Just bought the car used and am thrilled with it so far. This car had everything but the kitchen sink! Dodge really knows what the customer wants. Other vehicle brands from 2000 just don't cut it when compared to Dodge!

Best Car I've Ever Owned

I now have just over 240,000 miles on this car. It has the original engine and transmission. I just had a valve job done on the car about 4,000 miles ago for $750. No repairs to the transmission other than standard maintenance. The interior is slightly faded from the desert sun, but still in almost perfect shape; the dash isn't cracked and the upholstery is completely intact. I haven't even had to change the struts yet. Every day I drive this car the durability and reliability of it continue to amaze me. I believe this car will go over 300,000 miles or more. This is the best car I've ever owned. Dodge really, really, really needs to bring this car back!

Drive Over Durability. Good is Enough

This vehicle came off lease with a full warranty and has got me to and fro safely on many road trips on the east coast. However the warranty paid for several issues: bad lock, bad evaporator(a/c), transmission cooler lines, oil sensor, and output sensor. Nothing catastrophic yet at 92K, just annoying stuff. It was stolen and broken into twice because the locks are cheap; get an alarm in the city. The motor runs great with KN Filter and regular engine cleaner additive every 4K.

I bought this car at 75K. I had never bought a car with so much mileage on it, now it is at 140K and the time to get a new car is coming. I liked it so much that I feel tempted to get a newer model, but I don't want people to think that I suffer from lack of imagination. It has been such a great experience to have this car it was worth every penny.

I have been so happy with this car! I've had absolutely no problems with it, I love the looks of it, and it has zip and great handling. The car has close to 140K miles and so far (knock wood) I haven't had to do anything special except change the oil every 3000 miles and fix the brakes once. I think it was really stupid of Dodge to stop making this model, but given that they have I hope to keep my car forever!

Life with my 2000 Intrepid

My intrepid has 125000 miles and has been for the most part a reliable car. It still rides great and is the most comfortable car i have owned. Problems that I have had include the following. Both of the electric window motors went up at about 32000 miles which were covered under warranty. The rack and pinion went up in the car at 58000 miles $1200 to fix. The rubber door seals have shrunk so that they do not fit around the doors. The interior plastic trim around the doors has cracked and fallen apart.

The quality of constuction is decent for a Dodge. Except for a MAJOR problem, I have not had one issue regarding build quality. The MAJOR issue had to do with a wiring loom that was being cut by a bracket and shorted under acceleration. After 6 trips to my 5 star (joke of a dealer in Fairmont WV), the car finally shut down on the interstate going 70. With no electrical power at all, my wife was lucky to be able to move from the fast lane to the breakdown lane. 30 days later, another dealer found the problem. No apologies by Dodge or the dealer. They really did not care at all.

We traded a 95 Intrepid w/87000 miles on it for a new 2000 model becuase my wife loved the car. Rotor had to be replaced at 16000. The warranty statement does not list exceptions because "everything is covered" (except brakes). Seals around doors have had to be replaced twice, check valve on radiator had to be replaced, oil pan came loose, has been in the shop for "check engine" 8 times, 6 sensors have been replaced, timing chain tensioner failed causing extensive engine damage, second tensioner also failed. The car is 1400 miles over warranty now and I owe 3000 mor than it's worth. As soon as I can afford to trade it in it's gone.

Fits my desire for a great looking sedan with oomph. My second Intrepid. Dissappointed about the noise level though. Car tracks extremely well and the 3.5L engine provides all the power I want. Low end torque could be better. Only problem I've had was the resonator (replaced under warranty). The car is fun to drive and exterior styling is great. Ditto on the door seal shrinkage reported by others.

Traded in a 1995 for the 2000 ES and what a great choice. Now have over 180,000 miles and have only had to replace the water pump at 110,000. Great roominess, comfort and style. Super MPG for a large car always above 22 and up to 28 on trips. Can't understand why it's being discontinued, the 3.2 engine runs great with enough power and durability. Door seals shrunk but that is common, 1 window motor gave out, but everything else has been iron clad. Dodge wake up! The Intrepid was your best car...so aerodynamic and stylish...I'm looking for another if I can get one I will grab it!

First of all POOR service by local dealers. The car has had numerous small problems. Wheel bearings, cog&chain in the tranny, power window closers, electrical harness, third brake light and the car still has a shake in the front end at highway speeds with a rumble noise. All tires and balance have been chaged and rechecked several times. Dealer says they know it's there don't know how to fix it. Oh what a feeling!!!! I think a Toyota is in the future.

I was seduced by this car. It is beautiful. However, I have had one problem after another. I still owe 4k on it and am having to trade it in. Engine is going on it and it only has 85000 miles on it. Was told the engine will lock up eventually. I am so ticked off...DON'T BUY ONE!

This is my third Intrepid since 1996. Bought a used '95 and then had a '97 as a company car before leasing the '00. This vehicle is a great value. It handles very well, looks stylish and is very comfortable. Best of all, this car easily seats five very comfortably. People are amazed at how much room there is in the back seat. The truck is huge also. Very solid, reliable, practical car.

I bought my car with 20,000 miles on it. Love the style of the car. In the past year I had a sales job and put 27,000 miles on it in one year. Currently I’m at 147,000. This has been the BEST car that I have ever owned. The only thing that I have had to do is regular maintenance. I have run amsoil in the engine and transmission since probably 40,000 miles. Recently I had to have the water pump replaced and that was a very expensive fix since the front of the engine has to be removed. (2.7 engine) When the engine was apart the mechanic said that it was very clean inside, No sludge! I also had to have my inner tie rod bushing replaced. (pothole)

Great car ! But?

Hi, me and my husband bought this car in 2005. It was a used vehicle the car runs great we love it! But we have experienced a few problems. The starter has been replaced also the battery and now I'm being told that the bushing need to be fixed on passenger side. I don't know. A lot of reviews say they only changed tire and brakes and thats it. So I am a little concerned, if I am getting ripped off or the maintenance is really needed. Please if you have any advice let me no or if you have similar car would appreciate your feedback ad opinion of my repairs.

No repairs in 145,000

I just had my first repair besides normal items for an oil leak and the cost was $75.00. Almost traded it in for $800.00 before a second opinion and had it fixed for $75.00. Keeping it and giving to my daughter. Had the car fully evaluated when the repair was done and found nothing wrong at all! Needs front brakes that's it! Great car, never been back to the dealer sine I bought it! 8 years body and mechanical perfect shape, no rust at all. Rides and handles like day one upper 20's on mpg on all highway miles! Two minor items still remain, rear door seal fell off a few years ago and I took it off. Drivers side electric door lock sticking. Looks great, runs great. Another 145,000? Hope so!

I bought this car yesterday at a car auction. i knew that buying any car at an auction, i was going to have a lot of things to fix but i never expected anything like this. I left the car auction and was on my way home with the car and i kept hearing this knocking noise. it kept getting louder and louder so i was going to take it to my mechanic when the car practically just quit on me. would start at first but made awful noise. my mechanic said engine (2.7) is bad! so i'm stuck. didn't even get the car home. reviews on this car is terrible! take a look before buying. i'm going to try & get a 3.2 engine. don't know if it will work though. wish i would have known before i got it..

I traded a '95 Intrepid on this 2000 R/T and really liked the looks of the newer one. I've had this one for only a week, so I actually can't pass judgement on the performance this soon. I'll keep in touch, tho!!
