Used 2014 Chevrolet Equinox Consumer Reviews
Not so great!
Bought 2014 Equinox with 86k miles. By 100k it started idling very rough and stalling when coming to complete stops. Ended up having to replace VVT solenoid, exhaust manifold, catalytic converter, and o2 sensor. Also was told at time of repair that my car was short 3.5 quarts of oil and that Equinox’s are known for excessive oil consumption. Wish Ik all this before hand smh...ready for a trade-in!
Who wants to be a mechanic?
If you enjoy replacing the crankshaft position sensor and both camshaft position sensors on a regular basis/yearly and replacing the rings then this is the suv for you! 2.4L ecojunk, maybe I got a lemon, maybe they are all lemons. Buying one with over 50k will be like rolling the dice!

love it hate it
Its a comfortably reliable SUV. The steering goes out. Chevy is aware but doesn't recall. And has a clause in warranty to not cover. But I love my SUV. Hate Chevy for not fixing a issue that there aware of. Safety concern.

Just bought it used
The bumper-to-bumper warranty is over, but the drive-train warranty still has some time. It's got two mystery sounds that may need servicing. There is a very quiet, high-pitched, whine at particular times, almost robotic, like during parking: I would compare it to a 4th of July firework coming down, and a bass, quiet pounding under the rear sometimes as I backup, or other times, like someone dropping furniture. The design is the most pet-friendly I've had. It's great for me who is uncomfortable in small cars and insecure driving trucks. UPDATE Nearest Chevy dealer got rid of noise by changing transmission and brake fluid. The OnStar Navigation is more expensive than cell phone but more convenient. My dashboard warned me about black ice this morning. You can push a button on your mirror and ask OnStar to dial a phone number. The newest concern is smoke out the back in cold. Hopefully it wont be major. I like how it is quieter from outside noises than previous cars of mine. The front bumper hangs low enough to catches on curbs: $300 to fix. I hear new intermittent noises around the rear wheels like a voom air pocket of weight coming down, and a high pitched screech down under the center while going very slowly. (That stopped with regular maintenance). My hips and legs get cramped on 4 hour daily commutes sometimes. The car feels otherwise roomy. The side mirrors have close up lenses on them. I am past 50,000 miles: planning 3rd set of tires. Update 104,000 miles new battery, brakes last year. Tuneup recently. Driving in light snow lately. Mileage decreases almost half around oil change time. Currently 24mpg. Not running it as much. Still working great. Quiet.

Not the quality I was expecting
I had this car for a year and, unfortunately, it was just a headache. The Bluetooth either didn't stay synched with my iPhone or the sound was crackling when I tried to listen to music that way. I didn't have this problem with my previous car or the one I got after this. The car felt jerky at low speeds, but two dealers said this was normal and that Chevy makes them that way (no other car I have ever had drove like that). I have to assume there's something wrong with the transmission. The final straw, however, was when the car died in the left lane of the highway with less than 20k miles on it. The car was repaired under warranty and I notified the manufacturer. When my husband got a 2015 Ford Escape, I found that the comfort and level of technology seemed light years ahead of what I had in my car. Needless to say, with each passing day, I became more disappointed in this car and eventually traded it in for a historically foreign manufacturer. I have very little good to say about the car, except that there was adequate leg room and the trunk held a lot.
