Used 1998 Chevrolet S-10 Regular Cab Consumer Reviews
Smart Buy!
I have had this truck for 3 years now and have loved every minute of it. I bought the truck from a friend with 13,xxx miles on it and I am yet to experience any problems. Everything inside and out of the truck is placed well and I can't complain about any of the mechanical fetures either. Overall, I give it a 10.

Good companion, but not made well enough
Purchased this truck in 1998 and I inherited it in 2000 as my only vehicle and daily driver. It has run fairly well and performed as I needed, but my experiences have been similar to others'. Seat handle broken (by a thief who smashed the window, however), front grille plastic has cracked and had to be safety wired back together. Alternator replaced, battery replaced, hole in the radiator, water pump replaced, A/C compressor leak, some intermittent starting issues, oil and transmission pan seepage. For a 9 year old inexpensive truck, it's performed adequately. Little power, but nimble enough in my hands. Good beater, decent to drive, but not made very well.
dream truck
I had a big chevy, but wanted a smaller version of the larger truck (1976)never happened until 94. Then the shortbed stepside was produced. Love at first sight. Brought mine in 05. It has been a treasure. It is driven on the road over 200 miles a day five days a week. it had a 2.2 4 cyl. I overheated it driving with the radiator cap off. It had 288k on it then. Replaced motor & drove it a year on the road. Decided I wanted more horsepower. Upgraded drivetrain to v6 power with automatic and now have the truck of my dreams. started to add a v8 but change plans due to mileage driven daily.
The best I ever had
This truck was the best thing that I have ever bought. Had the V6 with some performance parts with the 5 speed manual. This was a very fast truck.
