2011 Chevrolet Equinox LTZ 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl 6A)

Headlights, what's with the headlights?
They are mounted so far inside the fender and trim that the top of the light is cut off.
In the city, not a problem, but in rural hilly areas you might as well drive with no headlights.
You can only see a couple of car lengths ahead.
Deer or people on the road, totally invisible.

I sold a 2010 Camaro because of this.
You couldn't see to drive it at night.

I have a friend with a Lincoln MKz and she has the same problem.

So far, so good mechanically. But the Equinox is ugly!
Looks like it is nose diving down the road.
It doesn't appear to sit level when parked.
Really ugly.

The rear shocks, struts or whatever need lowering.

Best Features

The depth of the seats are good. The telescoping tilt wheel is better than not. But it doesn't pull back far enough for long legged people. The arm rest-storage in the center is awkward. You hit it with your arm when you change gears or reach for your coffee. It is too narrow to hold a tissue box. It would be better if it were shorter, front to back, and a 3/8 inch wider. The Equinox needs an outside key pad to unlock the car. Door locks should be on driver's door. Hard to find in the panel of so many other buttons. Needs a dual CD player. One CD is a waste. I didn't even bother putting my CDs in the car. The road noise is bad on a freeway.

Worst Features

There's a blind spot from the rightside rear seat headrest. Headrests should be removable when not in use. Back seat will not fold flat. Makes the space nearly usless. Can't put a cooler there or anything heavy. Nice feature for the seat sliding forward and back, but should fold up so the back of the seat can fold flat. Bought it new without even seeing the car. The dealer brought it to me and I signed the papers. Got it stuck in the first snowstorm. Gas milage is a joke. Not at all what Chevy claimed. I've had cars that I have kept for over eleven years, but the Equinox won't be one of them. I've had it since Nov and already looking to trade. I'll take the hit

Wow is there anything you do like? Why would you buy an Equinox without even seeing it let alone driving it? Did you drive the 2010 Camaro first or did that just show up at your door too?

Why do you say it's ugly after you buy it? Who does that?

I don't have an Equinox (came here looking for real-world gas mileage numbers), so I can't authoritatively say anything about the car. But I saw your comment about the headlights and wanted to say something. Have you checked if there's a headlight height adjustment knob/dial that is set at its lowest? Many cars have that to compensate the angle when there's heavy load in the back. If your car does not have it. or it is set at the normal level, you may be seeing the cutoff line for the headlights. Most newer cars have this cutoff line and this is a GOOD thing. You can see VERY well until the cutoff line, then nothing. This prevents stray light from blinding oncoming drivers and also helps in not blinding drivers in front of you (the stray light doesn't reflect off their rearview mirrors into their eyes). If you want to see further than a few car lengths, you'd have to use the high beams. As for looks, I think Equinox is one of the better looking crossovers out there. I'd put it slightly above average. If I were to buy a small SUV only based on looks, this would be on the list.
