way. I will buy another one for sure.
Gramps Gotta Hemi
To and from work, about 13.1 mpg mixed driving. The hemi is fun very few people try the "right lane run up" when the lane is running out, great for passing. Use for light hauling, haven't tried the trailer package out yet. Ride is good for a truck, fit and finish now complaints. Rear seat accomodates grand daughters car seat with no problems (had to buy the quad cab, she can't be in front sear yet, hey it was a great excuse) Live in the metro Detroit area, no problem with snow. Thumper says welcome to Detroit, drive it like ya stole it.
Outstanding Truck!
Fuel mileage could be a little better, but if you keep your foot out of it you can get 21MPG on the highway. About 16 on my highway commute. Shocks could be a little stiffer, but it's obviously tuned for highway comfort. I drove the Chevy and Ford comparable trucks, and I thought the Dodge was the most truck for the money.
Every Boy's Dream
I've enjoyed owning my Ram Quad Magnum. I have wanted the new body design since its inception in the mid 90's. I am impressed by the interior room, cab design, and location of the instruments.
The very best truck ever
I traded my BMW M3 convertible in on this beast and it's one of the best things I ever did. I love this truck. It's a hoot to drive and I enjoy the power. I've added alot of aftermarket things to it such as dual exhaust, a Mopar cold air intake, a sprayed in bed liner, a brush guard on the front, a remote starter, to cool it off in the heat of summer before I get in it and a few other little things that make it uniquely mine. It's great! Seems that a lot of the men that I work with appreciate it too. They're always asking about the things that I've done to it. I'm very proud of my truck
Transmission problem
I drive 30,000 per year. Transmission is slipping when you first start out or after truck has sat for one hour. The dealer said it was a bad filter. Transmission still slips. I will take it back again. The truck is an '05 with 50,000 miles. I have never towed anything with it.
No problems - fun to drive - HEMI
No problems at all. Hemi is very responsive. 6.5 bed is large enough to actually use it as compared to other trucks.
consumer
the dodge ram is the best truck made.
my Hemi quad cab
From the time i first got into it, i knew it was going to be an awsome truck...damn the gass milage...full speed ahead...i can tow my 6000 lb travel trailer, and on level ground use my cruise control and get 12 mpg...i couldn't do that with my old GMC Sierra...thanks Dodge!!!!
HEMI POWER!!!
This truck has been great. I have had it for a little over a year and it has only been in the shop for one small problem. The fit and finish are top notch. The 4 wheel ABS works great. The 7/70 warranty takes the worry out of past Dodge tranny problems. The 345hp Hemi has great power! Ford, Chevy and Nissan can't touch it!
1500 Laramie
I had a 1996 Ram which I loved! This 2004 is proving to be just as nice a vehicle. The Hemi engine certainly makes it quicker but fuel mileage could be improved.
powerful dodge
good running truck and extremely powerful
Ram 1500 Quad w/ Hemi
Moved up from a Dakota. Nice ride, great improvement, better mileage than the 6 cyl. Dakota.
Super fun, and a workhorse for towing.
I purchased this vehicle to fill our needs for towing a 5000lbs boat and also a 5000lbs travel trailer. The 5.7L Hemi is the choice for us due to its power of 345hp and 375ft/lbs of torque. When you drive this truck you immediately notice the power when you accelerate. After driving other brands before purchasing, we feel very confident in our selection. This truck handles our towing needs very well.
So far, so good
I have driven Ford trucks for over 18 years until last year when I had several unpleasant experiences at Ford dealers and with my most recent Ford product. So I switched to Dodge, and so far, that was an excellent choice. If you purchase the "Hemi" and the 3.92 rear, you can't go wrong for towing. Ford could take lessons from this. If I get my usual 150,000- 200,000 miles, I'll stay a changed man.
Gotta be a Hemi
I never owned a truck before, but I bought the 1500 with the Hemi and love it. It fits me perfectly with plenty of room in the front for me and the wife and plenty of room for the kids in the back. The power of the Hemi is great. The look of the Dodge 1500 is great too.
Great Truck & fun to Drive!
Great truck for the money especially with the employee discount & rebates. Great ride and handles effortlessly.
My first Dodge
I just bought my '05 ram and I absolutely love it. It sits tall on the 20" inch factory rims. It's my first pickup and I would highly recommend for others to buy it
Nice Truck
I just bought the truck and I can't complain. The storage under the back seats and under the front middle seat is great. Even with the 4.7L it is a great performing truck. I love the way it sounds when you hit the gas, although Dodge should have made the exhaust louder. When you have a V8 you want to hear it.
Hemi power
I love the overall look of the truck. The truck pulls like a freight train. The Hemi is great and has a great exhaust note to it. It's a pain in the you know what to park but you get use to it. the interior space is outrageous can fit 4 people in the back seat comfortably, same with the front all though the drivers view is limited. The hemi is really responsive the slight it tap and it dont miss a beat. The limited slip differential comes in handy when u gun it.overall I think the truck its great but shorter drivers may have trouble seeing. And the truck is a ways off the ground so it is best if you got running boards. The gas mileage stinks out loud.
Dragon Red Over Silver
I wasn't getting anywhere on my 'offer' on a silver one then the dealer said, 'well, we have a red one'..My heart thumped (I wanted red) so I said show it to me. Yeek, very red over silver (I wanted it) will you take my offer? Another hour with two sales mgrs. we agreed on the deal. It was mine. A 2005 Quad Cab 1500. Dang, it's huge. Chrome grill and deflector trim, chrome clad rims..The SLT package with bed liner (I ordered the 'Bling' later from Brown's and a dealer in Tacoma, WA. Actually the dealership is great. They had it since Feb. 05 so it had some detail issues that were cheerfully taken care of. I couldn't have asked for more truck. Seems much larger than my 94' GMC Siera 1500..
