Great SUV, Poor MPG
I have had my Trailblazer for over 4 years now and finally paid it off. Its a great SUV that is comfortable, sturdy, and great offroad and on the highway. The extended version is nice and provides 8 feet by 4 feet of room (when front seats are pushed forward) for gear or even a sheet of plywood. the seats in the middle are comfortable but a little cramped for anyone over 6 feet tall. The seats in back are great for kids but not adults. Overall the SUV runs great (only had a speedometer issued covered under warranty) and never any other issues. Sometimes the wind noise coming over the mirrors is a little annoying though.
Nice SUV
I've had my TB for 10 months and I've driven it in city, highway, and on 4WD trails. I've also slept in it for a couple of nights while elk hunting. This is a good all around vehicle especially for the money. It is big enough to be fairly comfortable sleeping in the back with the seats down when you need it. The only down side is that HWY mileage at interstate speeds (75MPH) is only around 17 1/2 to 18 MPG (rated at 21 mpg) although I do have a slightly higher rear end gear so others may do better. Driving in town yields around 13-14 mpg.

wow, i love it!
i think chevy finally has a winner. i didn't like price at first, but the more i drive this vehicle the more i love it. big, lots of power, it will get up and go when you need it. long trips are great. when you get there, feels like you haven't been anywhere. looks very good. the inside could use some work, but it will do. i have received nothing but compliments on the vehicle from people who ride in it. i love my trailblazer!
Dads Big Boy toy
this is not my first trail blazer, since i retired from GM, blazers are all i buy. and i would not even think about buying another type of suv. and i am very satifyed in their product.
not happy but stuck
Tranny went out at 30K miles. Gm put band-aids on & would not replace it. I am very disgusted w/GM service. Never again. Trailblazer is worse than most on retaining value. I am in the tank on this one & still bought it 8K under list price. For an LT the stereo sucks.Rear leg room not much. Better to spend the money on a used Tahoe.Mileage is no different. Handles terrible and wind noise is the worse I have ever seen. Not reccomended by me to buy one.
05 Trailblazer EXT
Cheaper alternative to imports and even GMC siblings. Dull power off the line, but gets going in mid tach range. Great discounts can be found as well. This vehicle rates high if you can pick up a loaded one for less than $26K.
TrailBlazer
Front seats not as comfortable as should be; seem to lean in to the center with lack of support. Drives and rides great its just the fuel economy is just not what it should be. 16mph on average is not good when the mini van was about 25mph.
OneGreatTrailBlazer
This is the nicest and most powerful SUV, I have owned. The only one I would recommend above it is the Chevey Tahoe.
Not Too Excited Over This One
Poor design for console cup holders. Cheap design to hold headliner up around sunroof. Owned this vehicle since March 11th and already having issues. More money needs to be spent on better materials for interior and less on computerized options that aren't used very frequently.
Great for any age
Anytime you want to go some where you never have to worry you always have enough room and power to go anywhere. I love the truck.
PROBLEMS!
Man, I thought I was gaining great bargain. We purchased my 2003 trailblazer ext LT from the local carmax for 20998. It only had about 29K miles on it. The first month it was in the shop for a problem with the engine fan that locked up. second month, brakes gas seal and brake lights went out had to be entirely repalced, third month, the RPM gauge stopped moving, got a quote of 400 to fix, not to mention the door mechanism began scraping, an extra shove is required to get out of the driver side. Trading in ASAP! I guess you get what you pay for.
2005 Trailblazer - Good Vehicle.
Days after buying this vehicle, we took it on a long trip over 2000 miles. It handled very well and was very comfortable. We got all the toys (GPS, DVD, XM Radio, etc) and glad we did. I am disappointed that you lose the use of the CD player when using the GPS, but the XM radio was a savior here. Gas mileage on the trip was 21 highway to and from vacation and 18 MPG during the week of city & highway. In the city alone, with a lot of hills, I am getting 14 - 15 MPG. Good engine performance. Could use a little more storage space near the front seats. Overall, I feel this is an excellent SUV and believe I will be happy with it for years to come.
x
The vehicle stop running the first day at only 29m and had to be towed. Problem with the heated mirrors, the 4X4 system, the engine makes funny noises, all kind of little problems you should not expect before 4-5 years are there after only a few months. Very poor service at the dealer.
