The Perfect Full Size Truck
This is a great truck. I have had no problems whatsoever. This is the ideal truck to have because of the amount of storage space in the cab.
so far so good
This one is the sport version. Use the truck for work. I wanted a truck that could carry a 6" step ladder in and this was the only crew cab that could do it. The 4.7 has plenty of power, fuel economy is pretty much as rated. The large hood makes it difficult to park. 4Wd works good in snow. Interior is handy an versatile. Rear seats are roomy and can carry

great truck
the only thing that dont like is the front door design , it holds water & snow at the top & when you open the water runs into the truck gas mileage is very bad
Great Truck
Fun to drive, looks great. Handles very well. I have the V8 automatic ST.
No Complaints after 5 years
Bought when it first hit the lot. Had some problems with the speed sensor, but fixed. Still get 15+ MPG in city and 18-19 hwy. Replaced front and rear bumpers like all good Texans. Now it is a tank. Have had nothing but compliments on its looks and ride from friends and family. Hauled may loads of hay in Texas heat with no problems. Tows like there is nothing behind it. Could get better MPG but as said before it is a truck and one that even Tim Allen would be proud of.
Gas Mileage?
Great vehicle hands down. First time Dodge owner and probably will buy again. The 5.9L needs more punch and gas mileage per cubic inch (willing to accept low MPG for more HP). Sport Package should come with header/exhaust system upgrade. The 4 speed Auto shift/downshift points need another look at (would be fine with beefier motor). CD player skips on bumpy roads. Excellent built vehicle, ride is comfortable, and room for everything.
Dodge the Dodge
I've read through all the previous reviews of the 2002 Dodge Ram and I was surprised to see so many average 5.0 and higher. My transmission was rebuilt at 20k miles, my dash started to seriously crack at 3-years-old (completely cracked now), the truck can't seem to find a resting idle and the dealership is scratching their heads, wondering, why didn't our first 3 recommendations fix the problem. I know what you're thinking. This guy hasn't followed the regular maintenance schedule. I have, and to the letter specified in the manual. Perhaps I drew the short straw and the new guy worked on my truck at the factory, but I'll never trust a Chrysler product again.
Won't buy another Dodge
I am sure that my taste in automobiles has changed since my purchase of this truck. The truck is acceptable, and that is all. The gas mileage is horrible! Gentle driving 14 mpg on the freeway, but it is 4wd. Reliability is less than spectacular. I have had a few issues with it, including a recall for brake brackets. In all honesty, if I were to buy a truck, I would look at Toyota. Overall, I am disappointed in the truck.
Dodge Ram Sport 4wd
This is the best looking, best riding 4 wheel drive truck on the road today. The only draw back was that the HEMI was not out when I purchased it. Thinking of selling it and getting the HEMI.
2002 Dodge 1500
Rides and pulls great - horrible gas mileage
Dodge Ram 1500 4x4
This is a great riding vehicle with little to no road noise. It has the best turning radius I have experienced. Has good visibility and steady handling. The bigger chassis does not limit you from being able to park or manuever through tight spaces.
Dodge Ram LoneStar Edition
I have owned the truck now for 8 months and have 14,300 miles on it. I have the 4.7 engine and it produces plenty of horsepower and torque. The 20" wheels/tires add a very nice touch to the truck. Plenty of room in the rear for 3 s and or kids. Rear doors open all the way allowing easy access. Driverside power seat is a nice feature to get. Without one, I felt like I was sunk way too low in the cab and I am not short. Solid truck and very satisfied.
Daimler Quad / Fantastic Purchase
Only 1000 miles on the clock right now. Flawless. This truck jsut feels good. Everyone I know who has taken a look at the interior cannot beleive how great it looks. The exterior appearance is also extreme and futuristic. The build quality and thoughtful design is top shelf. Highly recommended.
good as it gets
I had a 96 Ram 1500 Sport and loved it and this truck is a remarkable improvement over it. Highly enjoyable driving experience.
2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7
It drives very nice and is comfortable. Very room inside. Gas mileage a litte lower than hoped for. Installed a cold air intake and noticed a difference in power and gas mileage has increased 1-2 miles per gallon. Overall very happy with truck.
Great Truck
The first long road trip will the new Ram went great. The truck handled great at high speeds, and the 5.9 liter V-8 performed great climbing steep grades unloaded. Also, with the new A/C setup, I noticed no power loss while A/C was running. The only draw back is the ride can get a little bumpy on the freeway.
