Best car I ever bought - hands down!
Purchased my Volt in May. Currently have 4,500 miles - 97% electric - still have 200 miles left on the tank of gas from the dealership. My commute to work is 37 miles and I average 45-50 miles per charge driving conservatively. Myvolt website & Onstar app work great. Acceleration is very good, ride is very nice, build quality seems excellent and crash test scores are great. Back seat passengers have no complaints - no it's not a limo, but fine for average sized passenger. Little touches like automatic door lock as you leave the car just add to the great experience. If your commute is 20-100 miles this is a great choice. Purchased many cars - Volt beats them all - not even a close 2nd. Update - just completed year 2 with my Volt. I have 17000 miles on the car and have used 15 gallons (and most of that was forgetting to plug-in at night). That comes to 1133 mpg. My opinion of this car has only gotten better. Quiet, very user friendly, reliable, plenty of pick up when needed and easy to drive. If you drive anywhere between 25 to 75 miles per day and are considering this car I wouldn't hesitate for one second. Update - I have almost reached year three. 98% of my miles have been on electric power (36 mile round trip commute). Vehicle has been flawless in virtually all aspects. I drive my wife's car (Hyundai Azera) and have rented many other cars in the last 3 years but none ride or handle as good and none are as user friendly. I'm always happy to come back to my Volt!

THIS is the perfect car for right now
Update as of October 26th, 2023. Car spent some time with my daughter in college, now back to me doing service as a city runabout and hauler of an incredible amount of things. #itfitsinavolt! Still getting 36 miles on a charge - and rarely need to use the engine for city duty. Rock solid reliable. Update as of April 25th 2021: Still zero issues. I'm getting unbelievable value from this vehicle at this point. With a solar roof that generates more power than our house consumes, I drive for free. The is long paid for, requires almost no maintenance. I changed the oil just because it had been a long time even though the gas engine hadn't been operated very much. Update as of April 18th 2020. There are tons more plug in hybrids these days, but the 2014 Volt continues to perform well. Zero issues with this car. It has 65k miles on it now and the brakes are like new because most braking is regenerative. It has snappy acceleration, has crips, satisfying handing. If this had a Toyota badge on it they would have sold millions of them. Original review below I purchased this car new with 41k miles. It's a 2014 Volt Premier...loaded with everything. It's a pleasure to drive and the perfect runabout. Passing acceleration is the strong point. WOW! Accelerating from a dead stop is solid, but it's the instant torque when passing that is eyebrow raising. I plug in at work, so unless I'm doing long distance drive, I drive for free! I've also become quite skilled at maximizing efficiency while still keeping up with stop and go commuting traffic. I now get about double the range that the indicate says. So, out of a 36 mile charge I'll get 70 miles of pure electric (in town, stop and go, up and down hills). When I first started I was on or just a little under the (29 to 34 out of a 36 mile charge). I've gotten good at using the regenerative braking system. The stereo is sweet, the seats or comfortable, and it handles surprisingly well on the high efficiency tires. I truly enjoy driving it. The value is unbelievable right now too. I got mine for 15k.

Love this car!
Gets better all electric miles than advertised especialy in warm weather. When running on the gas generator it still gets 38 miles to the gallon. Very nice ride and good performance, a lot of fun to drive. Love going 70 on highway with absolutely no noise. The negatives are the controls on the center console are confusing and there is hardly any room in the back seat. The climate control could be better. Great car for a couple or a family with 1 or 2 very young kids. My wife and I use it as our "local" car for shopping, running errends, going out at night. We put maybe 2 or 3 gallons of gas in it every 1 or 2 months. Have taken a number of long trips in it and have found it very comfortable to drive and I am 70 years old, 6'3" and 260lbs.

STILL Love my Volt!
The car is great. I commute everyday over 100 miles and only spend 40 bucks a week in gas. Over 140000 miles and still going. Only one repair besides tires. Had problems with a window. But that was it.

Electric car without the range anxiety
Bought new when dealer was clearing out previous year model (car set in for showroom.) Owned it for 4 years now and had zero maintenance costs/issues and drive mostly on electric range. Engine runs periodically during below freezing winter months to help with the heating and battery or during the computerized self-checkup every few months. Only added 12 gallons of gas (uses premium gas) since owning it - 4 fillups of 3 gallons each. Handles well in the snow due to the weight distribution of the battery packs.