Expected More
Not a bad ride but I find myself "strapped" in and confined inside the driver seat. There's no space to put anything inside. It's a lower ride than the Explorer. I haven't had to use 4 wheel drive yet. The sound system is excellent. If you have kids or use it for carpooling - the back has it's own climate controls, as does the passenger front.
Fun SUV
Bought my TrailBlazer used with roughly 45k miles on it, have put 40k on it so far and love it, replaced the tires with some aggressive all terrain tires and performs well in snow and light mud. Haven't had any problems with it except for maintenance which is to be expected. 4.2 liter engine is a real work horse, regularly pulling a 5800 lbs boat and still getting 15mpg on the expressway. Somethings could be improved but every car/truck could be. Interior is a bit plain compared to other suv's. But I would take reliability and performance over looks any day. I would gladly buy another and intend to. To the people who complain about the gas mileage, when you bought it the sticker said the gas mileage
Mama's got a new Car!!
I received my Chevy Trailblazer for Christmas in 2004, and I love it. I was driving a Mitisubishi Montero Sport and I thought I was in love with it, but when I drove the Trailblazer to the end of the road, I knew this was my destiny. I love it. I love it. I love it. When I drive it, I feel like I am sitting on top of the world. It is great. I named it "Blaze"
Fine Truck
If you're tall and are tired of not fitting into anything, the Trailblazer is a godsend. At 6'5", I fit perfectly. My knees dont hit the dash or the steering wheel. Drives very smooth and quietly, handles better than the original review states. Plus it's more attractive than the competitors.
Excellent SUV
I have a North Face Edition, and it is a FANTASTIC car. it looks GREAT, especially with the extra lights.
Expensive to keep
Bought at 18K. Took to dealer for electrical probs at 35K. They say nothing wrong...haha. Shortly Replaced... Htr fan switch, exhaust manifold (hole),ABS module,4wd transfer case, ball joints, wheel bearings, tie rods. Currently the htr fan switch is going bad and the gas gauge and speedometer don't work. I rarely get 16 mpg hiway, Air seals poor. The tailgate lock works intermittently, the lights dim on the road and went out on me once at nite. I have put over 5K over and above normal maint into this in 3.5 yr .Nothing covered under warranty. Other than that a real sweet ride. Was a GM customer for life ..never to buy another GM. The small and mid level SUV's and trucks are pure junk.
good buy
I love this car. Traded in a 1997 4runner. The Trailblazer rides better, handles better, and has more power than the new Explorer and 4runner. I highly recommend the LT package. The automatic climate control is awesome. The locking rear differential is a good deal for only $300 dollars extra.
luvin my trailblazer
WE PURCHASED OUR TRAILBLAZER IN NOVEMBER,04. WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ASTRO VANS FOR THE LAST 15 YEARS. WE LOVE THE LOOKS AND THE RIDE THIS VEHICLE GIVES YOU. SO FAR ITS BEEN GREAT,
Great Vehicle
This is my first SUV, and now that I have my first child, I think I made a wise decision. It's a very comfortable ride. I wasnt sure what it would be like with an SUV, but the mileage isn't nearly as bad as I thought, and I have all the gadgets I could want! DVD Navigation, OnStar, Heated Seats, Sunroof....etc.
New SUV Owner
We purchased a fully loaded Trailblazer. Fuel ratings are off from what we are experiencing we have only made it to a high of 14mpg. The interior is nice, but the design of the drop down DVD unit is flawed due to the rear seating headrest; it is obstructing the rear window view. Power is excellent, Handling is good and overall we are happy with the choice.
Trail Blazer
Very powerful engine for a V-6, sleek exterior, very roomy interior, great suspension, feels like you are riding on glass.
Great midsize SUV
This is a great midsize SUV! It's got a look! It's got a power! I enjoy a nice smooth and quite ride. The handling is great as well as comfort. Engine is pretty quite even while passing many sports sedans! 4WD takes care of any road and weather conditions. Considering its price it's probably the best bet in the midsize SUV class!
