Used 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Extended Cab Consumer Reviews
all that glitter ain't gold
best looking truck i ever saw,but had some problems.the slip yoke on the drive shaft goes slip clunk every time you take off.dealer says there's nothing he can do? second the stearing shaft rattled like it was going to fall off, dealer greased the intermidiater shaft on stearing. that seamed to fix that .last 4 wheel drive switch in transmission went, out dealer repaired. I spent more on this truck than my last 2 trucks and had more trouble with it.the moral of the story is just because it looks good don't mean it runs good.

Truck has never been in for repair 35000 miles and exceptional
great truck
Bought this truck new in 2000 have 278,000 miles and it still runs great have had to put 2 fuel pumps and one alternator in ten year, not bad. Have used synthetic oil and trans fluid. Changed to Bosch platinum plugs at 79k and now have 200k on the plugs, still runs great. Just bought 09 crew cab and hope it lasts this long. Keeping this truck just to see it roll on to 300k.

The 4.8L beast
I bought this truck when I was 17 in high school from a rancher that used it to run cattle in North Dakota. It had 160k and the old man told me "Boy idk how much life it has left in it." Well 10 years later I now have 310k on my Z71 and it shows no sign of slowing down. The good- gas mileage for a 4x4 (16mpg), the 4.8 with air intake and exhaust breathes really really well. The LS motors were no joke, great motors for the price. The overall durability of the powertrain is incredible. I beat the [non-permissible content removed] out of this truck in high school and the engine/ transmission(Tip: do not change the trans fluid on these gm tranny's after 200k) are doing great. The Bad- little rust issue but the truck was in N. Dakota, Rear end, alternator, and water pump all went out around 180k. GM had the faulty ABS module that should of been recalled but as long as you don't mind some lights coming on every once in awhile it's not that big of a deal. The ugly- Fords...
