Ours is the 3.6l engine version, and it runs just beautifully. I guess I'm old school, and all the interior gadgets were almost overwhelming, from the back up camera to the rear proximity sensors, no more backing into hidden signposts or other cars parked behind. Too much to mention, overall, a very happy camper. It also works very well in our 110 plus degree Arizona desert heat.

Great car if you don’t like power steering

We purchased our 2016 Durango in 2017 with 18k miles on it because we loved our 2004 Durango. It drove well and handled well, it had power and was quite comfortable. Our issues began at 68k miles when my wife got a dash board message “power steering unavailable service required” and lost the power steering. We turned off the engine and restarted, and the problem went away. Fast forward a month later and it happened again. Concerned, we took it to the Dodge dealer and they diagnosed it with a burned up power steering module. True to FCA form, the module is integrated into the rack and pinion and one must replace the entire assembly to replace the module. Our cost to repair? $4,002 to fix the steering. I inquired about just buying the part and avoiding dealership labor rates and found the part alone is over $3,100. I contacted FCA about the astronomical cost of replacing the rack and pinion, and shouldn’t it last more than 68k miles and they told me the price was fair and I was on my own. No offer to reduce the parts cost. After a week the steering went out completely so I got on the internet to try to find some aftermarket options. The only resource I found that sold refurbished racks for the Durango told me he was completely sold out. He stated the Dodge racks were epic garbage and he sold them as fast as he rebuilt them and even offered to rebuild mine if I’d send it in. I also found an electric rack and pinion recall on the 2016 Ram trucks while I was looking around. I emailed FCA again and told them of my finding that the internet is rife with Durango trucks experiencing this issue and other vehicles of the same year were same brand had recalls on the same part. I asked them to step up and do the right thing and reduce the cost of the part. They doubled down on they’re decision to leave me hanging with a ridiculously high repair bill on a vehicle that has very little miles on it. We just traded the Durango on a different brand because there is no confidence in Dodge for me. Never again FCA will I buy another of your vehicles.

Had the durango for a little over 1 year now. I have had it in the shop at least 6 times. Every sensor you can possibly think of has gone out. Its in the shop as we speak for the same problem that was supposedly fixed early this week. I love the durango its roomy, drives smooth. I do not like the auto start/stop its very annoying, I wish there was a way to turn it off completely. Other than the few trips back to service, its a good vehicle. All the kids can charge their tablets on road trips. The vehicle wifi is terrible. My Chevrolet has awesome wifi compared to Dodge. Also during a hurricane Chevrolet gave a free month of wifi for its customers. Dodge said no way we are not offering you anything, even if your town was destroyed by a hurricane and you have no access to internet. Now it’s 2021 and the Durango has only had the water pump go out since my last review, it’s a dependable vehicle, no complaints.

Great SUV! Just a couple of minor QC issues

The car is great. The dealership experience was not so great as I asked them to take care of the steering wheel alignment. In doing so, they messed up the actual wheel alignment (now drifts slightly to the left) and the steering wheel is still angled to the right. Other than that, its really a great car. It replaces a '14 Grand Cherokee, and much is very similar, but cornering is tighter on the new Durango. Third row and cargo space are a plus. My only other downside is that the Beats premium audio package is lacking in bass. Also lacking in ability to control the sound processor at the head unit. But these are minor things, most people will enjoy the sound quality as it is good.