My Trailblazer
Owning the Chevy Trailblazer has been very fun. This vehicle is very reliable and for having a six cylinder engine it is pretty fast and strong. The accelaration is very quick and you could feel the power of the engine as you step on the gas pedal. I feel that this vehicle is safe and comfortable for me and my family.
One good SUV
We only had our Trailblazer for about a month but it is one of the best SUVs we have owned (Jeep, Montero, Trooper)!!! It has a smooth ride any plenty of power to cross the passes in Colorado. It handles well in the snow
Nice, family SUV
I'm not much into power of the vehicle and all of that. I will say this is my 2nd TrailBlazer. The 2nd one I upgraded to the third row, DVD player, and leather seating. Very comfortable, smooth riding SUV.
2nd TrailBlazers in 3 years
I do lots of driving. My first T- Blazer (2002) racked up 80K in 2 yrs with only reg. maint. I then purch'd an '04. Already has 30K. Excellent ride, ft seats could be better, rears are best in class. No road noise at all. Steers, brakes, corners excellent. Lots of compartments- including sunglasses!! My '02 had an aux pwr outlet in the rear and a glovebox light. My '04 does not. C'mon GM, how much did that really save? Headliner won't stay up. Gas mileage could be better, but it is a truck w/280 HP. 14-16 hard city driving, and 18-22 @ 75 MPH. Not that bad, but I am sure all trucks could be better. Bose radio is a must. Excellent agressive styling. Well laid out interior. Great to tow/haul.
Family
Good response. good ride, good handling. It's easy to park, and quiet on the road at highway speeds. It's easy to service, affords good visibility of traffic, and has excellent stopping power.
Love this car
I had a 2003 Trailblazer and I was NOT fully satisfied with that model. When looking for this new car I went for the loaded version. I LOVE IT. Drives great, very comfortable. Fuel economy leave a little to be desired, but that's all SUV's
Excellent mid-size choice
I purchased a 2005 TrailBlazer LS 4WD three months ago with 7000 miles on the odometer. No problems; everything works as it should. Living and driving in Chicago, it's a perfect SUV (for me) for this terrain. Excellent visibility, super-tight turning radius, and it surpresses all of those rough roads and pot holes with ease. Great power from the 4.2L inline six cylinder (almost 300hp) and experienced 17.5 mpg around the city and 21.5 on the highway. No drifting has been experienced at highway speeds. The TrailBlazer has been around for awhile and has a proven design that works well for most.
Love it!
I love the new Trailblazers! Handles like a dream on corners. Room for the whole family. Beautiful color choices. I chose superior blue metallic. Great accents.
Love/ Hate
I have had my t-blazer for 5+ years. It had 99,000 but I have made several major repairs. Thank god we got the extended warranty. The exhaust manifold had to be replaced twice now, catalytic converter, DVD system, now the fuel gauge is not working and it is leaking tranny fluid. I am keeping it as long as I can but I think after 3 GM with problems I am moving on.
I'm lovin' it
I got my Trailblazer for my 25th birthday from my wife because I was a little jealous of her Envoy she had purchased from 2002! I love the way it handles and when you floor it it moves! Gas mileage could be much better. I get 16mpg in mixed driving. I drive about 34 miles a day, and we go vacationing a lot down south, so I drive alot!
LT
The vehicle's interior is less to be desired. Cheap looking plastic. Handling around corners leaves much to be desired. On the positive side it is very dependable and quality built as well as a great exterior design.
could be better
at 62000 miles the transmission has developed. that has me worried, after having a Ford Taurus and a Dodge Caravan both developed leaks and major problems at around 65000 miles. so you see it seems to be an American car company problem not just Chevy. gas mileage is extreme. around 20 highway and 13 city in two wheel drive. lock in 4-wheel drive and it drops to 10 or less. my v-8 ford pickup does better by far.
Poor fuel economy
We have had our Trailblazer fro about 10 months...and basically I love it EXCEPT for the fuel econmy! It STINKS! It seems every other day I am putting gas in, and I only have a 5-7 mile commute daily. It doesn't even come close to my friend's Ford Freestlye as far as fuel economy. Other than that, it is a very comfortable ride and is fun to drive.
What a car!
