Rolling Dud - Stay Away
I have never disliked a vehicle as much as the 2023 Tahoe. We traded a 2011 Suburban that in retrospect I should have kept and fixed. Here are my issues: 1. The ride was stiff, worse than 2011 Suburban. 2. Poorly implemented tech. From auto-off to trouble with Apple Car play, tech is a nightmare. 3. Spyware. You call it OnStar, I call it spyware. Read GM's privacy statement you have no rights. Also check out the numerous privacy lawsuits against GM and the New York Times expose'. 4. Poor visibility. Despite having a shorter wheelbase than the 2011 Suburban, the 2023 Tahoe has worse visibility from the driver's seat. 5. No gas cap. Gas prices are skyrocketing and the risk of gas theft returning is a real thing. I want the ability to add an aftermarket lockable gas cap. 6. There is no shifter. It's all buttons which made the vehicle feel like a toy. 7. Weird acceleration when hitting gas. The power band is just wrong. Choppy and wrong. 8. No option to replace the head unit. I hated the "infotainment" system. GM has apparently locked out aftermarket options. You might like. Great. In my opinion, the 2023 represents all that is wrong with GM. Overpriced, poorly implemented, nanny-ware piece of garbage. Update: The Tahoe was such a misery, we sold it back to the dealership at a loss. I cannot tell you how much I recommend avoiding this vehicle. I will never buy a new GM product again, at least not until they radically reform their product line up. April 29, 2025 update: Arkansas is now suing GM for privacy violations. Aside from blatant privacy violations, engine issues and transmission problems, poor visibility and a ride like a stone, what's not to like?

Malfunction Alert!!
Brand new 2023 Z71 Tahoe. The radio system continuously restarts, half the time the apple car play isn’t an option, the phone moves from vehicle back to personal phone continuously, AC will not work on auto until the fan is manually adjusted. It’s been to the dealership twice for the same issues and IT STILL DOESN’T WORK RIGHT!

Tahoe Silver!
I wanted a big SUV, but not a bus, so the Tahoe was compared to the Expedition, with the Tahoe being chosen for ride quality and features. My wife and I live in the Appalachians, so we had to have four, or all-wheel drive and the Tahoe has selective four wheel drive that is switchable at speed (they say). We drove it in town and on the highway while doing our test drive and have not owned a quieter vehicle. This one had all the features we wanted and more, so we did not bother to drive an Expedition. The Edmunds reviewer stated that the seats were not comfortable but we found them to be nice and comfortable. And heated! We drove it on a short trip out of town and I found it to be very nice in all respects. We use our SUV as a transport for our dogs to the vet and the seats all fold electrically, so that is very convenient. We have left the third row folded and placed blankets in the rear area for them to lay on and they have lots of room. There is plenty of leg room in the second row for the occasional passenger we may have with us. We are retired and our kids are out on their own, so we, and our Boxers find the Tahoe to be exactly what we wanted, moving up from a Toyota 4Runner. Night and Day. This Tahoe has the large sun roof, 360 camera, Bose sound system, power everything, super smooth and quiet ride and space. We hope the reliability proves to be satisfactory in the long run, because we will probably own this until the 12th of never.
Great full size SUV
We got our 2023 Premier Tahoe in January after having a 2018 Escalade. We love the improvements! Better ride, more quiet than previous generation. 5.3L engine with 10 speed transmission is that much different for us than 6.2L in Escalade and you can use regular unleaded. At 4K miles, no issues. Love the Empire Beige Metallic exterior and maple brown interior. Has a ton of room with all seats down. More leg room in 3rd row than previous generation as well as more room behind 3rd row. Gas milage improving as we break it in. Can get 20 mpg+ on hi-way with flat terrain and no severe headwind. Not as loaded as we would like due to chip shortages. Miss rear view camera, surround HD camera. Adaptive Cruise, and heads up display. Will likely get a 2024 High Country next year. Technology is nice. We have no problems using controls like some reviewers complain about. We will service at our local dealership exactly like GM recommends like we have always done with past full size GM SUVs (#4 for us) and will should have no issues which has been our experience with all our full size GM SUVs and pickups we have owned. UPDATE: We have 10,000 miles on our 2023 Tahoe Premier. We have had no issues! Just completed a 3250 mile trip from Texas panhandle to Montana and back and averaged 20 MPG for entire trip! This included 80 MPH interstate driving, stop and go traffic 3 days in Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. We drove through torrential rainfall, bad roads, over 11,000 foot mountain passes in fog and snow and our Tahoe performed great. We had 7 adults in it for two 12 hours days in Yellowstone and everyone was comfortable. We still had room behind 3rd row for ice chests, picnic items, and rain gear! The room in it is absolutely amazing. The full size sunroof gave everyone a great view and we could open up sunroof and stand up to take pictures of wildlife like a vehicle used in African safari! 5.3L engine and 10 speed automatic performed above my expectations. The 4WD worked to perfection will take you places 2WD won’t! The ride was so smooth! The new independent suspension in 5th Gen Tahoe is incredible and 3rd row room is so improved over 4th generation Tahoe. The seats are the most comfortable I’ve ever had in any vehicle and we had no issues on 12 hour drive days! We had an emergency braking on a wet interstate at 80 mph due to a vehicle in front of us stopping suddenly for a dog. Automatic collision system, Stabilitrack, and anti lock breaks worked flawlessly and stopped us in 3-4 seconds and we never swerved and stayed straight in our lane. Rain sense wipers worked in light to heavy rain flawlessly. Climate system kept us comfortable from temperature ranges of 37F to 90F on trip. This is a better vehicle than our 2018 Escalade! We will buy another Tahoe and plan to get a loaded High Country in 2024! I don’t care what others say. This is a great vehicle if you want to haul a lot of people or cargo and you want a comfortable vehicle with latest technology.