23000$ piece of junk
I couldn't wait to get the new Dodge Ram. I felt I had gotten a good price so, I was initially very happy. Shortly after purchase, the vehicle began sputtering and dying when sitting at traffic lights. Then, as summer approached, the air compressor went out. Next, the recall notices started coming in the mail. Three recalls to date. Now the rack and pinion is leaking and being replaced. The passenger side air blows at maybe 30%. The truck looks great and is fun to own if you don't work and have time to take it to the shop every few weeks!!
4-Door Dodge Ram 1500
Overall, the vehicle is very nice to drive. Within first 2 months, drivers door developed rattle. On the downside, the fuel economy is terrible. By coasting down hills and losing speed on inclines, I can get around 16.7 mpg tops.
Dodge Ram Tough Enough For Me!!
I love the Ram Truck because it is tough enough for me.
Great truck to ride
This truck is fun to drive. It feels like I am driving a muscle car! You should own one.
AWESOME
This truck is the nicest 4x4 on the market today. With the 20 inch wheels it has more ground clearance than any stock 1/2 ton.
GREAT TRUCK!
I bought this truck for pleasure but to work when it had to. So far it has exceeded my expectations on every level. I was always a Ford man but this new Dodge has me looking to other directions. Dodge has really outdone theirselves!
SuperCarTruck
This is the ultimate family all season transportation. I have tried Ford, Chevy, and GMC all, I choose this new 2002 Dodge Ram. The model that I will buy is the Ram 1500 Pickup 4dr Quad Cab SLT Plus with the Sport Appearance Package. This is an over 5000 pounds Truck. It is a very heavy Truck. We need more powerful Horse Power and Torgue to move this giant.
2002 Dodge RAM, ST, Std cab 4x4...
In short, a fantastic truck. I've owned a Dodge Quad 4x4 for 3 years and love it. This 'little' one is in some ways better. A bit ugly on the front end (dodge should have left well enough alone), but amazing on the inside, great ride and wonderful performance. I've got the 4.7L with automatic.
GoodTruck, Not Enought Power
RAM is a very good new Truck. Everything else is almost perfect for a person like me. Good build quality material. All my did dare to buy Dodge Ram. After I buy my on Feb 02, 3 friends of mine each buy one..., red, white, Red Fram like mine. I deserve to reward $300 each for recruite them to buy the RAM from Dodge. I wish Dodge has more option to choose from like: 345HP, 5.7L, AWD version, On Roard Smooth Driving Package, DVD System
Dodger for life!
I purchased by Ram 1500 "Sport Edition" truck new in 2002. In the six years of ownership and 131,000 miles later, this vehicle has seen the service department just twice - blown fuse and cooling fan. It is by far the most maintenance-free vehicle I have ever owned! The 4.7 liter engine supplies plenty of power for the type of work I do. Personally, with gas prices the way they are, I don't think the much-heralded "Hemi" is worth the money or the sacrifice in gas mileage. I average 16.5 MPG in the city and have reached 19 MPG on the highway with my 4.7. It is as silky-smooth driving as the day I bought it. Selling it is not an option - it is my "toolbox" for life!
Best Truck
Looks great and fun to drive! Recommend this truck to anyone. Its truly a truck fit for Texas!
Works for Me
I have had my Ram almost 2 months now and have roughly 8,000 miles on it (lots of highway driving). I love it. Killer good looks, out handles chevy, ford and the toy. Room is great both front and back with the exception of the center console which intrudes on rear passenger knee caps sometimes. They should allow it to be movable by just a few inches. I was very unimpressed with the power of the 5.9 as I came from a Dak R/T. Lags behind the Chevy and even the Ford. I went and added a Vortech Super Charger and have since been more than satisfied.

Nice Ride Lots of Room 20in rims a Must
I bought this over a Chevy Avalanche. Reasons: If you like plastic buy the Chevy. FYI I had prior to the Dodge a 95 Z71 Ext Cab for the last 7 years I like Chevy but to raise the price and make the product more plastic? Ford was out. The Dodge with the new steering is great. The ride is nice so was the Avalanche, which I thought, drove like a caddy. If you want that buy the caddy. This is a truck were talking about. I bought the SLT Sport (20in Rims NICE) in a Quad Cab 4x4 and got it for 3K less than the Chevy and with the 7-year pwr/wrnt. Also 4 wheel disc Brakes
New stiffer frame means less rattles?