I love my Trailblazer. I travel more than 45 minutes each way to work and this car makes it worth the trouble. It is loaded with so many comforts like 4WD, seating for 7, leather seating (heated), OnStar, XM radio, and much more. I bought the medium red color with gray interior and I get so many compliments! I highly recommend this vehicle.
Great SUV for all ages
I received a Trailblazer for my graduation present and I have had it for almost a year now. I have no complaints whatsoever except the interior. Chevy does need to step up their interiors and make the inside just as nice as the outside appears.
OK
We bought our second GM SUV this year it seems to be a nice vehicle. It delivers a very comfortable ride. And fuel economy well, it is an SUV. Not so great. It does tow well. We tow a 21 foot boat and it handles well. Overall I would buy another TrailBlazer.
So far so good
My 2005 TrailBlazer EXT LT has almost everything I could ask for. With 600 miles on it everything is tight and working as it should. Based on a less than perfect experience with my last vehicle (2002 Blazer) I hope the not to report back that things have fallen apart in a year or so. I really like the ride and handling. Cabin space is much better than the 4Runner I was looking at, amenities are more affordable (at least up front, resale value is another thing). I didn't get the sunroof, it gives me an extra inch of head room but getting it out meant I had to get the DVD player (not needed but my daughter loves it). All in all it is a VERY nice ride every day, I am impressed.
Best Buy I Made
I really enjoy driving my Trailblazer and recommend it for everyone. This was my first winter with it and I felt really safe. I do a lot of towing in the winter with my snowmobiles and had no problems.
Trailblazer review
The trailblazer is a reliable SUV. It offers AWD, 4WD and lo. With all the snow we have had here in New England I have had the chance to test the truck. Aside from the sketchy handling around sharp corners, which I think due to the size of any SUV it would be in question. Overall it is a pleasure to drive.
Chevy Does It Again!!!
I enjoy my sister's 2003 Tahoe, but wanted something a little smaller. This TrailBlazer is a dream come true. Chevy did it again!!! I purchased a 2005 TrailBlazer LS (w/ additional options) last month, and it is the best vehicle that I have ever purchased!!!
My Trailblazer
I have owned 9 Suburban's and still have a 2002 and decided to down size alittle to a Trailblazer. After test driving 3 different models we decided on a LT 4WD and we are very pleased with the performance. The turning radius and shorter wheel base is excellent for parking. The L6 engine has plenty of get up and go. The suspension has been improved and rides very smoothly for a short wheel base vehicle. The Sirius radio /Bose sound system and OnStar phone are 2 options I have never had in the past, but are great options that we are enjoying very much, and will continue to purchase after the initial free trial period expires.
My Trailblazer
I first discovered a Trailblazer, at a Hurst Rental Lot...On a test drive it showed, ease of handling, plenty of power, very confortable ride..and a secure feeling. Was very inpressed, my wife also drove it and she is smaller in stature, and enjoyed driving it, so off to the New Car dealership to purchase one We put 2000 miles on it at delivery to Oregon, and it was a very confortable ride at extended periods of driving..even with our 4x4 . Adequate power over the mountain pass,18 MPG overall average. Only thing is the shorter version on our test drive showed the ride not as smooth and confortable as the LT version..so our decision to get the extended version.
Has everything but fuel economy
Trailblazer is a great SUV with a good list of standard features. We like that it sits up high just like the more truck like Tahoe, but the TB handles more like a car. We have the optional sun and sound package. With the sunroof, a bit more headroom would be nice
Trailblazer review
I love everything about the car, except I was misled by the dealer about the gas mileage. I do not understand why I get the same gas mileage on this car as I did on the Suburban which I traded in . (about 15.5 and that is almost 100% highway driving) This car is so much lighter. If GM could get the gas mileage right, maybe 25+ mpg, they wouldn't have to practically be giving the cars away.
Just Love It
This is a very good riding, handling and quiet vehicle. On a long trip of 2000+ miles, we found the drive very enjoyable with its comfort and all the extras like DVD player, GPS, Satelite radio, leather, etc. We got 21 MPG on the highway. City driving we are gettng aroudt 15 MPG. Plenty of room for luggage, golf clubs, cooler and misc. items.