We have a winner...
I spent about 3 weeks looking for the right truck. I looked at Dodge, Chevy, Ford, and Toyota. Dodge trucks have great rebates available on the 05 models that no other company can compare to right now (6500 for regular cab, 6000 for quad). The appearance, inside and out, as well as the smooth ride is what sold me. I don't plan on doing much towing, so I got the 4.7L engine, and it gets down the road just fine. After driving this truck around for the last few weeks, I can see why you are starting to see more and more Dodge Trucks on the road.
Ram 1500 Laramie 2WD SWB w/5.7 Hemi V8
The Ram 1500 Laramie with the optional 5.7 Hemi V8 is about as good as it gets driving a full size truck. Awesome power when it counts and loads of "eye- candy" both inside and out, especially with the sport package and 20" chrome wheels. The Ram 1500 is sure to garner lots of admiring glances whether it's on the move or just parked. With a feeling of quality throughout and lots of attention to detail this machine "out-classes" anything else in it's class. This truck is truly the truck lover's "dream machine".
The Thunder Rolls
Traded in my 2004 Ram 4.7L SLT Quad Cab for an '05 w/ a Hemi. This truck will pull a tree out of the ground! The most powerful gas V8 I've driven by far. Gas mileage not so good but come on it's a truck w/ power. What do you expect? Truck rides smooth and doesn't miss a beat going up hills on the highway. Should have went with the Hemi to begin with b/c there is a great difference in power and the gas mileage doesn't differ a whole lot.
Stepped up from a Toyota
I love this truck, totaly impressed with the hemi. Handeling, ride and even fuel economy have been outstanding. I average 17-18 mpg normal driving. About the same as a previous Mazda B3000 4x4 and nearly as good as my old Tacoma v6 4x4. Build quality is as good as the Toyota. I have put Rancho9000's on and handling is great with the big 20" Goodyears. Front GY's at 40K still look new. Rears, can't blame the tires. My first American made truck, been driving Japaneese trucks since 1974. Dodge, you won me over.
Sweet
The Hemi is sweet. Had to learn not to punch it until I swung out to pass because it gets it right now. Ride is pleasant and is a blast to drive. Some vibration at certain speeds but mild and is a 4X4. Paint quaility could be improved. Gas mileage is around 16 highway so far. 4X4 so far works great. Less expensive than a comparable equiped F150 by significant dollars. Much better look than Chevy.
This truck has no dull points
This truck has been a blast for me to drive around town and on the highways. The coolest moments about driving this truck has been when I'm at a dead stop and I take off screeching the tires and everyone turns their heads. The Hemi realy does command respect. But driving my truck would be whole lot more enjoyable if it was not for those high gas prices, they cost me about 60 dallors to fill up now. Though even if I got one of those smaller engines I still would be hurt (but not as much) so I will just stick with what I got and hope gas does not go up any more.
Love my truck
I bought it with a four inch lift and 33" BFG M/Ts. The 5.7L Hemi gives it a nice punch although the factory muffler has really quieted it down. The truck feels very solid and stable even with the 4" lift. For a light duty 1/2 ton, I've been very happy with it.
2005 Dodge Ram 1500
I love this truck. The only thing that could improve would be the gas mileage. It actually only averages about 13-16 miles per gallon. It handles well, very comfortable, quite roomy, and attractive to the eye. Love it!
Second time
This is my second Ram, had an 2003 SLT RW drive. Use primarily for towing boat and travel trailer, never thought the trailer towing package did not include limited slip rear, but true! One or two days on the ramp when wet told me I needed 4X4. Now have the Laramie package and 4X4. Love the truck, '05 has much less engine roar than 03 (Hemi in both), sometimes miss it but appreciated on long trips. Towing is the ticket with this truck, will tow anything, anywhere! Currently pull 28 ft travel trailer (6800 lbs) and 24 ft boat (6000 lbs) and get between 10-11 mpg!! Have to go 55-60 to do that and not "hemi" away from lights, as my wife would say. Used to get 6-7 with Chev 1500 w/350.
I'll never buy anything else
I bought the truck at 110xxx miles and the only work I've done (besides maintenance) is the fuel pump went out at 140xxx and I replaced it my self very easy job I'm now at 230xxx and runs like a champ oil still looks new after 5000 mile intervals make sure you use synthetic all the time they are prone to sludge if you neglect or use regular oil I love this truck and expect many more years out of it

engine drivetrain & body seemed strong and able
Seemed like a solid enough truck for the age and mileage, just needed brakes. Everything was falling off on it, the side trim, the interior door panel of controls, the dashboard cubby hole cover popped off and out flies the ashtray. Everything i touched inside fell off or came apart. Too many little things needed repair. Would be a good tough truck if you can deal with the little stuff.

The Hemi is outstanding
Traded 05 Dakota with powerful 4.7 for Ram 1500 Hemi! Can't go wrong with this powerplant, it's outstanding for sure. It even sounds good with stock exhaust when you hit the gas. The truck rides and handles great. Great choice!
I love my truck
I am a changed man. I used to buy GM vehicles but I am a Dodge man now. There are a couple things I don't like about the interior. If I am sitting in the driver's seat comfortably, I can't reach the radio and AC/Heater controls without leaving forward. The short bed is kind of a pain but it isn't the end of the world. It has all sorts of power and torque. I would recommend it to anyone just be prepared to spend $40 everytime you fill up the 26 gallon tank (about every 350 miles).
Ram
Best truck I have ever owned. I have had Fords for the last 15 years. Dodge has the best pickup in the 1500 class