The door panels rattle, the dash rattles, the cup holder rattles. It has been to the dealer several times and they cannot fix so now they claim they cannot hear any. On some roads like I45 between Houston and Dallas, at higher speeds, the rear of the truck bounces really bad (Ithought the rear axle was coming off). I have heard this is common. The gas mileage is terrible (4.7L w/ auto tranny). I get only 14 on hwy. The radio controls are a stretch, whick I frequently use to drown out the rattles.
ram
it is fast
The Best
Great ride, superb comfort all the way around. This is whata truck should look and drive like. I have only had it for 2000 miles (2 1/2 months) but feel very confident on the quality of the truck.
Ridin High
Ive only had it a few weeks but i love it.I traded my 2000 dakota 4wd for it and man what a difference.I love feeling like i am driving a big solid truck.Nothing against the dakota but the 1500 is what i think of as a real truck.
Great Truck!!
This truck is AWESOME!! Most comfortable ride in a truck I've ever had. Seats many comfortably. Towing capacity is wonderful.
Ram so Strong and reliable
My 2002 ram 1500 is Very Strong and reliable working truck no doubt about that,My truck ran more than 2k miles from traveling and nothing broke down with heavy load like 10×20 trailer with stump grinder and 2 tons rock loaded My truck was for job site (landscaping, tree). The only that did weared out has the wheel bearing and probably just needed to replace new radiator. But just if you keep it maintained and have the correct oil and good mechanical it long lasting truck, Today My truck only has 130k miles and still runs like a beast and good looking truck and as you may know my truck is only single cab Lol In my opinion 2002 ram are reliable and good for working truck for job site

2002 DODGE RAM PU 1500
Great Value for people with no butts, i didnt like the comfort but it aint soft to seat its pretty hard chairs, im gonna sell it as soon as possibole and buy a chevy silverado because chevyi pu are better, i had many chevis before this dodge but the durango fells completly excellent its a big difference
not too Shabby
Demo, 5,000 on it. Love it so far but will see. Bad experience with my 01 sport 5.9L.
Dodge Trucks are cheaply made
I can't believe how cheap all the interior plastic is inside the truck, dashboard, recline seat handles, door handles, etc. I had a 1999 and believe me this truck is made with much cheaper materials, I'm very disappointed and had I realized all this when I got the truck I wouldn't have purchased it. Also the transmission is very jerky during slow and even fast shifting, and its intermitent.
Better than the rest..
Gas prices not withstanding... my paid for truck bought new has given me a great run for the money and I never complain about a warranty item fixed for free. It is true that Dodge never made a vehicle they didn't want to make four engines/trans/trim levels for. One of the reasons the imports seem to have an easier time with repairs. Even here my vehicle is an slt not a plus but the only option is a 4.7 for the slt unless the add for the engine comes up .. The real problem with any vehicle like this is the repair dealer you deal with .. the real survey should be how the dealership handles the problems that are covered. At 80,000 miles my paint on the roof was repainted from Dodge. Thank you ..
OWN 2001 RAMM 150
A SOLID TRUCK
outstanding extended warranty
I really wanted to let everybody know about dodge's outstanding extended warranty. I got the one with all the bells and whistles (best of best)The price is negotiable, by the way! we paid 1700 dollars for the 100,000mi/7yr warranty. I went on a fishing trip to New Mexico mountains, where we ran into very sharp rocky roads, i had tires with about 30,000 miles on them. The rocks were so sharp i had 5 flat tires in 2 days. In desperate need of help i called the warranty people. They found me 50 miles outside of nowhere, and towed me to get tires and did not charge me a dime! I was so impressed. got a feeling this warranty is gonna come in handy.
2002 Quad Cab
Great truck, awesome look, love the 20 inch wheels. But this 4.7 liter is way underpowered and the gas mileage SUCKS..........the sticker said 14 town and 18 highway...................well something needs to be done about that, cuase IMHO its a FLAT OUT LIE............bets i could get on the highway is 15.5 MPG. But its like everything else in this world............the average man gets screwed. Besides the NOT ENOUGH POWER and FUEL ECONOMY it's a great truck. Cmon Dodge..............you have a great built truck..................but chevy has the market for better engine and fuel economy.
Total Piece of Junk
Nothing but problems
