Not a bad truck at 5 years old.
Recently bought my 2005 ext-cab Z71 silverado 1500 a few months ago, used with 90,000 miles on it. I'm the second owner. Good things: Engine is still very quiet and runs smooth for having 90K on it, great on gas, ride is smooth, 4wd still works, interior in great shape, no electrical or steering problems. Overall still a great truck inside and out. Bad things: Doors rattle a little when driving over rough bumps, transmission shifts hard into 3rd gear and makes a "smack" sound. A/C makes weird gurgle sounds after I turn it off.
This ones a keeper
One of the most comftorable trucks I have driven in years. The 5.3L has more than enough power for both work and play, and even with the off road suspension package provides a comfortable enough ride for even long road trips.
Great Truck!
I purchased an '05 4x4, extended cab, WT, in April. I think it's a great truck. I was impressed by the standard features (e.g. dual climate control, 4 wheel ABS, etc..) It rides great on the highway...I drove it from NY to the Rocky Mountains and was never uncomforable at all...that's a lot of driving. The engine is impressive (about 300hp). It's got plenty of power and has been getting decent gas mileage (for a truck).
05 Silverado W/T L.B.
After owning two other new Chevrolet Trucks, this one seems to be the best of the three. Its power (4.8 Liter) rivals that of my previous' 97 5.7 Liter. Although the Cab is stripped down, it still has plenty of room and the seats are very comfortable. All control are laid out in easy reach. Plenty of head and hip room (I'm 6',2"). The long bed has plenty of room for plywood and longer items. I would deffinitely reccommend this truck to anyone needing a simple work truck.
Chevys are built for work and play
I use my truck on my job. I work as an inspector on new pipeline construction. Many times I have to use the 4 wheel drive and it performs excellent. I also pull a 30' travel trailer and it handles it with no problem. I especially like the "Auto 4 wheel drive" feature. When I drive up to some mud and stream crossings...I think "4WD or not?" I just press the "Auto 4WD" and it takes care of the guess work. So far I am very, very happy with it!
